Do you want to grow old

My sister says she does not want to go pass the age of 60. She says she does not want to experience the things that old people go through like poor health and such. How about you guys, do you want to grow old? Do you want to find the fountain of youth? At what age do you want to stop growing old.

I don't wnat to grow old, I don't wnat to look old... I want to be pretty and young forever, I think it is what all the girls want but it is just part of the deal... I am 23 now and I feel like time really flies especially since I have become a mother, time flies even quicker! I feel like I just graduated from high school yesterday My baby will be 1 before I know it...

hello mermaidivy, I too have same thinking. Exactly, time is running faster leaving scare on our body and we are helpless. But who we are to change the universal law of Nature? I too recollect the day when I joined my job as an assistant professor. It is as if just yesterday. Remember everything as to what I did, where I stayed. But now it is already 17 years. Time has been a recurrent theme in the poems of TS Eliot and in the sonnet by William Shakespeare too.

It's nice to remain at the age of 20's. I can't say I'm healthy. I'm 25 and has been sickly since birth. However, we can't stop the cycle of life, or else the world would be congested if all people are immortals. :)

Finding the fountain of youth is a great honor. Yet I wouldn't want to watch all those I love die before me. Having a nice and happy life is enough.

i feel like i am afraid too of being old. what the things that most afraid is your kids are growing old and they leave you cause they had built their own family, and i will be alone, lonely, and have many problems in health. but if i may choose i could still live healthy till my age 65 so i don't have to disturb anybody of my sickness or stuff

Yes, I wanted to grow old and enjoy the company of my husband, children and my grandchildren. Being old is an inevitable process that each of us will have to undergo so I must say that we should expect and just be prepare for it. Of course, anyone maybe will aim to be young forever and do all the things in life without limitations like aching knee and muscles but just like what I said, no one is free from getting old so I'll just aim to age gracefully and wisdom-full. I wanted to stay alive till the good Lord allows me to, but I am praying that hopefully, i'll never had any serious ailments that time same with all my love ones. Good morning!

Good morning. That's a good way to look at it. I fear growing old but answers like this makes me feel like it is not that bad. I think I also fear getting old because I don't want to give up my youth. Being young can excuse some bad decisions and when your older is it almost like you have to know better.

Yes, that is what she said, she wants to die around 60 or 65. It's a bit absurd to me.

If there is really a fountain of youth, I would take it when I am at the age of 50. And I will share the news with everyone else. Life would be boring and sad if you see everyone else around you grow old and die and I still remain the same. But in the normal course of life, with my stressful life I am happy to reach 60 years old. I will spend my last few years traveling the world. And I hope to reach 70 years for me to fulfill my dream. hahaha... That is to cover at least 125 countries before I die.

I also wnt to travel around the world but I think I prefer to do that while I'm young because there is something you can do while your young traveling that can't do when your old. It's just the same as you can do somethings when your old that you can't do when your young. I just hope I will not turn out a cat lady.

In my opinion I don't want to grow to the age where I have to be waited on or can't remember my own daughter or husband's name. I think that's what most adults fear. When you're a teen you don't want to age any higher than 21 because then you're legal to drink and club hop and whatever teens do anymore. But after that and the older you get, most people start saying that they don't want to age to helplessness.

I am never, never, never getting old!!! I refuse to pass 17 on the inside...I always say I'm 39 again again. I just make myself look older so my "old" friends don't feel bad. LOL

Hi Tessa, I can relate to your sister's feelings about this. My whole life I not only said that I did not want to live past age 56 but that I definitly was not going to live beyond that age. Why I chose that particular age, I really don't know. I was just a little kid. Well, now I am going to be 56 in another year and I feel great so I'm thinking maybe I wouldn't mind sticking around for a few more years. As long as I can enjoy my life then I want to live. I don't want to be bed-ridden and depending on others or machines for the basics. I don't want to be a burden to others or myself. I would rather be a ghost than to exist like that.

The aging process is just a part of life we need to get used to. We cant have our youth forever no matter how hard we try to hold on to it. Growing old doesn't have to drag us down. We can have some our best experiences as time goes by. I don't mind growing older as long as i dont waste the journey.

I want to live a long life. If I could do that without growing old, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to have a drink form that fountain of youth you speak of. I'm 26 now and I wouldn't mind being 26 for the next 60 years or such. But if I had to choose between dying at 59 and living to 89, I'd definitely opt for the latter :).

I don't want to grow old too. I feel it's difficult when we reach the age of 65+. The old people have trouble walking, going to places alone, sometimes eating too, it breaks my heart to see someone like that. I wouldn't want to experience such things too. And yes i definitely want to find the fountain of youth. ermm when i reach the age of 35 i guess.

I'm not sure how to answer this question, honestly. I love to live and I'm scared of growing old. Given the way old people live - poor health, poverty (I'm talking about my country, not in general on this matter), unable to look after themselves... I'm not sure I want to reach an age when I'll be a burden to my kids and grandchildren. But on the other hand, I'd like to grow old and spend my life with the people I love, hoping I'll be able to keep on my feet until the end and able to support my children even when they will have children of their own. I just can't give a synonymous answer to this, but the question is great. Thanks for asking.

I will have a lot of savings and will be ready to grow older and older. With a lot of cash in my pocket I think I can enjoy my oldage with my grandchildren.

I want to live until I mentally snap and can't take the world anymore, or I physically snap and just lay there all day. I would like to be as healthy as possible and experience as much of life as possible, but by no means do I want to be immortal. Once I break, I think that is the proper time to die.
