How long have you been enjoying your life/relationships?

Our 11th Wedding Anniversary, was none other than bitter sweet, if you ask me. We had sitters for the kids from Friday evening @ 5pm, until Sunday @ 2pm. On Friday evening, my wife was taken off to a mini spa evening, where she received a foot bath detox, and then a 30 min. massage, by our superb massage Therapist, Ursula Edwards, NMT of Massage Therapeutics, Inc... So while she was out and about, I prepared our first candlelight dinner. I chilled our 1st wedding gift of crystal flutes in our deep freezer. I seasoned the chicken tenderloins with garlic butter, and garlic salt. I prepared some steamed "Gluten-free pasta, and mixed vegetables." My wife enjoyed the attention to detail. When she arrived home, we ate. Then I gave her a personal foot bath, and painted her toe tails with a sparklie pearl clear diamond color. On Saturday, we left for our home to stay at a hotel overnight. We didn't rent a car. We ordered Chinese, had it delivered to our room. We ordered "Unstoppable" from the Hotel's Pay-Per-View-Movie Channel. We talked/snuggled and really just enjoyed each others company. I think I have a new ice cream flavor. Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey, it's a banana flavored ice-cream with Fudge chunks and walnuts in it. It was GREAT, even though I was NOT too excited that they didn't have Neapolitan which is my usual. On Sunday, we ate breakfast, left the hotel, came home, unwound a bit. I let my wife have some alone time to herself. I went to the store, picked up some REDBOX movies for the kids, "Toy Story 3" and "The Last Airbender." Ordered dinner in from Pizza Hut (won't be ordering from them ever again). The kids were dropped off @ 2:15pm and were happy to see us, as much as we were to see them. We only spent $$ on the extra's like the ice-cream, the food, and movies. What's your verdict? Did we do it right? Thanks for reading and commenting.

I think you paid a lot of attention to your family, and showed them a lot of appreciation. I trust you were appreciated as well. I am not sure why you say it was bittersweet. I have been a mom for thirty four years, widowed once and married this time for thirteen years. We spend time together every day. Sorry about Pizza Hut. I guess I am not ever really happy with food that is delivered or brought home. I either like to eat at home, or at the restaurant. It is good that your children know that they are an important part of your family as well as the adults.

I think that is a good lesson for the kids to learn that a family is everyone living and loving together. What a nice surprise day for all.

Happy Anniversary. Sounds like you had a nice time. I'm not a huge ice cream eater but I love Chunky Monkey myself.

Chunky Monkey is the only ice cream I buy now. Even though it's a bit pricey in the grocery store. Next time, I'm gonna try Wal-mart to see if I can find it at a better price than the grocery store I frequent. I just really enjoy the FUDGE CHUNKS, the mild banana flavor ice cream and the Walnuts. I didn't used to get excited about ice-cream before, unless it was Neapolitan. So glad, that the hotel we stayed at only had that option, so now I'm more open to sampling newer flavors than the same old thing everytime!

Sounds like you guys had a romantic relaxing weekend! I am sure your wife knows how lucky she is to have you. My husband and I have been together for almost 9 years. We do not get too much alone time because of the children. But when we do it is always very special. It is important to create memories and I am glad you did!

My wife don't get a lot of time alone either. We made a decision to spend time together after the kids have gone to bed at night time, watching our favorite sitcoms together! Not every night, but primarily on Tuesday through Friday. Keeps the relationship fun and fresh.

Husbands and wives should spend time together no matter how busy they are and courtship should not stop. It doesnt matter who starts the courtship but I guess its the husband's job. Sometimes when we forget to do that, there is a tendency love will not be there anymore and you dont want that to happen.

I think the way the two of you celebrated your Wedding Anniversary was awesome. It's hard to be able to plan for such things with the cost of living itself. It sounds like your wife herself and the plans that you had for your anniversary. I liked that you were able to spend time together it can be overwhelming when planning events like this because we can spend so much time on actually getting where we need to be that we get stressed. The way you had things arranged and set up was really nice that the both of you were able to enjoy your anniversary weekend. I also liked how things were arranged even when you got home with the kids, I'm glad you both had a good time. Sorry to hear that they didn't have your ice cream and that Pizza Hut arrangements went bad.

Although I was disappointed they didn't have my used to be favorite flavor of ice-cream, when my wife gave me the ice-cream that the hotel had. I said to myself, after I asked her did they have Neapolitan, I can do one or two things. 1. I can either try it, like it, and eat it. 2. I can simply throw my money away. 3. I could save to take home, to see if the kids like it. I chose the 1st option. Later on, I purchased some more to share with the kids for good behavior and doing well in school. I raved about it so much, till they couldn't wait to taste it. After they did, I got three unanimous votes that they liked it. My 9 yr old, recently went to the dentist, so I asked her what her favorite ice cream was, and she said CHUNKY MONKEY. Ha! Ha! I just started laughing.
