I think we can't, if there's no country who has the nuclear weapon, there will be no super power country like the united states, but i hopes we could, no nuclear in this world can help ourselves

Wouldn't that be wonderful if we were all equal and there was no superpower in terms of weapons? I would love that. We have a long way to go, though, before people have the sanity to give up their weapons and settle things peacefully.

Hi Tushavi How are you dear? I believe that in the coming days we would have to rely more on the nuclear power plants as they are great sources of energy and would be able to provide electricity etc at much cheaper prices. As there are always two sides of a coin, the nuclear power is mostly thought to associated with only Nuclear Weapons. These weapons are supposed to be quite destructive and we are quite lucky that they have not been used in any recent wars. But they are potential threats and I would recommend the non-use of such nuclear power for them.

You are right. We shall not even create the nuclear weapons because it is deadly for all human beings. However, it is easy to say than done. Try to imagine which country will announce to give up their nuclear weapons at first? None. The governors said that they wouldn't use the nuclear weapons, but just protect themselves in case they are attacked. I love China

I wish, too. But I guess the new world needs it more to get the electricity which much needed these days.

We need nuclear power plant...but not nuclear weapons. Nuclear power plant can eliminate the power scarcity and thus increase the revenue to the government and also increases the standard of living.... Nuclear weapon can almost wipeout an entire nation within a short span......

There is nuclear energy in everything (that's what "E=mc^2" means). Nuclear Power plants just mine that energy out of materials. The mining-waste is toxic, and the earthquakes exposed the storehouse of toxic-waste. They'll put it back; no big

Nuclear Plants are the best alternative for Generating Electricity, instead of using Crude or Gas. Aside from that it is cheaper and easy to produce. However the danger given by this newest technology will result humanity wipe out. In our country, the government built a nuclear plant to produce electricity but when about to start the operation, the local people protest about the operation and the government force to stop. The people knew what will be the result if the nuclear plant start to malfunctions. It can cause a mass killings of human and animals. Due to our latest technology, as long as the people will not stop using nuclear plant, we cannot clean our world from it.

Tushavi, dear, thanks you for your discussion, I can feel how much you are aware of a Nuclear disaster, I´m too. I just can tell you that my faith goes farther, in the Bible goes states: you should not fear to those that can take your life, you should fear to those that can condem your soul to the hell. I know that if we should die suddenly and my soul is in peace with God, God will give my a room on his house. But if we die, and our soul is condemed our soul will burnt in hell, for ever. Blessings!... Dainy

Dear Tushavi, You are right in saying that the world should be cleaned of nuclear weapons but no one will do that. Just because no one trusts each others. And moreover its not just the weapons that creates the problem. In Japan its nuclear power reactor which they used for civilian purpose that is for electricity generation. Even then the tragedies like Three mile Island and Chernobyl has caused great damages to environment and human race too. Development always has a price and humans have long since kept on paying it..hope we don't have to pay it in the form of extinction.

Nuclear power and nuclear weapons are very harmful to mankind as the earthquake in Japan has demonstrated. It is a dangerous invention for mankind. An accident can be very devastating. But do we have common sense? It doesn't look like it!

hi tushavi, if i remember correctly, we almost had a nuclear power plant too in our country during the reign of the marcos regime. but people were not ready for it hence there was mass demonstration and it ended up like a ghost building as of today. nothing done because the people didnt approve. again if i remember it right, it was due to the place which is bataan, and it has a fault line there. so earthquake is so inevitable. after seeing japan, i am very sure that all the objections of the filipino people were proper. and it was for the good of everyone. it is best to tap resources that are natural in origin like the hydro, and geothermal. have a nice day. ann

A good idea in theory, but it is not going to happen because that would require every country to trust that everyone else is going to get rid of their nuclear weapons. Which is highly unlikely to happen. To be honest, people in their own country are sometimes dubious when their government does tell them something. So around the world, in other countries, they are certainly not going to believe that they are telling the truth. There is always going to be a paranoid nature where if someone is believed to have nuclear weapons, than other country will develop them as what they believe is a protective measure. Therefore nuclear weapons might be rid "on the record" but behind the curtain, it is impossible to maintain this, as there will always be something that goes on behind the scenes. All of the countries in the world would also have to come to an agreement and I find it hard to believe that government leaders would agree on where to go to lunch, never mind something like this.

Yes dear Nuclear Weapons can be wiped out from the planet but it requires high level of consensus between the nations of the world who possess the Nuclear weapon and are running for the power, power and power. It might be known to you that only after 20 days of invention of Nuclear Technology, which was invented for the betterment of mankind, it was used for the detriment of mankind. As for as safety and security of Nuclear Weapons are concerned every nation who possesses this technology they adopt all measures to secure them but when it comes to Natural disasters whatever technology is adopted it can not coup with Nature. As you have said in your discussion and no doubt Japan is World's most advanced country in Science and Technology but now they have lost all their technologically rich measures to secure their nuclear plants..... So when it comes in the case of Pakistan, she is very vulnerable for these situations......God Save her and her people from any kind of unimaginable catastrophes......

I hear so many stories that are different. One scientist says that a meltdown only means the rods are not cooled and will burn at 3,000° C but the shielding is made for 5,000° C. Others say that it's a real danger to humans. I wish someone would state the truth and give us the proper facts. Nuclear energy is the cleanest we have, apparently, but if something goes wrong it goes very, very wrong. I wish the world was not so energy hungry and energy greedy. We demand more and more energy to power our gadgets, our convenience items and our entertainment. Go to any sports event and you will see huge televisions sucking up power so that people don't have to look closely at the game but can use the TV as they chat and party. There are many energy-suckers that we don't need but we are greedy and lazy.

Hopefully the nuclear weapons will never be used. They seem like more of a threat than anything. Countries are afraid to go to war against countries that have them. We (the US) even started a war because a country was supposed to have the materials to make them. Our soldiers searched and searched and never found anything. It seems the President and some of the people in government were lying to us to get support for the war. I don't think any country will get rid of them first,I think all countries will have to get rid of them at once and that's not going to happen but it would be nice if it did.
