My colleague, I should call her my ex-colleague. When she was still in our company, she doesn't have much work to do. Everyday, her actual working hour I can say is only about 1 or 2 hours and after that she will have almost nothing else to do. Although she does not really have much thing to do and never take the initiative to find something else to do, her boss still treated her quite well and never give her any pressure at all. But she started to feel bored and keep complaining about her job after about a year and she started to look for job. Now she have got a new job that is near to her home, and with slightly higher pay than what she got previously. But there, the work load is so much when compare to her previous job and she have got a result oriented boss who will keep asking for the result. Now she feel really tension because of her new boss and the work load. What will you do if you are in her shoes, will you change your job because of you wanted to get a slightly higher pay, but with more work and more tension? What will you do and what is your opinion?

A job that does not challenge you is the worst. It can never be a long lasting profession. The majority of people would like to feel good about the work that they do. But it is hard to do so when you, yourself doesn't feel any challenge at all. How do you take pride in something when you feel anybody could do it. Like another had said, if I were qualified, I would jump on the opportunity to make more pay if it was more challenging. However, if it was more pay and less challenging, granted my current job was not challenging at all, I would probably not want to do it. Like your colleague, It probably wouldn't take too long to get really bored of the job and start looking for another.

I suppose it depends where you are in life and what kind of person you are. If you are just starting out and new to the profession, taking on a more challenging job than the previous would greatly enhance their future potential. It will give them a chance to get more job experience as well as a chance to learn new things. With more job experience ,more knowledge and a background of being ambitious and a hardworker will help you greatly in the future. But for someone who has been doing that for their whole life and is getting close to retirement, they may opt for a less stressful job.

You are quite right, when the job is not challenging any more for a person, he/she will probably feel bored and will started to look for another job. But if there are opportunity for them to change their job with a slightly increment in their salary and be tension everyday, will they still go to the new job? It is not worth it to get a slightly increment in salary but with a lot of tension in the new job.

I'll take the new job with more pay provided i feel i am capable of doing an efficient job.The reason being a person paying more will demand one to work hard and achieve a high level of proficiency on the job.If i feel i am incapable of meeting the requirements set by my new boss i'll never opt to change my job from that which is providing me stability and a good work environment. Its worth doing self analysis for a while as to whether we can perform adequately in the new environment because we can't revert back to our old job if we aren't satisfied with the new one.

I will to take the new job if the pay is a lot higher than the current job. But if the increment not much, I will prefer to stay rather than to get a job that pay slightly higher and get headache everyday.

What comes around, goes around! She may be laid back in the previous office but this time her new boss is strict towards her. She should remain in the job and adjust her attitude. No one will hire a staff who is lazy. Good Luck!

I think this is time for her to learn to be hard working. And is time for her to learn to get paid is not just sitting down without doing anything.

If i were her and i was really bored with my job, then I would grab the opportunity to be challenged with a higher paying job. I would want to know my limits and abilities. If i can handle the tension that the job is asking for. The good pay would be my reward. If i am not able to face the tension, then I know I have gotten to learn more of myself.

If the pay is very much higher than the current job, I also will not mind to challenge the new job, but what if the pay for the new job is only about 10% higher than you current job, will you still want to change your job? Will you want to face the tension in your new job with that slightly increment in your salary?
