I grew up reading Jonah Hex comics. I remember when he was just an add-on to the other comics, then graduated to his own comic. When I saw the DVD for rent at the local kiosk, I pounced on it. Just seeing the title took me back to when I was a kid so I had to see how well they had done at bringing Jonah to life. I have to say that they did a pretty decent job with the character of Jonah Hex. Josh Brolin was an excellent choice for the role and John Malkovich was good as the evil Turnbull. The only problem I had with the entire film, in fact, was Megan Fox, who cannot act to save her life. I mean, the woman's face never twitched! It was like she had botoxed her entire face just hours before going on camera! And those lips! They never once left the perpetual pout position! I could have cast the Lilah character much better than whoever was casting for this film did. Now, the plot was pretty decent, although rather reminiscent of the first X-Men movie, complete with the grandiose assault on Washington, D.C. They did a good job with Jonah's talking with the dead and there were some lovely moments of dry wit when Jonah dug his best friend up out of his grave to have a chat. All in all, the movie was worth the watch, although I would not suggest buying it. It's not something I would want to see more than maybe two or three times. Maybe.
