Go Sheriff Joe!

Most of us here in the USA have heard about the Pei Wei identity theft raid. Now here's a clip and article about the raid. http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/business/pei-wei-job-fairs-3-7-2011 I wanted to perhaps start a discussion on an idea I've seen thrown out there... If raids like this continue and identity theft aka illegals are removed from jobs would this help our economy? With so many out of work would removing those who legally have no right to work here help stimulate the eocomy? I think people would take what they could find for opportunities to work. Unemployment benefits have run out for many, so those people to my understanding don't count tward the official unemployment numbers. But if you watch the video there's a well educated woman prepared to take a minimum wage job to feed her family because there are limited opportunities for everyone no matter their education or work experience. And do you also disagree with the assumption that the illegals do the jobs Americans don't want to do? There are people willing to wait hours to get interviewed for a minimum wage job. That should say something to people who have put this assumption out there. I don't think this is the reality at all. I think the reality is that they pay the illegals a lower wage and no benefits and some businesses are willing to risk that to make their bottom line black instead of red. Clearly people want to work, it's finding the opportunity to prove that.

I think it would be good for them to get rid of the illegals in order to provide Americans jobs. I looked for jobs for a couple of years and although I was able to get a job for about two months with the census last year, the only way I was able to finally get a job was to go to China to teach English. I would fill out the applications at various places at the malls and fast food joints and no one wanted a 50 year old worker for some reason. Some of them gave personality tests and that was the last I heard from them. Life has been hard for everyone these days. If a few of the unemployed Americans can get a job, then that would be great. I would have trouble dealing with jobs that required speed and I think that those are the kinds of jobs that most of the illegals go for, but I may be wrong on that.

"Illegals will do jobs Americans won't do" is a myth spread by big businesses like construction so that it will soften the blow (for awhile) of the millions of illegals streaming over our borders. They can pay them less, as you said, and no benefits. Latinos are practically the new "slave" class. Sheriff Joe can't help until we the people demand the the government fulfill their responsibilities to protect our borders. Until then, they'll keep slapping him with constraints, lawsuits and annoyance penalties for doing the job he was elected to do.

We have demanded the government fulfill their responsibilities. What was the response? Remember Arizona? We need to be louder and more consistent.

Several months ago there was a plant that made backpacks that was raided and most of the employees were illegals. With in day the plant was up and running with Americans working for the going wage. The other thing we should do is boycott all cities and states that give sanctuary to illegals. Until then we have to depend on law enforcement people like Sheriff Joe.

i think they've never actually ASKED an american if they wanted the jobs or not. i know plenty of people who used to rely on one main job,and 2 or three side jobs-that just aren't there anymore. i'm sorry as hell their country doesn't have jobs, but residents of an area should have first priority-over both illegals and legal residents from other states. i've run into people from NY working here.come on..not one job in NY? why on earth would you want to commute 5 hours per day?

I think that there are many people who would still not take a bottom dollar job just because of their pride, but that there are still very many people who will take the low wage job so that they can help or support their families. It's sad that this had to happen, but it's also a good thing too. Those who are legal do need jobs and while I understand why illegals come to our country, I feel like they should be prepared to not find work or lose work because I believe we as legal US citizens should come first. That may sound selfish but I believe it.

I certainly understand that the intent for illegal resident moving to the US is to better their lives. Okay but if allow all and anyone where does that leave the American Citizens. I went to do a computer networking job in a Salvation Army and was so amaxed at what I saw, (this will be a discussion soon, lol) But 90% of the employees where illegal employees, all the while I mined my own business but could not believe how hard they are working and under the min wage. I suppose this is the idea with the owners it to get hard desperate people to do low under paid work and as long as it continues it will not stop. The law must intervene and draw the line somewhere.

Removing aliens will absolutely help our economy. Not only will it open jobs for US citizens, it will shrink the welfare rolls and the other freebies available to them. I don't wish anyone ill and if a child is sick, I'm glad we can help, but these people don't pay their share. People will work at minimum wage if the jobs are available. When unemployment runs out, what else would you do? Big business and those who are bleeding hearts for people who have illegally entered our nation have perpetuated the myth that we are somehow too good to work at low paying jobs. Ask the citizens who work at McDonald's and Walmart.

3snugglebunnies my son would jump on any opening to have a full time job as would his friend Michael who got laid off six months ago in film editing there in Hollywood. Michael does have several prospects now but so far all have been duds.,my poor son works 2 days a week at a parttime job is better than zero job. but hes not getting any where and hes too young for social security or any other perks. too. 51 is a bad age to be unemployed even for a computer programmer. he worked one week for 500 dollars being a computer analyst but that was only for one week. He needs a full time job. this crap has been going on for over two years and its why I had no home and am here in Gold Crest. So yes send the illegals home and put our sons and daughters back to work. a lot of Americans are really hurting.
