What's your goal: lose weight or gain weight?

For as long as I remember, I have always been thin in my life except when I had my pregnancy. I really have a hard time gaining weight no matter what I eat. I hardly want to be seen by my relatives as I would always know what their reaction would be. They would always say "Can you please eat and gain weight!" So, I'm currently trying this supplemental milk my previously equally thin office mates used to increase their appetite. It is quite pricey but I think it would work. It work for them, maybe it can work for me too. I have just been using it for a week, yet often times I feel hungry even if I am already eating. I really need to work up because I want to get pregnant again. How about you Mylotters, do you wish to gain a few pounds or do you want to shed some pounds? Why do you want to? Are you doing something to achieve your health goals?

wow i am doing the opposite. Even since i got pregnant with my kids, i gained a lot of freakin weight! When i was still in college i was just like 45 kilos and i was super thin no matter how much i eat. But when i had my daughter, the eldest, i gained till 72 freakin kilos!! and it was soooo frustrating because after i gave birth i tried to loose weight but it does not come easily. It was the hardest part, but right now after having my 3rd child, i am already 60 kilos and hoping to loose more so i will get my old body back. It is a hard work because i am a lover of chocolates and pastries, they are like my comfort food and i cannot do without them, but i am trying to have discipline not to eat them too often. Maybe you're metabolism is just too fast that you easily burn calories. how i wish i am that way too. lol

True Jazel! That's why some women who can't do it in the long run, take the easy way by going under the knife. They'd do liposuction. If money is not a consideration would you do it?

Let's trade places Jazel . I love chocolates too! Although I'm trying to avoid it for now. It's giving me the sore throat. Women! Why can't we be satisfied with our bodies!

I want to grow. I want to be bigger, stronger, which may make me heavier. I never wanted to be a thin person, though I have tried a couple of times, but although the clothes selection was larger, I felt sick and weak. Actually, I was weak. I have always been a heavy person, but when I was younger, I was a chubby kid, and picked on. But I played sports heavily (I was only good at football), and grew out of control (I was a late bloomer, lifting weights, so when the growth spurt kicked in, I turned into a monster). I became addicted to the big muscle because I was doing things that took several people to do, and it caused other to back away. I don't play football anymore because I am too much to handle. One of my friends put it that If I am pushing a three ton truck with no problem, I would crush a 200 pound guy. They were right. I did become addicted to having large muscles, and animal strength, and kept on lifting weights in hopes of getting bigger and stronger. The thing is I am already bigger than most people, and have crazy strength. I have a monster appetite (let's just say if I am eating like a horse, then I am snacking, that is how much food I go through for fuel), and I have broken a scale because of how heavy I am, but I just like the feel of being a gorilla, and as strong as one.

I'm sorry. I didn't want to become a bodybuilder. I don't have that kind of discipline, even though I have been told that I have the potential. I am always asked if I played football, or am I a weightlifter. I just like that feeling of being big, heavy, and powerful, where I don't need much help doing things. I like having large muscles in a way to show off, but it intimidates people they see this huge muscled person, and worry what could set me off, and if I will kill them and eat them. I am quite the opposite unless one crosses the line, then I turn green with anger. For example, I have a solid oak dresser that was too heavy for me to move, but now, I can carry it with the clothes and drawer still in it. One does have to get used to the new lifestyle of strong. My stomach is almost my largest expense because I love to eat, and I am always hungry, everything I drink is in a gallon jug (I spent more on milk than gas, and even with these gas prices I cost more than a car). My grocery shopping looks like I am feeding a family tree (FYI: family size dinners do not fill me up). Everything is so much smaller, clothes, car interiors, small tight spaces, other people, furniture, food servings, drinking glasses (I never thought I would drink a glass of something in one gulp). Everything breaks easy. The weight gain (FYI: I didn't want to be too heavy, but somehow, the more I workout, the heavier I was getting. I was worried that I would hit 300 pounds, but before I knew it, I was 315, and growing. Now I am 340 but don't look that big, and I weigh more than people that are bigger than me.) I was shy about telling people my weight because they would freak out (when the norm is for people to be thin, its hard for them to accept a person who has legs that weigh more than them and have more muscle than their bodies. But I also try to be careful about my health, while growing to the strongest person my body can handle. Sorry for the long response.

It is okay. Mylot is here for discussions and not just a simple Q&A thing. Wow! It must have cost you a fortune just to buy your weekly groceries. You must have work really hard just to get through.

Hi My goal obviously is to lose weight and because of my low BMR I really have to make extra effort to maintain my body weight. I really admire those lucky people who have high BMR and will not put on weight no matter how much they binge. Those who are trying to gain weight are truly very lucky.

Hi But why do you want to lose weight? Slim and trim people are more healthy and even when it comes to conceiving, obese people find it more difficult to conceive as compared to thin people. Weight gain has nothing to do with getting pregnant. Just eat wholesome, protein rich food and take multi-vitamin, multi-mineral supplements.

No matter what I eat I just don't gain weight. I just started my work up this month. I just have to do it if I want to achieve my ultimate goal of getting pregnant. It's harder than I thought.

I just need to be healthy. I had a miscarriage on my last pregnancy. And I know, the doctor would really require me to increase my weight. My husband told me jokingly, "If you don't gain weight, what will the baby hold on to you? Your bones?". Silly man!

Few weeks ago i was aiming to gain weight. i encountered lots of problems and worries then so i kind of missed my health or body needs. i lack of sleep almost everyday so i was coping with everything. thank goodness am kind of ok now. am trying not to think a lot and eat. get a lot of rest after work. i hope i wont gain much so i don't have to worry reducing in the next couple of days. i don't like it when people tell me i'm so thin. i don't feel sexy that way even though i don't have the sexiest body in the whole world. hahahaha.. i don't like havin much fat cause the type of clothes i wear would really show that i have fats.. hahaha..

Well what is important is we have a healthy body. Although it really can boost your confidence if you have a sexy body or having the curves at the right places. But as long as we are happy with the skin that we are in, I think that is just okay.

I would like to lose some weight, though not that much.. I actually just want to lose the tummy fat and the arms, but all other parts of my body are okay for me. Hehehe. It's hard to lose and trim weight, I just find myself always being lazy to do anything.. Even if I have all the reasons in the world to exercise some more (My sister is getting married in less than a month!).. but I.JUST.CAN'T. Hehe.. Hopefully I will get the drive and the energy to work out! cause who doesn't want to look good in a gown right?

Yup! If there is an occasion where our "love handles" should be out of sight, it is when we have to wear a gown. But if you can't lose it in such a short time, maybe you can "hide" them by using girdles.

I'm sorry for being inquisitive. What actually protein enriched foods do you usually eat? I only know of fish & nuts. So is it working? I think milk too helps in gaining weight. I am trying one right now as a supplemental milk. And I observed it is just my tummy that is increasing.

I have always been active all my life except these last 10 years I was diagnosed with depression. The way I binge eating almost made me a real fat woman ever since I live on this earth. I was always 45 kilos but now already 63 kilos but I already lose some kilos to make it 56 kilos. There is a long way to get to 45 kilos but I am determine to do it this year.

My goal is definitely to lose weight. I have gained more than 50 pounds when I was pregnant with my baby son. Although I have lost half of it so far for 5months but I'm still carrying the left half of the extra weight... I am very disatisfied with my body shape right now, the summer is coming, I want to wear the fitted in clothes and dresses... but I can't do that with my fatty waist... I have started to take my baby for walks since two days ago, hopefully, the weather will just turn warmer and warmer so I can do that more often in order to get myself back to shape!

Yup, we can incorporate exercises in our daily routine without necessarily going to a gym. I only gained weight when I was pregnant and shed it off in 2 months and even more. It really is nice to have some flesh clinging to your clothes.

My ultimate goal is to lose weight, as opposed to yours. It's been so hard for me finding the best way to make this thing easy for me. But it was really hard to attain this dream. During my younger years, I was slim and petite as how they addressed me then. But now, it's the opposite. I found it hard to be fat. Not only for the reason of being unhealthy but it was hard to find the right dress to fit in with my huggable and so-healthy body as well.... It think, it's just like the way you feel, the hardship of attaining your dream to gain weight is as hard as mine in attaining the opposite. But I think, it depends on our body frame. AS of now, I'm not dreaming for a very sexy and lovable body but just a physically fit and healthy body will do. Hope we could both attain our goals of live with a healthy body. Happy mylotting.

I was like you growing up. I was always thin, and I had problems gaining weight. While others struggle with losing a few, I never had any problems eating whatever I want, except of course I remained skinny. That's all changed when I got into weight training and I had to stop for an appendectomy. After my surgery, my body turned normal and I could now hold weight.

Stop trying to gain weight because of others speaking bad about your body. The important thing is that you feel good with it, and a thin body is always more attractive than a fat one. People use the "eat something" card when they're jealous because they can't get their bodies to be as thin as yours. In this society nowadays there's a pro-obesity movement, so thin people are always attacked and insulted, what I find stupid. Ignore that, as it doesn't make sense. If you want to gain weight for yourself, because you see yourself better with a few more kilos, then go on, but not because of what jealous losers say. And regarding your question, now I'm happy with my weight and I'm not really aiming to change it

Hi Madteaparty! I'm happy you are happy in your own skin. Not all people are like that. Most tend to be dissatisfied with their weight, and on how they look to other people. And I am no exemption to that. But my real motivation to really take that effort to gain weight is to get pregnant. I really want to carry my child to full term and not experience another miscarriage. So I need to make myself healthy. You have a good point. You have to do it because you really wanted to be healthy and not because what others say about you.

hi.. My goal right now is to gain weight. Because a year back i use to be around 60 kg, But now i am only 49 kg. I reduced weight for Judo tournament last week, Because the tournament is based on weight, Now as the tournament is over, i have to put up weight again. So i am eating as much as i can to gain weight.

Wow Cody! That is amazing. You can go back to your desired weight easily. Is that has something to do with being an athlete? In boxing, the boxers tend to target the weight in the division they are competing. After which they can bloat or gain weight during the bout.

Hi sweet pea, I am like you, on the slim size or considered under weight for my height. It doesn't matter how much or what I eat I just can't seem to gain weight. All my life people have said, "Wow! you are so thin." I always used to joke with them that my one ambition in life was to reach 9 stone (and today I have reached that goal, but am still under weight for my size). But then I went to live in Thailand, their outlook on shape and size was totally different, out there I was told, "you have Thai body. You not like man from the West." All the time I lived out there I never gave my slimness a thought, especially as I met other holiday makers passing through used to ask me, "How do you keep so slim." But now I am living back in England and here everyone is still obsessed with weight, shape and size and again I am getting, "You need to put on more weight," even my doctor here has asked, "Have you always been so thin?" Now a days, I just turn a deaf ear to it all. I am fit, healthy and feel good and I would rather be the way I look than obese and over weight with health problems that go with obesity.

Hi Leigh! What is really important is for us to have a healthy body. It is really nice to know you are happy in your own skin. Well people have a different notion of what is an ideal body depending on the places you go to. As long as you feel good about yourself and is healthy, that is really okay.

After giving birth, I thought these extra pounds are a bit normal.. but after about 8months I think this aint normal at all! I need to lose weight, thanks for reminding me. :( But since I work online and I am sitting most of the time I don't get to do much activity and I am too tired to do some exercise after too. But sometimes, when I feel like doing stuff, I put on a taebo dvd and try hard to follow the drill. I just wish I can lose weight overnight.

Well so far I don't have weight problems. I'm normal and healthy. At the moment I'm maintaining my weight and shape. I am just lucky that with discipline I am able to gain this present state. Used to be extremely thin. My friends would even laugh at me because my clothes almost dangled on my body. By then I really had to use a belt to hold my pants or else it'll fall. But with discipline I'm able to achieve this. With exercise and proper diet it's a sure kill. Glad I also found a really nice product that helps in normalizing my weight... :)

Good for you Hemlock! It is really quite irritating when people you know would say you should gain more weight. It doesn't really boost your confidence. I too experienced what you've experienced. People say I'm a hanger, because I'm just too thin for my clothes and I too have belts for my pants, otherwise I might go on walking without them. Anyway, I'm trying this product for almost a week now. Hopefully I would gain more weight as I used it. For now, the only part of my body that is increasing is my tummy. I hope to be like you soon!
