Earth Quakes starting to get my Attention! (Now in Japan!)

QUAKES again! - a lot has happened in the few days
Philippines

Hello Lotters, Though, am a bit busy with recent activities, i couldn't ignore what nature has truly taking it course as in terms of moving LAND MASSES (Earth Quakes) that's really affecting the lives of a lot of people. We all remember what happened to Haiti, which was terrible and still recovering. then, another event happened in New Zealand, which killed Filipinos and other people there, so as other parts of Asia. some happened in my country, which is like 7.1 magnitude in some parts of LUZON. But what has caught my attention was this 8.9 magnitude that strike Japan, with adding Gigantic Tsunami that's hitting the Rice Fields and Farms. I think Tsunamis happen when earth quakes happen. Oh, Don't be all too religious here folks about the end of the World Crap. Everything that's happening is ALL nature. we are just only ones affected since were affected and aware by it. Let's all Pray for the safety of those who got affected by this terrible disaster.

there is so many things that happen in this world which force me to pay attention. not only earthquakes, flood and also the climate change. that is the nature that we can stop and prevent, but it is too bad when it goes to war like in Libya which actually we can avoid and prevent

Hello Ifa225, Well, this is huge and it really got my attention because the flood swept across the lands and farms which killed a lot of people. but it also got my attention in a positive way because none of my people got seriously injured, unless there are future update that they did got hurt. It's part of life and has been happening long before we exist.

I saw it on BBC and very sad with the whole situation for the people. It is dangerously out of control. I will put them all in my prayers because what lies ahead will be difficult for many to move forward in the aftermath.

Hello Hardworkinggurl, This is something that we only see on Movies, hard to believed that this is all true. but i think with today's recent technology and it's japan, i think they're going to pull through. i can't say otherwise to my country if this happens in such a high magnitude

"Don't be all too religious here folks about the end of the World Crap. Let's all Pray for the safety of those who got affected by this terrible disaster." That's kind of contradicting isn't it? Okay, I wasn't going say anything about the end of the world, because that is not where we are to look for His coming anyways, but I will pray because though I haven't been in an earthquake or tsunami, they sound very scary. I think someone said something about Hawaii too, do you know anything about that? I don't know if Hawaii also had an earthquake or the tsunami is also headed their way. So not only Japan, I think Hawaii is also in trouble and needs prayer..

Oh of course and I am praying Letran, I can't imagine going through something like this. I mean I grew up and live in an area where tornadoes are common, yet every place I have lived, I have never seem a twister. I have seen very strong winds I thought become a tornado, but thankfully it wasn't, yet the fear I felt when there was a chance of being in a tornado is an awful feeling..:(

Hello thesids, I don't think the Japanese Deserve such Earth Quake but their land is obviously prone to those and it's really hard to bear watching the worse flood that i have seen.it's like that movie "the sinking of japan" this is just horrible. i just hope my country doesn't experience this much.

I think none of us on the planet deserve to face such a fury from the mother nature but as you say, some areas are quite prone and thus these effects... In my opinion it was better that this happened at Japan where people have learned to face the earthquakes. On some of the videos that I watched on BBC, I could see that the roof tops that fell were light weight and not made more of concrete. In most of Asia, we are still ages away to have the modular houses that can handle the catastrophe and am even scared to think what would have happened if ever an earthquake of such magnitude hit us... millions would die under the mortar forget the tsunami that happened as the after effect

I am really disturbed about the series of disasters that are happening around now in the different parts of the world. Especially now that they have an alert for the PH too. I hope that everyone will be spared.
• Philippines
12 Mar 11
Hello Staria, I think the alert has lowered down because the wave isn't as powerful that got hit first in Japan. surely, they will recover, and i hope you're relative is doing fine as of this moment, despite of the low food supply and lack of electricity

Good thing it doesnt hit Batanes and the rest of the provinces that much. Yup, was able to speak w/ my aunt and she's okay. She stays far from the badly hit area of Japan but aftershocks are still pertinent and she's of course afraid. Prayers are needed.

I guess Hawaii escaped and California will merely have a slightly big wave--we were lucky. I can't imagine the horror and sorrow that the people of Japan are going through and my heart goes out to them. Haiti is still recovering because billions in aid have been stolen instead of benefiting the people. When countries give financial aid they should also give someone to distribute that aid and be sure that it goes to those that need it, not into the pockets of corrupt public officials.

Hello Dragon45u, Japan happened to have been experiencing Earth Quakes for a very long time. Yeah, things are a lot more chaotic now in haiti and also because of hundreds of criminals actually got busted out of that place when the earth quake hits there. there's been a lot trouble there, but for japan that has millions of disciplined people, i think they're going to be fine.

It's really a great disaster for us if we encounter like what happen to countries you have mention above. Now, its time to think that this is the sign we are living in a world that big changes occur. I am shocked knowing the bad news when I enter our cafeteria to have my lunch break. Many religious materials says that that we are now living in the time predicted in the Bible. Uhmmmm! Maybe they are correct but it's too early to conclude. Although I believe for their opinions but also we are now bearing the fruits of what people plant. We are to be blame of all this things because we are destroying our mother nature.

Hello Julyteen, YEAH, RIGHT! The end of the WORLD CRAP!The world never ends, despite of it's extreme climatic conditions in the past. it's only those who are living in it that suffers. as for us, it's up to our will with the technology involve in order to survive. if 2012 scenario happens, yes many will die but humanity must learn to move on and survive for us to exist.

hi ketran oh I have been besieged today by friends all gloom and doom saying its the end of time blah blah. lord nature has been doing this since I was born and I am 85 next Nov. so its nothing new or anything but nature, I have sent all my prayers for the safety of the people living in the disaster areas that they will be safe and well.

Hello Hatley, Yeah, that's what happen when people tends to use being religious in a negative way. they should use it as a positive way to pray and hoped people can move on and survive their ordeal. i think Japan would have more losses if they didn't have buildings capable of handling Earth Quake, the Technology has keep them from dyinh.

in these times of unexpected events, all we can do is pray and ask for help from above. and that's right, we should not be so religious about this, this is all nature's way. be safe...

It looked really scary when I saw it on the local news. Seeing all the huge waves crash into the shoreline and then eventually going into the city. It was scary seeing all the debris in the huge waves. I think I saw some burning wreckage too in the wave as it stormed by. It really is dangerous living around the Ring of Fire because of the huge chance of an earthquake and possible tsunamis.

Hello Nijolechu, Yeah,my country lives through that Thing "ring of fire". but despite of these, it's all just nature and it's been going on for so many many years. we just have to be careful and be ready with all of these troubles, because there isn't a technology that can be avoided.

I think all this is because of our own doing, we don't take care of the environment and now nature is biting back. And then there is a solar storm coming.
• Philippines
12 Mar 11
Hello SinRealm, I think my belief here is that the atmosphere and rising of water due to ice melt is our doing because of the plants that produces chemicals that weakens our Electro Magnetic field and decreases Ozone Layer protection . I hate the solar storm, look at mars, it's been like that for billions of years because of that freaking solar storm.
@SinRealm (558)
• Philippines
12 Mar 11
Yeah, that too. Well, lets all just hope the solar storm doesn't get that bad. It would happen but hopefully it won't cause as much damage. But with the big hole in the ozone layer. We need a miracle. :(

Tsunami happens when the sea floor drops or rises, due to movement of tectonic plates (the lands that support oceans, continents, islands). This dropping or rising sea floor lifts sea water, which then can only go sideways, creating giant walls of water going all directions, of which speed can reach up 450 km/hour). The alert system is buoys which are placed in some oceans in the world. A website where we can check for ocean floor drop or rise (buoy alert): National Data Buoy Center: ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php. The sea floor, as well as the lands, have been very actively moved for the past few years. In fact, yesterday (March, 11), 28 buoys were active: http://bit.ly/eO8b1c.
