I kinda want a tattoo, I'm still not completely sure, I might go to get it and then chicken out. However, before I even get one I need the money plus what exactly I want to get. I keep changing my mind, but I do know I want it centered around me being a southern chick. I thought about a cowboy hat and boots, a cowboy hat hanging froma horseshoe, a rebel flag, maybe even just the word rebel. I've looked online for ideas, but I might just get someone to draw whats in my head and then take it to a tattoo parlor and ask them if they can draw that on me.
I've also got to figure out where I want the tattoo to be. I've heard that no matter where you get it it's going to hurt. I've heard it hurts worse around your tramp stamp area. (for those who don't know, that's your back at the bottom near your butt)
Who here has tattoos? How many do you have? Waht did you get and how much did it cost you to get it?

I dont have any tattoo but i can assure you it does hurt alot i have a friend she went on and got one and i was there with her she was literally crying holding my hands while getting the tattoo done, it was weird. but she seemed to keep up with the pain for the sake of that little artwork she got.

Well I think it all depends on a person's pain threshold and where they get the tattoo as well. I do want one, but at the same time I don't. I have to seriously think about it, but I know who I am going to have go with me to get mine.

try having one.it hurts of course but not the kind of hurt that you think it is.dont hesitate if you really want it.the more you hesitate, the more that it hurts.pain is all in the mind.just remember this, lebron james is afraid of needles when it comes to laboratory tests but you can find tattoo all over his body.unusual, isnt it?

This is very true, I mean pain is all in the way you see it, if you think about it more you're going to feel it more.

I think about it sometimes. I have several in my head that I have thought about. I have gone so many years without even one that I don't know if I could do it now. You have some interesting ideas for yours. I thought the scorpio icon with an actual scorpion crawling on it. And I love celtic knots so I thought some simple knowts around my neck for a necklace and then one on my arm or my wrist as a bracelet.

Those sounds like beautiful ideas as well. Jewelry as a tattoo seems like a nice idea I have to say but at the same time I'm not sure I could do that, what if I didn't like it anymore? I might would get my birthstone around my arm as a bracelet, or maybe around my ankle as an anklet though.

I never get tired of celtic knots though so I doubt I would have a problem. And adding some flowers intertwined might be pretty too. I like the ankle idea because it would be so noticeable if you were in a situation where you didn't want them to be.

I have thought about getting a tattoo but I dont know. Its partly because of the pain and partly because it is always going to be there that has given me pause. What if the artist messes up? What if I don't like it in 5, 10, 50 years? Granted, I am a huge music fan and it would have something to do with music notes or such but I dont know...I will probably never end up getting one no matter how much I think about it.

I have been thinking about it off and on for quite awhile and I really want to get one, but I'm also still thinking hard on it. You're right there could be many factors like the artist messing up or you ending up not liking it. That's why I'm kinda thinking what would i get, and I keep changing my mind.

Yes I know some people think it's trashy, but I believe it's all in what you get and where you get it as to whether it's truly trashy or not. I appreciate your response.

Mine was on my ankle, and yes it hurt. It says Free Spirit in cursive writing. I like the idea of the word rebel more than the rebel flag, personally. My sister had one on her shoulder, and she said it didn't hurt that badly. The fleshier the area, the less it will hurt. And try to think of being 80. With whatever you get, do you think you'll want it at 80? I don't regret getting mine, but my sister does regret getting hers. So maybe while you save your money for it you'll be able to decide for sure.

So fleshier areas hurt less? That's what I was thinking and I believe I was told but I wasn't sure. I definitely want it to be a fleshier area then. I wonder about the back of my leg, but I kinda want to be able to see it without looking in a mirror so that's going to limit it quite a bit.
I'll be saving up for it a little at a time and so I'm sure by then I'll know what I want or if I even want one.

I'm looking to get my first tattoo also. My 30th birthday is in May and I'm thinking about getting it then. I used to want a lower back tattoo till it got the nickname "tramp stamp" lol. The tattoo I picked out is for lower back but I think I'm going to get it across the top of my shoulders under my neck. It's a butterfly that is blue/green/yellow. The color starts out blue at the ends of the wings then changes into the other colors as it goes in. I found it on the website tattoofinder.com. They have a huge selection of tattoos in lots of categories. Good luck!

My only thing is I see so many I like and well I want them all, that and I can't print anything out here so I'd have to have a friend do it for me. That tattoo you describe sounds really pretty. I have a friend with a few butterfly tattoos. I'm not sure, I like butterfly tattoos but I think I'll go a different route. If I could ever make up my mind. I don't think I've heard anything about whether tattoos on yoru shoulders hurt or not, so sorry I can't tell ya anything about that.

I haven't got one, but the main reason is that I have not seen anything that I wanted forever..lol..I'm too indecisive I guess. If I were going to get one, it would have to mean something very special to me I guess.
I have a friend that just opened up her own shop here and she does beautiful work. She has been wanting to get a hold of me for some time now..lol...blank canvas I am. I just don't want one right now. It depends on how big and detailed you want it and color too as far as the price goes. I have heard they are very uncomfortable too.

I don't have any, but I've been thinking of getting one. Specially two years ago, when I got hooked into watching all those tattoo shows on TV.
But my problem was always not being able to decide on something that I would like to be permanent. I was always afraid that I might change my mind on a design after a few years.
