Deleted Discussions!

There is no fool, like an old FOOL! I seem to have exhausted the perimeters of my knowledge, here...so would like to call on the SAGE and WISE! In the last two days I responded to 5 discussions that have been deleted due to guideline violations! I truly appreciate the notification by myLot...BUT, I would like to re-read the discussion and find out why they were deleted...so that I learn from my..or OTHERS mistakes. Is there a way of retrieving these discussions, even just to give me the peace of mind, that I wasn't the offender? Even tho' I have exhausted myself reading guidelines..I truly don' want to be an offender, also of some-one's discussion being deleted! Appreciate the help...Thank you!

I'm not sure if someone else has said this since I'm responding from an email but this seems to be the appropriate way to respond since the answer, I think, would be "email". You can check the original discussion in the email, assuming you haven't deleted it yet and it wasn't so long that it wasn't all written in the email. I started keeping the original discussion emails because of this very reason, sometimes they get deleted and I have no idea what exactly was said in the discussion. Keeping the email at least will allow you to see SOME of the original discussion. Did I just say the same thing about three or four times? I feel like I did. Maybe I need to be long-winded today or maybe it's becoming a habit since I don't get to talk to people very often. At least I DO know that I'm rambling now and should just shut up. So, has anyone else mentioned keeping the original discussion emails?

Leave it to you, Marti...for a brilliant thought. Sadly, I delete everything once a week, and if those discussions happened near that time..they are gone! Just thought that if they could give a reason/and/or code the violation..then I could look at the discussion and comprehend the reason for the deletion. Just me, as I have already said here so often...I don't want to be the cause of one being deleted, but as Lamb reiterated, it is seldom a responder is the reason! Only now, are we facing the wrath of winter...setting all sorts of COLD records..and I am so worried about my Garlic $ Spring flowers..some have already been blooming. It is a damp cold, living in the middle of the Pacific..so it gets right into your bones. Soon as I got out of bed, my dog, pulled all the covers off and burrowed right into them...poor little guy! Take care..and HUGZ'

Oh, that's horrible, Pergy! For a change, I'm happy to be here and not there. Of course, February is and has been extremely typical for us. It's mid-70's one day then it's 30 with freezing rain, sleet and snow the next. I was outside pulling weeds and preparing a new area for veggie gardening last week, without even a sweater on and it felt SOOO GOOD to have that sunshine beaming down on me (vitamin D, ya know). Now, that area is covered with ice and snow. After tomorrow (with a high wind warning), it should be warming up again, although not into the 70's; it should be much more seasonable, in the upper 40's - lower 50's. I'm hoping our little rodent's (Punxatawney Phil) prediction is correct this year and we have an early spring because I already have seedlings poking up through the soil in the house and can't wait to get them in the ground! I hope your dog is staying warm enough (as well as yourself) and that your weather warms up very soon! I know how that cold can get right into your bones.

I have got a few of those notifications as well. It is sometimes hard to understand why and I know the members who posted it must be at ends. I do, however, know the most common error. Poll type discussions! I am constantly worried about those because my best responded discussion was deleted because of it. None since so far..that is my only one..but it is asking if you think this or that...not a rounded type discussion with optional answers.

Hey, my dear Jen...Dang..we finally got the wrath of old Man Winter, this last week, and NEVER has it been this dang cold! High winds..-18 Celcius, so am making all sorts of typos, cause my house is actually cold. First really bad winter weather we have had this year. Just two weeks ago, I was out in shirt sleeves, weeding the Garlic. I do understand poll type questions, but I have answered some in the past, when new here...one really sticks out in my mind (and it was by a senior member) about ice cream flavours, and her's was Licorice. She couldn't find it anywhere, and it is common here...YUCK! I guess it really depends on how it is asked. I just really would like to learn from my mistakes..and learn best when the error of my ways are explained to me! How's your ISP holding up with your course? Visions of anything warm, are dancing thru my head...even Rainbows make me think of warmer weather! HUGZ, little one!

As everybody said, there’s no way those can be retrieved. However, there’s one thing I must say about mylot is that when a discussion which is a poll or a duplicate one comes up, why doesn’t mylot delete it straightaway! Instead of waiting for people to respond and then delete those responses, just delete the violating discussions the moment they come up!!!

That is truly a brilliant thought..truly brilliant! It sure would save a lot of time if that were implemented, wouldn't it? I would be very impressed in myLot would poll the senior members (high ranking) like yourself, for upgrades and wise suggestions...as you folks have seen it all, here..and could make some very knowledgable improvements! Hire a senior member for a week..to be Admin..LOL! Thank you..take care...and Cheers!

i'M afraid i can't help u, u know i am technology illiterate, lol. I do hate when that happens & don't understand why the responder should pay. i gotabout 5 notifications like that the other day & i know i had not answered those discussions. One was about angelina jolie & i wouldn't waste my time answering a discussion about her to start with.I sent mylot a notification but never heard anything from them of course.

Good morning, dear Lady! WOW...you are right on track with me, 3 of them they told me the authors...but I had responded to 3 that they had started that day, so don't know which one. The reason for posting this is that I really thought it would be a learning curve, finding out what constitutes deletion. Gotta figure out how to relate the tempereature to you...as this is the coldest I have felt it in 30 years! Now...the snow is falling, so I guess you sent all the bad weather you had my way....just so I couldn't be smug!! HUGZ & LUV!!

At least, dear JO...she spared us the dump of snow that hit all around us. Seriously, we were blessed yesterday! Like we were living in a bubble...our Capital City, Victoria..got hit with 14+ inches in about 10 hours...Vancouver on the other side of us, got about 5 inches. I guess Mother Nature gave us a reprieve after centering that Earthquake so close to us! YES...it was tooooo funny, soon as I got out of bed this morning, "Brui" pulled the quilt off the bed, dug a hole in it, and burrowed underneath...it is even toooooo Cold for him...LOL! They are predicting one more day of this awful cold...then gradually warming up! Can't wait! LUV & HUGZ!

Thank you, bunnybon, for the kind words...and massaging my ego! I just feel really bad, always, if I should be the blame for something happening to some-one else! MyLot is no different than anything else, learn something new everyday...and I know I could really learn, if I knew why the discussions were deleted! Ah, well I learned, that I cannot learn..LOL! Hope all is in good order, healthwise...bunnybon! Take care..and Cheers!

Some times no matter what you do a discussion will be deleted. When I hit a losing streak like yours, I don't trust my judgment on what discussions might be deleted. During those times I look at the tags specifically to see if the words "reported", "violation", "guideline violation", etc is there. Yes, it is possible the discussion can be reported later; but it has been my experience, discussions that violate are reported promptly. If I see one of those tags, I just move on to another discussion!!!

WOW! Thank you, for such good information! Now, I am truly amazed at what a "neophyte" I am in this game. You have given me such great straight answers...and now thinking back on it, it seems that several of the deletions come from the same poster...DUH! I cannot believe how "uneducated" I am, even tho' I am careful about guidelines...I did NOT know, I could check "tags" for violation! Thank you, LadyMarissa...I have a whole new world to explore!

Brilliant is ...where brilliant comes from, and you were my source today. And like you...I really am NOT concerned about the loss of a penny or two...my concern is my "myLot" reputation, which I would like to keep in a respective zone. Once, it dropped...and I never knew why, and I was almost too embarassed to come back..! I do, so enjoy this community...and learning. Take care...and Cheers!

I would love to claim that I was the brilliant person who figured this out; however, this wonderful information was passed onto me from another beloved member!!! Of course, there are times the tags indicated it has been reported as a guideline violation & I don't agree. For those times, I keep my response short & sweet so I still get my point across & the most I lose is a penny or maybe less!!! I hope you find that it cuts down on the deleted discussions to which you respond & increases the efficiency of the time you spend on myLot!!!!

Hello pergammano and good morning. I have had discussions deleted tat the reason really is puzzling. I do wish that myLot administration would state the guidelines that are violated when they do delete a discussion. I have like you been very careful about which discussions I post on. Sometime they simply say that a posting after me is against the guidelines and the whole discussion is gone. Some time I feel that maybe a troll has something against some one in the discussion and report it as being against the guidelines and being our community is so large maybe administration doesn't really have the time to really check each discussion individually. We can only guess the reason.

As for the trolling my guess would be that it is the person starting the discussion though I have like you felt it was me but also like you am not confrontational. I had several discussion about cooking that were not recipes I took part in that simple talked about how we prepared food deleted but didn't seem to violate the guideline unless some one after me was in violation.

AHA...thanks, Dee...I still am some-what confused on recipes, as I have seen recipes posted here..in the body of the response! Another thing I am confused about ...and I can't seem to find a list, is the contraband words! And I am not talking about swear words...some non-confrontational words, used in every day language, that I guess have two meanings! Oh, well...too soon I get old, too late I get smart! Thanks, again, dee!

Thank you, dee...now all you wonderful people are giving me such good and alternate perspectives! I guess, my real frustration is that; if it was my mistake that the discussion was deleted...I would like to know what I did wrong! But all this good advice, from all you learned ones....there is many reasons! I really do try to "tread" lightly...be non-confrontational, but now you have me thinking...so many, in such a short length of time...am I being trolled??? I guess I just have to let the chips fall where they may. Truly, thanks, dee and have a great day!

Hullopergammano! in the case of my deleted discussion it was a guideline violation becasue it resembled a game where participants are invited .This was the reason given in my notification.

Holy smoley...you dear thing! Revived this old discussion, did you! I truly am sorry about your discussion...as I so was enjoying it. It was like a novel I couldn't put down...and slowly each was adding their input! Love it...and am truly sad (NOT for the pennies) for the great information I was gleening, as to how/what motivated our friends here!

I have had a few of those too....and don't understand why they have been deleted. I think in the course of my years here there have been alot of duplicated discussions but how can a new person know that? I had one of mine deleted too because is didn't go by the guidelines...not enough to make a discussion out of? Oh well...live and learn.

It's almost funny, jillhill...I am what is referring to as an "eggshell" person, conduct my life like I am walking on eggshells...so that I don't intrude..or violate. So, truly, thanks for massaging my ego..! But, in self-defense (due to my aforegone description of me)I usually only respond to safe issues..so I am presuming (I hope) it wasn't me that caused the demise of the decision to delete. Ha..ha..jill, your last comment..that's what I wanted...to learn. Take care and Cheers!

Sometimes it's because the poster listed a referral link. I responded to one recently even though I knew it would be deleted, taking a chance that the response would go to the poster's inbox. I told them referral links were against the rules, the rules that they should read before making any more discussions! Other times it's something like "do you like to eat oranges in the morning?" which isn't exactly stimulating subject matter! It's not exactly a poll but is phrased like one so it will be deleted--because the poster did not add any other content other than "I like oranges in the morning, do you?" I avoid those.

Good Morning..and Thank YOU dragon! I sure do understand what you are saying.."apples and oranges", flavour of ice cream..do you like? I am guilty or NOT responding to one=line discussions, like that! And I truly, DO PAY attention to people with a respective track record like you, and your manner of responses! Gosh, now two more questions have emanated; I have responded to discussions with referral links...but do not read the links, as I was warned by the technician that sub-links are fraught with diseases...AND, seeings that I have been involved with so many deleted discussions in such a short time...I know it affects the money (that's not what I am here for) BUT does it affect my reputation? Thanks, dragon..and have a great day!

I know how you feel, pergammano. I have always my share of those. I wonder why I don´t keep away from danger. Religion, politics and earning money are sure ways of getting into trouble. But there are some posts you´d never guess they´ll ne deleted. Those are the psots that are duplicates for instance. It´s a pity. SO much work. Take care!

EGADS!!! I just have to STOP falling in those "post holes!" LOL! And, guess I will have to pay more attention about duplicate posts! That horrible weather has not hit here yet, I was really surprised this morning to find the power still on...I was all prepared for candlelight and woodstove coffee...but now they are saying the worst will hit at 10 a.m. this morning! That will mean we are marooned on the Island...as the Ferries cannot, and do not run in high winds. Sure wish I was heading to Aruba...and it sounds absolutely delightful, as I love the Dutch and the "Hollandaise" influence, I have, from 100 years ago, some very good friends actually living in Holland! And I remember their great influence on the Dutch Indies, and was really surprised h ow the Dutch have seriously incorporated Indian culture food in their daily diet! Supposed to be windy..outside...NOT in my long responses. Take care and HUGZ!

WE might go together to seek thge sun when your winds blow too much in years to come, friend. I did not imagine I´d be able to earn enough money online to pay for a ticket and I´m doing it. A woodstove sounds romantic (except when you have to get the wood, I suppose).

There is no way that you can retrieve them once they have been deleted off the site. It wasn't anything you did anyway, as you were just responding, and it was the ones who started them that violated the guidelines. I have responded to lots of discussions that have been deleted because of guideline violations. It does happen to all of us at one time or another. I am always helping the newbies that come in here as I know that they need help in earning here, and if I see that they have violated the guidelines, I will tell them, even though I know I will lose earnings too, but it isn't all that much anyway. Since I have been here for awhile, I feel it is my duty to help those that need it and not worry about my earnings. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Thank you, rosekiss...and yes, I do see your kind responses on sooo many of the "neophyte" posts, and I do know that you have helped me along the way, too, for which I "thank you!" Either I don't spend enough time here, OR? I am wondering, too...."if every once in awhile, the policing here is intensified" as that particular week..there was a myriad of "lotters" complaining about the same thing, and one senior member, even had their post restored. Good people like you have restored my faith, as I really did not want to be the reason for the demise of a post. Thank you, once again, rosekiss. Take care!

Yes, it affects your earnings in that what you earned from responding are taken back due to the fact that the discussion is gone & so is your response!!!

I also wonder about those discussions I have responded to deleted. When I got mylot notification about it, I don't see anything wrong with the discussion of those people why it has deleted. I'm careful in selecting topics to respond to but somehow even how harmless those discussions are it still seems to be deleted. I just tell myself that it's my fault responding on those discussion.

@perga, I was wondering why I wasn't notified about your reply here but anyway, it's true sometimes I or shall I say we may not care which post may be deleted especially when we really wanna get involved in a discussion and if we think it's fun @sunny, the copy and paste discussion was the main reason why I had to reach 1000th post twice plus two other discussions from someone else but these were okay since we all can make mistake sometimes.
