‘International Men’s Day’?

India
March 15, 2011 9:48am CST
International Women’s Day’ was recently celebrated all over the world.Celebration of such a day was started to encourage women who were so long lagging behind men in all respects of life. Days have now changed. Women are now flourishing in all fields of life and in some spheres they are even more successful than men. Do you think a day may come in the near future when ‘International Men’s Day’ will have to be celebrated to encourage men?

Ha, I suppose maybe where-ever you live women are doing better than men. But certainly not around here. My boyfriend and I are both in college. He to get his Associates and I to get my bachelors. The thing of it is, even though I will have a higher degree than he, and I get better grades than he... he will most certainly make more money than I after we because he is a man. And in all likely hood we will probably end up competing for some of the same jobs even though he has gone to school for the more practical side of the medical field and I have gone more for the paper side of the medical field. I don't think there should be a men's day or a women's day. If we are all freaking equal, then let us just be equal! We don't need days to set us apart when we are needing to be the same.

Which country do you belong to? It means that there is still now gender disparity in your country where males are always preferred to females.

If females are given the opportunities, why should they lag behind the males?

There already is an International Men's Day.Its November 19th, and It started up back in 1999, and it's celebrated in loads of places around the world, mostly in first world countries. It was promoted by groups through the UN in the direction of a balance of genders.

I don't think so. Men are honoured every day, every where, every time. So, they don't need a private day. Women is different. So, we have a Women's day to honour them.

Why do you think so that women are different? If women claim that men are different and so we need a men's day to honour them, whould you object?

I don't think the day will come ,because women' role always under the man,Internation women's day is to celebrate the liberation of women, and in many place ,men still rule women.

I agree with you that the day may never come but it is true that days have changed and females are no longer under the full control of males.

No. Because even though there are more women than men in this world, and soon women will rule the world , No one will think there is a need for a Men's day.

I see alot of men being celebrated and very few women. Yes, they just got a Women's Day but look how long it took them. Look at all the men's birthdays we celebrate. And Martin Luther King Day and alot of others. There are one or two womens celebrated but not many. So, I think men have it going on in a lot of ways. Lwts give women some of that.

Yes there should be! There are so many men who need attitude adjustments! Like to be better dads,to being better husbands! To be better providers to, be better lovers! To be better at listening to their spousesgirlfriends and to be better at comumicating! I see to much of the bad side of men! So many need work and maybe n "Inernational Mens' day' would be a good thing!

For the sake of gender equality and equity, why not. we need to be fair and make both man and woman important. We need each other and absence of another will surely cripple the world and would make the other to not function properly.

Yes,there should have been an "International Men's Day" for the men all over the world to celebrate,or there are always so many men standing aside envying their women's dancing, playing games and even going outside for a trip, then they have to work instead of them!

Well to be honest i consider this to be unfair. There is a lot of talk about equalty between the genders, yet there is only international womens day. Man is still expected to hunt the woman and be the one who makes the first step. Man is expected to be the strong and protective. Excuse me... Where is the equalty?

Actually why not? There are men who deserve it. But to be honest, there is something else we should think about. Why do women and men need a special day at all? Each person is unique and must be cherished, loved and appreciated every single day of their life. Having a special day would only remind us that in the remaining days of the year we ignore people who celebrate? Anyway, as long as women have their special day, it would be fair men to have one, too.
