Hello guys. I'm pretty sure anyone had this. You know, when you go to Facebook at the newest status messages. Do you also get some annoying status, like if someone just writes "I'm sad". It's like he or she wants to get attention. Or I have someone that writes at least once everyday: "My Love", "

Well I dont like the application invite too..but those people were updating their status to this and that... is totally fine with me... sometimes I do that when Im lonely and when I want somebody to talk, but it doesnt mean that I just wanna grab everybodys attention,it just that I wanna share my feelings and thoughts, coz I was away to my family and friends due to moving to other country... and thank God I have FB and yes we can chat and I can send my question privately why post it? coz sometimes I need to feel my friends and family being there for me even with just words...

Heh, I can understand if someone writes that sometimes. I don't mind that. Sometimes I do this too. But some people go over the top with that and have to write that everyday in every possible minute, which makes the person look like it wants attention as much as possible.

I also don't mind the status updates, whether they are to gain attention or not. it's a SOCIAL networking site. The whole point for having status updates is to *GASP* have people update their current status with something that's on their mind at the time. They can put whatever they want. I do agree, however, about the Facebook games updates. There is no reason I need to know every time someone earned 3 cows in FarmVille or grew a potato or something. I don't play these games, nor will I ever. I own an XBox 360 for my gaming needs.

I absolutely hate the invitations to Farmville, etc. Most of the people that send me requests for these do not even speak to me otherwise. It would be nice to get a hey, how are you? or something, besides the games. I don't play games, they are a waste of time. I play games that I can win points for cash or giftcards, not those other goofy timewasters. I merely ignore them. That's all you can do.

Haha, yeah. I still have 8 game invitations pending. I just never look at them and just ignored. I did play some games at the beginning but it got boring really fast. Also, since when can you actually win points for cash in Facebook? I never knew that!

You can actually go into your privacy settings and make it so that those invites are not sent to you. I turned all of them off, so if someone in my list is trying to send an invite my name is not in the list.

If someone says they're sad, it's better if they say why... because then they WILL get lots of support and hugs in a moment. Happened to two of my friends recently. One woman I know lost her baby (such sad news to see) but on the other hand it's really heartwarming to see the the responses of support. Another friend got robbed of a year's work (he's a musician - his recording equiptment got stolen) and the same thing happened - a massive rallying of support. You can hide annoying people from your newsfeed. Some people I just mentally block out and I never even look at applications. BUT what does annoy me, is if you join a fan page or group for someone you like or admire and someone just posts a couple of those lose-weight/earn-money spam posts on their wall. Hate those.

Heh, that's what I want to point at. The support is far bigger if you also write WHY you're sad. That way, I know why and I would most likely give a supporting comment for the person.

When it comes to status's saying they are sad or something. That is what they are feeling and letting everyone else know. Now it is up to you if you want to respond or just leave it and know that is how they are feeling. I can understand your opinion on this too. If I want my family and friends to know the same thing going on, I will post it in my status. Other wise it is one that says something like, "Share a Smile, :)" and leave it that way for days. I don't mind the other comments/status's I just read through and go on my way.. We all post differently for our own purpose's.

I get that. would be better to post that way. Some though don't want to post all the personal stuff going on. If it is someone I am close with I will ask that question, Why?. See if they answer.. most times they will either in a post or send an email letting me know what is going on that they didn't want to post in FB. I do see your point .. I only do that with those that are close to me, like family and close friends.

Yeah, it can be true. But sometimes I would love to see why he or she is sad. I mean, it could like write: "I'm sad. Just had fight with my best friend" than I mostly answer this. When someone only writes "I'm sad" then it sounds like he or she seriously wants someone to comment so that she gets attention. I know it doesn't have to be like that but I just get this feeling.

i thought that was what it was about. to write how you feel at that minute. o.k. if you are bored or in love. i do not ignore them. ut some of the people that i had for friends i ended up blocking. i think that people has a right to say what they are feeling or thinking at that time

Yeah, while I don't mind if someone feels right at the minute, some tend to take this over the top. They for example have to write this every hour and this can get annoying, because the person always writes something every hour and at the end you feel tired to read the person's messages.

I can understand very well what you are pointing at, this is getting seriously annoying when people repeatedly update their stories of facebook games in their status. Sometimes they just write two three confusing words and sometimes they curse others.

I enjoy Facebook and it has proven to be a great way to stay in contact with those that I went to school with--there just weren't that many with MySpace and MySpace took far to long to upload. I do enjoy the status updates however, I DO find that those that are of the teenage variety tend to update their status message repeatedly and I mostly just ignore them. I do play games however I don't invite all my friends to the games...some I know play some I know don't and others that I am not sure of, I simply don't invite them. Many do not do these things and it would be nice if they did.

My father actually has his friend's wife in Facebook. And even being an adult, she likes to write a lot of non sense almost every hour. Teens do tend to often write useless things but it can also happen with adults.

Hi. Neo1000. Welcome to myLot! Facebook has become really annoying, I will admit. That is why I don't like to be on Facebook at all. I get annoying game requests from a few of my friends. I never respond to them because the games never excite me. I am so good when it comes to ignoring things.

Every person, has the right to make a status on facebook, as long as that status is not insulting, or hurt other people. If you feel disturbed, you do not need to read the status of it, or you can remove that person from your friends list. Or you do not need to add friends, so you are not disturbed by the status of others.

Hello neo, I know what you are talking about. The best thing is to try to simply avoid such messages. If someone is really sad, you could be hurting them if right something without thinking. And as for the love thingies, just try to avoid them. I don't care much about others status, coz i can't see anyway i can associate with them. Those who have to comment on that, do comment. Me ? I am going to come here at mylot. .. Anyways, yeah about the game request, not those can annoy me. I don't like to see those requests in my profile but i don't think there is anything i can do about it. I am not really that much into the facebook thing in itself, maybe that is why i care less about other's status messages and all that.

28 Feb 11
That's why I mostly ignore those messages. I don't want to get some new enemies because I wrote a stupid comment. And I don't want to be mean with my friends or family. Hehe, well the love thing is sometimes annoying. Because I don't like to be greeted everyday with "I love you my girlfriend 22.02.08" or something else. It's making me a little feel that he thinks that I forget this at the next second and he needs to write this again. But oh well.

ahahahaa..i know what you mean exactly.. :D sometimes, peeople just got too exicited for updating their status on facebook and thats become annoying to others. i dont like that kind of status just like you, i prefer something more useful..but i dont mean i like the status of a facebook shop.. one time, i opened my facebook and i saw a lot of my friends were tagged by a facebook shop (you name it: clothes, shoes, watch, bla bla bla..) fiuhh.. thats way i dont make friend with any shop on facebook..hahaha.. :) afterall, i just ignoring that kind of status, never comment on my friend's annoying status.. :D
• Switzerland
28 Feb 11
Oh, so you mean those shops that have to write every hour about the newest shoes or something? Well, if I like a shop and do this, then it's quite normal for me. I mean afterall, I wanted to see the newest things of a specific shop. But yeah, ignoring is the best way. I also never comment useless status messages so I won't get any trouble. :P
28 Feb 11
Yea, some people wrote things that aren't necessary. They wrote everything they did, feel. For example, my friends just wrote "I love you honey", "I'm at bla bla bla". And usually he did it every few minutes. My facebook homepage are full with his status messages. Maybe, facebook can make a status limiter. So you can't write status unenessary rapidly.. What do you think?
• Switzerland
28 Feb 11
Yeah, I would love to see that. Especially some limit that looks if you wrote the same thing again. Because I have someone that everyday he always writes the same thing over and over.

Hi neo, Facebook is a very popular social networking site and it has eaten up most of the social networking sites like myspace or orkut. Now one thing the profile page of a person belongs to him and him only so he has every right to put anything he likes there. Yes it can be annoying but if you feel he is annoying you too much then you can delete him or block his posts. Very simple

I only don't like the ones that come from the application or games, when you get new scre or something, they post it on your wall, I think it is irritating, I don't wnat to see it on my wall or notice. For those status uploaded by my friends, I don't care very much, some of them gets very crazy and posts every hour like I'm in the bathroom./I'm bored./I'm hungry... so silly

The most annoying status would be something like " im doing laundry" with a picture of that person with clothes! I mean, the hell I care if you are doing your laundry, hello! its like we do not wash our clothes! I get annoyed with blow by blow statuses.Or " here at starbucks sipping on a java chip frappucino" like people care! Those are the people who are waiting to be praised " omg! you are such a socialite!"

Well I like reading facebook status messages except those like "I miss him..." and yeah the "I'm so sad today..." Things like that. Can really be annoying. Obviously they are fishing for comments. But as much as we hate them, there's nothing we can do about it, I mean the only thing we can do is ignore and move on. It's their facebook and we can't tell them to stop doing the annoying things they put there. What I do is that I hide their posts. :D

The statuses that really annoy me are the ones where people list their schedule of what they did/are going to do that day. Facebook isn't your journal, I'm pretty sure no one cares if you went to school, then work, then slept. That's nothing out of the ordinary and not really a good conversation starter or anything. Sometimes people make their statuses a little too personal, too. Like they give extreme detail on what's wrong with the relationship and whatnot. One girl I'm friends with is always writing statuses like "What would you think if your boyfriend did this with another girl" and all that...Facebook isn't an advice site, and that's just begging for drama. Facebook invites don't annoy me as much anymore since they are usually on the side of the page and I end up not noticing them most of the time.
