When you are in your high school days or for those who are still high school. How do you find the mathematics subject? Do you hate it? or do you love the subject and challenge to answer every question or problem it has?

Yes I love mathematics even though I'm not so good at it. I like it for the reason that it is challenging. I remembered having a mathematics book and tried to answer it as best as I could and then check if I was progressing. Fortunately it worked for me and I did better because of that especially when I entered college. Another thing I liked about it is that it makes me think and solving math problems is fun to me.

I agree with saisa, in order for us to be familiar with the process and solving we need to have a constant practice on the problem. Try to look for problem and solve it for your self. Once you solve it, it has a different fulfillment that you will feel. That is why I also like mathematics because its a challenging subject and once you solve it, its really rewarding and fulfilling...

I guess when we are doing calculations/computations we need not memorize but become familiarize with it. I know you can do it carmela just continue doing it. I'm gonna cheer for you.hehe Try to look for more examples first and then learn how it's done. Then try to solve the same problems again on your own and when you already got familiarized with it then you can solve other problems as well.

I think math is a love it or hate it subject and I really do hate it. I am struggling now with some problems that is just eating me up.. I don't struggle with every problem, and I know once I get it in my thick head how to do this, I can..Problem is, it is not an interesting subject for me, so unless I continue working certain problems, I will forget. Like in borrowing when subtracting fractions, I haven't done that in weeks and then a problem like that came up and my head was empty on how to work it out. Oh, I forgot, I am taking these class in college, but it is so DEV, I still have another course to take to make it to algebra. So yeah, I am not even in algebra yet, that shows how much I don't like this subject..lol

Perfect, you got it. Expose more to the problem in order for you to practice and familiarize everything. So at the end it would be easy for you to solve it no matter what way or the other way you can easily got it.

I think what we need is exposure to this subject. It's a weakness of mine also that time and I have noticed that we often spend less time with the subjects where we don't do well. So I gave much time for math than with the other subjects. I know I can do very well with other subjects but not with math so I concentrated more on it. Yes I'm still not that good but it got my interest and at least made improvements. Maybe try to expose yourself more with it so that you'll get used to it.

Oh sorry I didn't mean to double post above. My internet connection is slow when I responded this afternoon. Anyway I wasn't also that interested before with math until I decided to make a move and this is what I did and it worked.

When I was at primary school I found it hard to grasp Mathematical topic. Just as I got it then the teacher would move on to the next topic. Then when I went to secondary school I was in the below average group for Mathematics. In the third year we were streamed for our General Certificate of Education. I got into set 6 out of 8. I had the most terrible teacher. He said if I was so thick he wouldn't bother to tell me explain it again. I ended up not bothering with Maths and got a grade F. Years later I went to Maths evening classes and came away with a grade C. Then I was able to get on to my teacher training. The sort of Maths I teach is enjoyable for the young children.

Even if you experience some bad things about your math teachers. You still opted to go on. Unlike the others they would settle in hating it and wont even try to understand that math is just an easy one. I am happy to hear that children enjoying the math.

I remember hating it. It was so hard, but it was a miracle I passed.

I was just good at following directions and note taking. You just simply replace the numbers to the formulas that were taught.. I never understood it.. but I just followed the direction. Sad, that that's how I got by.

Do you have a passing grade, just enough for you to pass it. Some of the math teachers they are being considerable and kind enough to let their students pass. Even if it did not pass on the markings they will just pull it up to some other aspects like attendance, behavior.

When I was in high school Mathematics is neither hard or easy but it's a challenging subject that always invite me to answer and study in advance. I had a recognition medal for being excellent in Math. however, the story changed after I went to college. Math became one of the hard stuffs plus the unloving teacher in class made me more felt terrible and began to hate it. lol!

Hello Friend. its to nice to know that aside from that you are good in english, your also good in math. According to them you will only be good in one aspects not both. So if you are good in english, your not so good in math or numbers and vice versa. But that is not the issue. Sad to know that because of the teacher you felt bad with the subject as well. In teaching math so that it will not be boring I guess teacher needs to prepare some activity that would catch the interest of the students. I just hope that teacher of yours learn the different aspect in teaching the math.

I am so happy to hear that you also like the mathematics. Even if you hate it you still find time and get the chance to know more of calculus right, you are being challenge with the calculus and you wanted to really solve it, right?

Math was one of my favorite subjects back then. It's an exact science. No estimates, no guesses. Just one correct answer. And that's what I find interesting. And exciting as well. Coming up with that one final answer after a very long equation. I was good at math compared to other subjects. When we were in HS, every friday, our Algebra teacher would prepare an activity for the whole class wherein she would create different trivia questions and situations wherein you must find the mathematical answer in that. It was one of the school activities I actually enjoyed and looked forward to every week. I loved math. In fact, I still do. It was one of my best subjects!

Its good to know that you like math, because a lot I know really hates math. Since they hate it, they started saying its difficult without even trying on it. I am happy to know that one of your math teacher did a very good job in making the class math very interesting for everyone because of that activity.

I am sorry to hear about that. Its not new to me that some would really hate mathematics. I just hope you wont hate it forever, give sometime to open it up and I guess you will surely love it. Its very interesting, exactly once you follow the rules and memorize the rules your good to go..
