There are some pregnancy test that cannot work properly but if she want to make sure about it she can also try pregnancy test again after few days,i think 5 days to 1 week or she must visit a Ob gyne. I would have your friend go see the doctor and have them do a blood test. It is much more accurate and they can tell how far along she is. I recently found out I was pg and took two tests. One came out negative and the other positive. The blood test is probably her best bet....just to be sure. There are other things that can delay someone's period...stress for example or fibroids. It is best to check with her doctor.
