Just seems like 85% of the world has cell phones and not since new networks are coming out for exam the new 4G networks like LTE and WiMax are hitting the United States with Ads to back it up. Just seems like having a phone is a need and everyone needs to have one to keep in contact with each other. Not only that but seems like we have to have the best phone too. With phones being able to do our most common everyday task it just seems like the better the phone the better. The smarter the phone the better the faster the better more powerful the better.

In all honesty I do not find a cell phone any longer to be a luxury. I find cellphones today as a necessity and although some do not need all the high tech applications and gadgets, most certainly do not need a landline and cell phone simultaneously. I am one that no longer has a landline and a cell is a must as I have to have contact with my children at all times. I also do not splurge on virtually anything so a cell phone is something I truly splurge on, so I like to have the best possible.

Hey hardworkinggurl, I think in time some people do end up just leaving the phone world to the side especially as some people get older they tend to just say phones are no longer important. Me I am so into phone and I love them a lot haha. My lover lol.. Isn't into phones as much. I love technology and will always love it .:) something I just need to have lol. I decided to go for the macbook air and i want it more then ever but if they are going to come out with a new one im going to wait a ottos longer so I can get my money worth haha. I have a landline but I use both. :)

I remember when I went to work and it wasn't completely charge all the way and i was going to flip out and scared that I wasn't going to be able to text my friends and my lover and family later on lol

I think I will always be fascinated by cell phones as I really like the fact that I can use it simply anywhere and always have it in case of emergency. I am one who practically has mine tied to my hip at all times. Also take with me to my room at night.

Hey jazel Juan Yor right who doesn't now and days everyone makes it seem like jaunty a phone is a need and no longer a want maybe a want but they try to make it seem like a need and a need is more important then a want so I guess that's way. Usually people that aren't into technology or don't like it or don't even want to give the chance to mess wit hit don't have cell phones

I don't know about every one else but I'm not so much into smart phones as I am into coverage. Since I live in a mountainous area I sometimes have places that I cannot get service. And since my job requires me to travel from place to place coverage is a must. The two companies that I have found with the best coverage are tracfone and verizon.

Oh okay that's pretty neat so the roam on other wireless company satellites pretty cool. I have virginmobike the signal is good but have some funny points where it goes down to to 2G which is sprint connections. But I'm going to try to get the around. HTC EVO 4G by sprint it's a 4G.

Tracfone has such excellent coverage because it has a contract with all the other companies that put up the towers to use their towers. When you can't get a signal from any other carrier you usually can with tracfone.

Hi pay, Do ducks go quack? Of course, once a luxury now an everyday item is the cellular phone. Strange as it may, but I usually miss my flash disk more than my cell phone whenever I'm out. It is the frequency of the usage that gets me. I don't usually leave home without my usual accessories: flash disk, Phillips screwdriver, measuring tape, magnifying glass, sunglasses, wristwatch, swiss knife, and most them I used a lot. Now I found I could go out without a cellphone, I don't make calls or send text messages that much. Needless to say, I don't load up for long periods of time, up to two months at least. In the inventory of cellphone usage among my tools, the cellphone actually comes nine in a scale of ten.

Other then that I don't use anything more then that I know when I get my macbook air i would go crazy and never put it down for awhile and take it with me every where and The charger haha. It would make my list longer but.. Can't wait till Ivey my hands on one of those babies haha

Yeah, it is just now that I took inventory of my must haves when I leave home. Please add my 10x40 binoculars, VHF Radio (yes, we still use them on my line of work), sign pen, mechanical pencil, notebook, card reader and butane gas lighter. People may say I am not loaded down with these small things located in my various pockets, I don't put them in a bag, and I use them all with varying frequency in the course of a day's work (LOL!).

Yes, and in fact I have two phones for different purpose, personal and business usage. One is ordinary phones, the other is what we call smartphone where I put notes and do some other things using it. But what I really like is if the manufacturer could make a device which we use for phone function, without so many bloated thing that make it big and heavy. I wonder why don't they make it smaller and lighter with only phone function and of course cheaper :), instead of adding so many things which we perhaps never use :(

Hey Soltion, You have a good point there about why dont they make just a basic phone. I guess now and days a basic phone is cheap. Some take pictures and you can text on them and not so complex but if what your saying a simple phone that is like extremely thin and only has simple purposes like text and calling. maybe even picture and video thats it. Nothing high tech. I think because not so many people will buy if its crazy thin I might just to have it haha.
1 Mar 11
Well, I'll buy, you'll buy, may be there will be lot of people like us who want just simple basic phone anyway, but who knows :(

That's good i think if you have something that does everything you need and stuff that's perfect. I myself have a landline as well and a cellphone I tend to use my cell for family and friend connections and etc. I use e house phone for important stuff like bills and job and when I file a resume I put my house number and my cell phone but most of the time it's my house phone they contact.

I started maintaining a mobile from my 11th std. but this generation is too fast, they are demanding the mobile right from schooling and the kids got tuned to it even, when a baby is crying then the first thing the parents are doing is that keeping a ringtone a song louder and giving them and even the kids start laughing or enjoying, simply they are getting tuned to that. And i don't have that passion towards mobile but my cousins(younger ones) always give me information about new trends(mobiles) and always demand their parents about those, so that they'll try to achieve good marks in the examination. :-O

Yes I do have a cell phone. I dis have a landline at one time too, but at the end of 2008, I decided that I got tire of paying for both a cell phone and a landline. I can take my cell phone with me wherever I go, whereas the landline phone can't. I do think that cell phones are quite popular, and most people have just decided to keep the cell phone, and get rid of their landline. I don't know what I would do without my cell phone, as it has been very valuable to me, and I would certainly be lost without it. I use it everyday, so to be without it would be very hard, and it does keep me in contact with my daughter who lives in another state, so i probably won't get to see her to often. We can also video chat as well, which I do like as well, as seeing her on the phone, is just like having here her with me. Take care, and have a very good day.

Hey rosekiss Yeah they did replace landing line phones I also take my phone everywhere with me lol I don't think there is a time that I don't have phone by inside lol. I think with the new technology today phones can video chat with one another and to me that's the future and before you know it all phones will have a front facing camera and everyone can chat it will replace calling but I don't know abot testing everyone loves to text hah. Maybe even interview will be done over Skype or chat with phones with the qik app lol phones are the future

Some people just too obsessed with what kind of phone they have, and they willing to spend that kind of money to have a brand new, and variety of functions of phone too. I just can't stand that much money must be spent on a cell phone and with its plan along with it.

Yeah I wouldn't consider myself one of those people but I do like a good up to date phone they come in handy and make you look good I guess haha but some phones are worth a finger and a thumb and it's crazy how that happens people tend to just try to get what ever they want lol the plans and the phone cost sometimes a deposit can add up to a lot I do agree I think that is what turn most people down like myself hah

I do have a cellphone. It's a disposable one that is prepaid. All I do with it is make calls. I don't text. I don't have a land line. It is a necessity, not a toy. I spend between $10 and $20 a month for minutes, and that is enough for me. If I want to play games or find info, I use the computer in my home.

I have been using this gadget ever since it came out in the market. I just use a phone that is not expensive but reliable. All I need is a phone that can call and text and receive calls and I do not have a need for all the advance features of an expensive phone.

Only had myself a phone last year, my mum's actually. Was eighteen then and didn't really see much need in using one. Bought a new one due to a faulty speaker and buttons that had lost its former appeal a long time ago. This one's white, comes with a unique built-in camera such that it is capable of taking blurry, sometimes heavily pixelated, pictures and of course a memory size so efficient such that it can't even stand the strain of twenty songs. Not complaining, least could still use it to perform its most basic function...

I am currently using the ipphone 4 and can't think of anything else I would be using as a cellphone. It is as close to having a PC in the palm of your hand as you can think of. I'm sure there are things in the future that will be better and faster than the iphone but it has not come yet. I am still on the 3g network and that is good enough for me. 4G is not practical yet because it takes up too much battery power and that isn't worth the update. Stick with the 3g for now. They will be making 4g more mainstream in a year or so.

Hey Asianjabba, When you have higher speeds usually it increases load up time and gets the task done faster. I dont think a phone that uses 4G will lose battery because its made for that. The only time battery will go done is if its on WiFi. I dont know why but all phones battery die fast with WiFi. Right I have a 3G 4G is getting stronger and the ranges are increasing but taking there time. Thats cool that you have a iPhone 4 I have the iPad.. Love it. :)

I have a cell phone. However, I can go without it. I use to be on call 24/7 and wouldn't leave the house without my phone. Now I don't find it as important. I think kids shouldn't have cell phones. It has taught them that we can text instead of have a verbal convesation. I believe this will impact their lives in the workforce.

Maybe you are right If we keep texting over time the new generation wont really know how to communicate. I guess school is there for that but talking over a phone can be a skill sometimes.

The answer will be yes for most of the people today as world is feeling the revolutionizing it sector. Now a days mobile number is used at the place of address and identity. From voice analog calls now we are seeing data download at a speed of upto 27mbps in 4g and also on some HSPDA networks. I think in next one decade 90% of world population will have a mob number and the data transfer will increased by many times.

Hey Akhileshebay, I agree with you, the internet speeds are increasing and technology is keeping up with it which is awesome but it can be a little scary because before you know it those flying cars and almost invisible tvs soon will be here.. I read recently samsung brought a new TV that is 0.2 inches think. Thats insane. before you know it will be invisible. like it isnt there and reflect off your wall allow it to blend in with the wall would be optional haha. Soon it will be just like a LED Glass and you can see right through it and the edges will be the color being force into into the glass. Technology is awesome.. cell phone user population will increase believe that haha

Before cellphones are just part of the wants now they became a necessity. But I don't think we need a highly sophisticated phone as long as we could use it to its real purpose. I have a sophisticated phone I admit, but all the hype and excitement lasted to about only 3mos. Now i use it only just the way an ordinary or "low tech" cellphones. Sometimes it's just for show-off but its all the same.

Hey Vannyt, I agree, with all the high tech stuff out things always seem to change over time lol. That cool phone of your because the oldest. Something better always comes out. People just buy buy buy it lol. With all the technology out people tend to use it for all purposes which companies are trying to do make it something quick easy small and fast so some are big but very thin. after while you just see it as oh my phone hahah awesome phone when we first get it but after awhile we get use to it i dont know what it is with that.. lolol weird
