Unblack / Christian Metal ...!...?

Yes friends, i have recently come across this genre of music and i have to say i am liking it, lol. Essentially, they speak of the revelation and the apocalypse. Have you come across such a band before ? Have a look at this youtube song to know what i am talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqHlG17OHlE I have to give them the credits for being bold ! I like a bit of metal from time to time, but not THAT kind of metal . I prefer metal more old school from the 70's and 80's with real singing, not that grunting nonsense! What about Stryper, they were the original Christian Metal band! I like that song much better, but I would call that hard rock, more than metal.

There is also this one called Jeremy Camp. I think you check that out too, it's for everybody to listen. :)

Hello Saphrina, I know what how you are taking it, Saphy. I respect that and it is not exactly spiritually uplifting or motivating in the true sense but in a way it helps me 'fight' against evil thoughts and doings. I don't know if you can understand what i mean to say here, but the song helps me fight back some of my temptations. At least these songs are much better than other meaningless ones. Most of these songs speak about apocalypse and the judgement day. This one doesn't but most other do and i like to hear them at times.

I understand. Basically, people who once listened to such music are going to be able to listen throughout the song the very first time.

God gave us music to honor Him, & to soothe & cleanse our souls. This does neither, & they have stolen great lyrics only to demolish them. I find it grotesque & ugly. I think music about God should be especially uplifting. I can't see how imitating wild, uncontrolled screaming can "fight" the evil one. I believe you've fallen prey to a classic trap by the very one you think this music (& I use that term very loosely...) is supposedly designed to do. Well, speaking strictly for me, that style of music has always had the opposite effect on me! If I want uplifting music (which does ward off evil for me), I turn to classical (especially religious themes, such as many of the liturgical symphonies, or requiems), Gregorian chant, or in a pinch, older modern Protestant songs, such as "How Great Thou Art." I always enjoy Christmas carols (of the "O, Holy Night" variety, not the "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" sort! Gak!) No, hard metal & screaming so loudly that the lyrics & music become distorted takes my peace away. It's extremely difficult to imagine it having the opposite effect on anyone! I'm just sayin'... Maggiepie, I am open to creative criticism. And i agree with you, totally. It doesn't serve the true purpose of making someone feel up and motivating. It is only sometimes that i like to listen to that hard rock stuff. Anyways, it is still much much better than original black metal, isn't it ?? Hehe.. After seeing the comments on youtube, even i wonder how do they actually praise the name of the Lord with such music. I mean, it is okay if they simply just like the song instead of feeling close to God, but anyways if it helps them, then it is good. :) Doesn't work for me much either, i would listen to the original rock songs like Hillsong and Jeremy Camp.

Hello Maggiepie, I completely understand what you mean to say, friend. I don't listen to such music often. It's just that want to listen hard rock types, it's mainly the music i listen to when i listen to such music. I agree it's not the motivating types, but sometimes i have to say it just helps me ward off evil thoughts and temptations, in a good way. I listen to Jeremy Camp and Hillsong most of the times, and you can say that is uplifting and motivating and if something that truly spreads the message of God.

I know a Swedish power metal band called Narnia whoase lyrics are inspired by the Bible;I think it's great to have Christian Metal bands because rock is characterized by diversity and many narrow-minded people who consider heavy metal music to be the work of Satan may understand that this fascinating type of music is much more complex than they think.
