I feel like I'm underpaid!

To set the record straight, this discussion is a little bit of a rant. I sometimes hate my permanent job because I am an engineer, doing engineering work, design in particular but then I feel that we are underpaid. I mean, we're Engineers after all and we do a lot of work and even render over time work just to finish a certain project. We are all hardworking and we don't have much benefits as employees as well. I feel and know that I am underpaid but then sometimes I feel that I'm lucky since I have a stable job, unlike others. The feeling differs on particular days. Anyway, that's just it. Any thoughts, anyone?

I have been in that situation. I ended up quitting the job, when I needed some medical leave, and would be gone an extended time. I have not had steady work since then. Sometimes what is necessary is more than a big paycheck. Some times what is necessary is that you be appreciated for what you do. I hope that sometime you get the money and benefits and appreciation that you deserve.

I know right. I really hope that the company could do something about it. I am actually thinking of making a proposal for some benefits that could be given to us employees. But the thing is every time I want to start to make the proposal, I end up thinking negatively about it.

What is the worst that can happen if you do make some suggestions to the company? Would they be annoyed and do something to you? Would it go badly on your work record, or would they think you were a valuable employee who was working to make the job better?

Truly unfair and employers know this and at times do not appreciate the loyalty you instill to the company. I have been in this type of situation before and often wonder why the shorting, but as long as you, I or someone accepts they will not change this habit.
I do hope some day you do get either your proper pay rate and or obtain a higher paying job. Best of luck to you.

You are so right about it. Hopefully the company will see right through us and appreciate our dedication. I pray that the situation will soon change. You see, I am beginning to choose not to render over time work just to be at home and start earning online just to help me out.
