Do you find it strange when someone laughs when you haven't made a joke?

You are talking with someone...and you say something serious, and they burst out laughing. Or for no reason, they laugh at the top of their voice. Not maliciously. They are not laughing at you. It just seems inappropriate to you is all. How do you react? Are you resentful? Do you laugh with them? Do you ask why they laugh? Or do you just ignore it...what do you do? And why do you think they do this?

Maybe because in my youth I was laugh at more than laughed with , I would Strongly resent it. In fact I would just walk away, thinking they are not listening to me , so Why speak to them?

No worries. Having dear friends like you now has made up for it.I'm in a happy place because of your support. More mushy! I'm sorry.

i think if you are upset about something, they may be just trying to lighten your mood so you will not take things so seriously. my son does that sometimes and i asked him about it and that was his explaination. i hope thats what you was saying here. unless i misunderstood.

No; that's a very good point. They may detect seriousness or sorrow and are just trying to be cheerful. Thanks.

People laugh inappropriately because they are nervous and self conscious. I ignore them whenever possible. I also try to figure out what is making nervous and self conscious.

Ignoring is probably best; as it avoids confrontation.

Yes i do find strange when some one laughs when i haven't made joke.I don't laugh with them i just try to know why they are laughing and and after few minutes i do ask them what's wrong with them which things make them laugh. I think they recall some of the funny moment which is really bad as i am talking about serious matter. Good day!

I would try to ignore as if it is not really funny I see no reason to be upset. I would ask if they are okay though as maybe they are laughing to prevent any signs of being nervous.

Nervousness may well be at the bottom of it.

For me, I should do the same and laugh too. I shall laugh because of their responses. Maybe they couldn't understand or they have mentally problem. Never care ab out the response if you think you are right.
