All of us keep in mind the time when we were growing up and our parents used to enlighten us to be cautious on the roads, not to talk to strangers, not to take something from people and not give somebody the use of money to others. By doing all this, they were training us for our life unaccompanied in the outside world, having identified that there are con men who would try to swindle any and every unsuspecting person. It is no dissimilar online; there are lots of people online who are trying to make fast money by cheating people of their hard earned money. If you are starting a new venture, that of working online, and are likely to spend a lot of time on the Internet, you must be aware of the known scams. The scammers also keep innovating and latest scams crop up every day. Though, if you follow the essential rules of Internet and do not get covetous, you can avoid getting cheated. Here are a few of the known scams for information. 1. Dating Scam: In this style, the perpetrator sends a passionate letter saying something like they saw your profile and were very overwhelmed and would like to know you better. When you initiate communicating, the story changes slowly to a shed tears story and then you are asked to help them out by transferring money or help them in some other way, which may even be illegitimate. Just keep in mind; no one falls in love with your profile only. 2. Lottery Scam: Constantly remember that you cannot win a lottery for which you have not purchase a ticket. When you accept an email from anyone stating that you have won a lottery, just disregard it. No one gives away money for at any cost. 3. Money transfer Scam: In this style, you get an email talking about the bad luck that has befallen on the executor and how a large sum of money, an inheritance, which is due to the executor cannot be claimed because of some cause. As a result, the money needs to be transmitted to a representative of the victim in a foreign country. In exchange you will be presented 20-30% of the entire money, which runs into millions. Once you have accepted to be part of the transaction, you will be asked to pay them in some manner under some excuse, like authentication of account, legal charges, etc. 4. Online Survey: There are websites that perform online surveys for their consumers. On the other hand, several of these online survey websites are scams. They will have a minimum payout of let’s say $50-100. They will make use of your services till such time you do not reach the payout number and just when you are close to reaching that number, you stop getting any more surveys. In essence, all the time and effort you put in so far goes devastate and you never get your money. The list of online scams is continuous and new ones are being added every day. In your own awareness and that of your family members, you should follow secure practices on the internet. That is the only positive way of not losing any money to the online scams. Can you please share some of your known online scams and how to avoid it....

Pretty good list. You only missed the work from home scam. I can't recall how many times I tried to reach them and how many fake addresses they had. My daughter only lost $15. Thank goodness! Yes, we experienced it first hand. That's been only about twenty-five years ago. Ya, they've been getting away with it that long!

Nice information. I always get an e-mail from random people about money that was left by someone in their family or winnings of a lottery, so, I delete them and I had to change my e-mail settings to just accept e-mails of people that I know and send the rest to spam and that is where I delete them after they are in my spam box.
