Number of e-readers is increasing day by day. Do you think that e-books are going to replace traditional books totally or to a large extent in the coming future?

I don't know if they will completely get rid of traditional books but I think there probably would be less traditional books as e-readers become more popular and more affordable. I haven't really looked into it but I think it's probably cheaper to buy a book for your e-reader then to buy the traditional book. I think that writers will not want to make less money for their hard work in writing the book.

I agree with you totally and believe that as number of e-readers is increasing gradually, e-books will no doubt become more popular but they will never be able to replace traditional books completely.

I am both an e-reader and a 'traditional' book reader. I only read ebooks when I couldnt find their paperback counterpart. With your question I would have to say that more people might become e-readers but it's never going to completely affect their attitude towards paperbacks and hard bound books. They can be both like me, but they wont do away with the 'traditional' books.

Some people have got an e book reader and this seems convenient for travelers having 100 books on something not much bigger than a match box. Real books are heavy to carry and there has to be a limit of how many can be carried in a bag or backpack. A CD player did overtake record players. Laptops are now popular and very convenient and net books were created. I think that traditional books will remain in the future. It is lovely to have a book case and on it books to be held. Books that have many photos and pictures are better in the traditional way. An e book reader can only give words. So traditional books will be popular with children. Some adults will have an e book reader but also have traditional books on a bookcase I think.

Both have their disadvantages and advantages. I like paper more than e-books because of readily availability.

I don't think so. Reading book is always a fund and it's a fond of some people. I'm too. I like to read a book more than an e-book. I only use e-book when I need some technology documents.

E-reader are increasing because technology is becoming more a part of our lives. Traditional books are still popular as some people prefer them, I do not have a problem with e-books. I like them, for instance, would you rather carry around a large book that you're reading or the same book on your, lets say iPad or iPhone. I think it's easier to have an e-book with you than a traditional book. Electronics are the future.

Unless I win the lottery or someone hands me one with unlimited e-books at my disposal I really doubt that I'd ever get a Kindle since they're too expensive. I think more people will turn to them but unlike a regular book you can break the thing so I think books are here to stay. People might go crazy over them for a while but if any readers out there are like me odds are they'll end up breaking the thing and just go back to reading regular books. So far I've never had a book break on me which wouldn't be the case with a Kindle.

Yes, I do. Quicker and faster to move around and alot of other reasons. Traditional books will always hold a place in my heart but they are becoming archaic. Being a writer it is sort of scarey to see traditional books go to ebooks. It is a big change for gal coming from the 50's.

I am not sure if e-books will ever totally replace traditional books. E-books are bad on the eyes, however, television and computer screens have improved a lot and I expect further advancement. I personally do like hard copies, but it would definitely be good if we could stop using so many trees for everything. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. :)

I don't think so. Because most of the people right now prefer to used the internet to see what they wanted to know... Buying books is not an option now but buying computer and connected to the internet...

In my opinion, traditional books can never be replaced. Because given a choice, people would still like to read from Hardbound or Softbound Hardcopies called books rather than e-books.

I have a lot of e-books in my ipod and they are mostly e-books of classic authors like "Treasure Island" and other stuffs. Even though I have those in my Ipod I don't usually read them because I'm really not that comfortable reading in it. I have computer and of course the same I'm not that comfortable also. I still prefer the good old traditional books. Reading them is really comforting and nothing compares to the satisfaction of reading them. That is so far my opinion on this. I'm a techy guy but I still prefer those good old books. By what I have stated above I can say its still too far away that e-books will be replacing our traditional books. Not everyone reads books on the go or its just that I haven't met people that do so. Anyway as long as there are people holding and reading books e-books stands no chance in replacing traditional books, in my humble opinion.

Hi dear, I think both has its own improtacne and spciefications. As we know, traditional printed books are still in great demand even after e-publications are now more in the market. If consider the level of demand of printed books, I hope it will take more time to replace the system. Even I had a doubt earlier that the pdf or e-books would replace our conventional trend of printing books. But the current demand is still fade the hope. Also, there are a lot of people live depending on the book printing and associated or related ares of work. So, it is hard to believe that the system will replace the other. Both will be in demand and the e-books has its own demand because of the convenience, low cost, ready usage and so many aspects. Regards, Thank-s

Dear DoctorDidi, at least I don't think that traditional books can ever be replaced by e-books completely! I really don't like reading books online, I prefer a good old-fashioned book made of paper which I can take with me anywhere to read or even cuddle up in a corner or bed with it. Also, the fresh smell of glue and paper of brand new books, the musty dusty smell of old books etc. is simply unbeatable, you can never have this epxerience with an e-book! Many memories of mine are tied to these kind of smells, I am sure you too would have some of your own. Another thing that I love about books is some people have a habit of making notes in the margins of books, some random thoughts of their own with reference to the written content of the book, it is quite an experience reading them, sometimes is just to enjoyable. If books were to be gone, we would never have these kinds of experiences.

I hope books don't go all to e-books! I am a reader but I rather read a real book instead of an e-book! I know people who have the Kindle and I don't want one! They are expensive and some of the books you have to buy to read! Forget it! I rather go to a store and buy a book when I am ready for one!

I am one who knows to have the feel of an actual book, kind of hard to curl up with a laptop..lol Same as for newspaper, although convenient for some, I feel that many will still want the old traditional feel of holding the book and or newspapers.

I seriously doubt that they could replace books for awhile. Ereaders are expensive and poor people can always go to a library or used books. If you read electronic books, your eyes will begin to hurt eventually as well. Nope

With all these new technologies coming out I think that traditional books will be replaced by e-books someday.
