Gas prices in USA vs. Canada

Canada

I just went to Ketucky and I was astounded by the price of gas there and in the rest of the USA in general; compared to Canada it's almost cheap (well, maybe not "cheap" but moreso than Canada). It was, depending on the place, $3.50 a gallon! If we took the price of gas here (approximately $1.22 a LITRE) and times it by four (approximate multiplication needed to make a gallon) it'd be $5.00/gallon! I understand the price of gas is going up and gas venders need to raise the prices to keep up but that's nuts! I can barely afford to drive so I'm not having a job away from home! Is anyone else shocked and horrified by the gas prices in Canada vs. USA?

The gas prices here are $3.77 In some places it is higher and the diesel is way higher than just the regular. In coneticut the price is $4.50 a gallon, This is just all ridiculous prices everywhere going up not only on gas but everyday things we need!! Do they think we are all rich or what? I f the gas goes to $5.00 a gallon I will look for work at home for sure I don't want to support the idiots that raised the cost of fuel!!!! This is terrible for all of us but what can we do?

I do not drive, but when I go with my friends and see the gas prices at the stations going up even though it is not summer I am shocked. I remember when it was below a $1 a litre here in Winnipeg, and then the next day it shot up. I have a friend of mine who lives about a kilo away and she says that if I want a ride to church when it is slippery to ask her, but I do not like to ask her. The thing is that we have oil wells (well in the next two provinces over) so we could pay less and we do have colder winters so we do haves to use the gas and oil for heating. Most of it is energy costs and government fees. The gas prices are too high and in the States, they want to follow suit and they plugged up most of their oil wells so that they could. Do not worry it will be $5 a gallon down there if Obama has his way.

I know the prices are higher in Canada as well as the UK and Europe, but we in the US are used to cheaper gas and the recent rise in prices here is hurting people because we haven't budgeted for it. I think the real problem with gas prices (and maybe it's just in the US) is that the prices are so unstable. It goes up; it goes down; it goes up; it goes down, but every time it goes down, it's a little less than the last time and every time it goes up, it's a little more than the last time. We will catch up with you, unfortunately.

I almost wish I didn't live in Canada. It's crazy the way the prices keep soaring, and I can't really afford to drive either, but my job requires me to drive from job site to job site. I have no choice.

I think a lot of things tend to be more expensive in Canada than in the US. Yes Americans complain about the high gas prices but we forget that even though the prices are high we pay less than a lot of countries.
