I was checking my email and someone I know from college invited me to join facebook. I don't want to because I don't want a facebook. How would you reply? I don't want to ignore them, because I don't want them to think I'm mad at them or offended. I just don't like facebook.

I agree with lilaclady. Just be honest with them and tell them you don't want to join Facebook, but you would like to keep in touch with them via email. There is nothing to be offended by someone not wanting to join Facebook.

Thanks for replying. Where I live, it seems people have facebook fever. Even old people I know are joining. Personally, I feel those type of sites are too invasive. Second, I'm only subbing. I'm still waiting for a full time job. I'd hate someone not to choose me because of something I said or someone said about me on facebook.

I would simply say I appreciate your invitation, but I am not interested in joining facebook. Simply say you know that you do not like it so you do not want to register to an account that you will not be actively on. Also offer that you are available via phone, emails, text and myLot (nice way to get referrals, lol), but that at the current time it is not something you really want to spend time with. Best of luck, but if they are friends they will understand.

Thank you. That's great advice. Yeah, maybe myLot will get a new member. ;) It's amazing how many ways we can communicate with friends we aren't always able to see in person.

just be honest and tell them you don't want to join Facebook as it is just not your thing, that is not insulting as a lot of people do not want to be a part of facebook...

you simply don't do anything.. your request will be pending till you accept it.. so better avoid to go to facebook site and deny your friend request.. and no body will see offend if you don't join facebook or orkut by his/her request..

Facebook is good but sometimes quite annoying. You can just tell her to contact you in other way something more than facebook. Hope it's help;)
