warnings, too. It's crazy! Our temps range from 40 to 20 and back again all the time. So what do you do to combat cabin fever? I snowshoed yesterday and I'll probably snowshow and cut brush today if I can get my spirit to move. I'm thinking about reading a book and writing some more in the ones I've started. I really need to make phone calls and the great thing about snowed in days, everyone is home! Well a few are out snowmobiling and some want to hit you in the head because they're sleeping. Must be a good storm this time. Hubby just said 500 schools in our area are closed. considering our school alone has 3 villages plus an island going there. . ..But other places have smaller schools like one has just one small farming village. So how many times have you been snowed in? Other than shovel snow, what do you do? Once you've repeatedly done that for about the 5th time you've been snowed in, in as many weeks or more times, what would you change it up with? We're going stir crazy! Help!

I have been snowed in and in really for almost a year. I do try to paddle my way through the snow sometimes so that I can be with real people off-line. It gets pretty exhausting when the weather keeps acting up. In fact we got more snow last two days in a row. I try to keep busy with chores around the house but when I get so frustrated I simply want to fudge out and do nothing. I do struggle at times to keep my mind busy because I do hate the feeling of uselessness for me. So I will go online, read books, exercise and or have fun with my boyfriend, lol Oh and I do like to be creative in the kitchen and whip up some new dishes.

Yeah, I invented some banana cookies and then some cranberry orange ones, but by using cranberruy juice and orange extract, my husband couldn't taste any of it.

Aww I'm sorry writer..I know northern Ohio also got hit with the snow and flooding problems. We rarely really get snowed in, but living in the country, it doesn't take much snow to close schools around here. But since my husband works in the city 40 miles away, he still has to work, but he knows how to and enjoys driving in snow..

Oh I forgot, what do I do when I have cabin fever? I don't get it much, I guess because my life is more or less the internet. But if we lost power, I guess a good book would help as well as going out and playing in the snow with my son and puppies..:)

Yeah, I think if you have kids, less likely to have cabin fever. Thanks and take care.

I haven't been really snowed in for awhile, but back when we lived in the country we got snowed in now and then. It doesn't change my schedule when it does, unless I have an appointment or planned to go shopping. I am a homebody, and I keep busy here, so I hardly notice being snowed in. Bake some bread, do some crafts, clean the closets... whatever.

This is the 5th snowed in time in as many weeks, I've done everything except clean the closets 5xs over. I had plans for today that didn't involve being snowed in. I will probably do crafts and go snowshoe again. But I'm out of the thread I need for one craft and broke the knife for the other one. Maybe bread will be the best idea, until I run out of stuff to do that. Thanks and take care. I think it's because I had that week last week with 2 deaths, the mailbox being knocked over, etc.

Well, we were snowed in for a few hours early in Feb... does that count? I know, quit rubbing it in - we've got trees in bloom!

We are getting about the same temps here but won't get the flooding reports for another month or so. As far as the cabin fever goes I do my writing and watch tv. I enjoy ordering my movies on Netflix. And my grandson and my daughter and I spend time together too. I enjoy my time alone and I don't mind it at all. Plus sleep is a wonderful thing for me due to my medical problems.

I think adults with families handle it better. I just have a husband and no kids. He was going cabin fever crazy, too. He did a lot of shoveling.

I do agree. I think it feels good to get some good strenuous exercise.

I've been going a bit crazy too..nowhere near as much as you because I have had a little taste of the weather to come. To battle it I would pick up that hobby and run with it..lol..Mine would be painting...I haven't got to do it in a hundred years. The weather hasn't been bad enough to keep me in more than just a day or two at a time...lol..

I'll have to take up a different one. My knife for carving is broken and I can't afford another one right now. My thread for sewing another turtle is gone. I'm out of most stuff I use for hobbies. I'd collect stuff outdoors, but most stuff is covered with a layer of ice and another layer of snow, so I have to wait until the ice layer is gone. Thanks and take care.

Wow, all your hobby stuff is gone or broke? That is terrible! I hope you are able to stock up some extra stuff, just in case.

Judging from your writing, I'm assuming you live in New York. I have never gotten cabin fever, even in northern Michigan, because there is just so much you can do. It is just so much fun to get your snowshoes on and go shoot a number of rabbits for the next meal, or get out on the lake or river and do a little ice fishing, or get the pickup out and add a tow rope onto the back bumper and go down the old dirt road and make believe that it's almost time to get the boat ready to do a little water skiing as soon as the ice has left the lake. Unfortunately, you will also be reminded that eventually you will have to pack the boat and water skis away for the winter. See how much fun you could have if you just exercise your imagination a little?

I don't think you quite get the concept of snowed in. I don't have a rabbit hunting license and I don't think it's rabbit hunting season. We are many, many miles from a lake and the rivers are ice flows and threatening to flood right now. If I were to go on a river or lake right now, I would die. As in be crushed by ice flows. There are no dirt roads right now, we are snowed in. As in, if you want to go somewhere, you have to follow the snow plow, wait for the next snow plow, and follow that one, etc. I don't own a boat and I don't do water skiing. I would think Northern Michigan and Northern NY would not be that different when we get snowed in. All we can do is shovel snow and showel snow and showel snow. It rained all Saturday night creating an ice slick in the roads and under the snow that it's been doing for 2 days. This is our 5th snowed in and I'm getting really sick of it. Esp. since it's 5xs in as many weeks. The only change has been that I snow shoed this time because the other times were light and fluffy or ice crusted, this is the right snow. Yes, I can daydream and use my imagination, for 2 days, I've been doing that some. Thanks for trying to take my mind off it, but I think we dream in different circles.
