I don't know how many of you are aware of this news. Just tomorrow in our local news paper(DINAMALAR), I came across this interesting matter. It quoted that the sky was seen green near a lake of Canada on February 2011 and there was a photo too. It speaks of some 11 year cycle of Sun's heat and in December 2012, a new cycle is going to get started and there will be problems to the satellites and transformers in the first case. And there will be long nights and therefore more criminal activities. Scientists say that they will try to face this situation. And what is your opinion on this?

Ganesh, you have mentioned 'Just tomorrow in our local news paper(DINAMALAR), I came across this interesting matter'. I wonder how none of the other members have not noted it. Or Do you have the power to see in future.

ramesh! I was feeling so tired and sleepy at the time of posting it and hence the error. I realized it very late and left it as such. Anyhow, I am glad to see you laughing like that. Enjoy!

Those green lights are caused by the solar flare that are going on on the sun. They do have an eleven year cycle. Yes those flares can possibly interrupt communications but I don't think that those flare will make the nights longer. I have read that they can and do affect our weather patterns. The lights you have described are the northern lights or the Aurora Borealis can be seen further south than usual. These flare are going on all the time but this year they are bigger than usual as happens ever few years. I have seen them when I was a teen ager many years ago. I hope to see them again this year. You can check out the sun flare at this web site. You have to scroll down to see them. They are very interesting. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/15/solar-flare_n_823569.html

I went through the link and it was really amazing. You may take it lightly as you have witnessed it earlier and heard a lot about it. For me, It was threatening to the deep core when I thought that the world may end soon. I was very worried about the fact and hence I started it here.

Why are they making such a big hype over this? The pollution in our air causes the sky to change colors. If it was warm enough, and there was a chance of a tornado, of course the sky could turn green. I've seen it before, this is nothing unusual up here. The sky going green is nothing new here, that's why no one makes a big deal out of it.

They say sometimes the sky turns green before a tornado. I don't know if scientists have already found the answer to why that happens. Or maybe that green coloration in the sky was part of an aurora borealis.
