Structuring and Strategizing my Time at myLot

I have seen many discussions that are asking about strategies and goal-setting when it comes to making money at myLot. I have come to my own conclusions about this and I wonder how you think. Initially, many people come to try to make some cash but when you get here, it is an entirely different type of forum. There is a lot of teaching, learning and sharing that goes on here and I think that is what makes myLot different, special and great. People are here sharing their lives and their experiences.
I have decided that when I come to myLot, I want to start and respond to quality discussions. I am not here to worry about how many responses I get or how everything is getting ranked (or even what or who is the most popular or what is the highest). I am genuinely interested in discussing, learning and sharing. Many people are focused on how quickly they can get to cash-out or that myLot is a slow earner. My focus for my time here is different. There are a lot of smart people here who are sharing various things about business and life and that is where I want to spend my time. The money that you make here can be looked at as the extra bonus for the quality that you have contributed to the site.
I know some will still want to create or comment on 400 or 500 discussions. Some will set a limit of how many conversations that they want to make in a day, a week or a month, but for me, I am going for quality and just not incessant actions to race toward a $10 goal. I hold no judgment for the people who interact with the site in this way but I am choosing differently especially since I only have 24 hours in a day (and only a certain amount of that time can be dedicated to myLot). I am interested in making all of my minutes of my days count, for all of us only get so many. What about you? Are you making your minutes count?

Hi Beaufly and Congrats on your first milestone here on myLot
(100 posts)!
I don't have a goal/plan here on myLot and find that this way I enjoy the site. With the enjoyment comes a great deal of progress for me. See I find that if I was to track and worry then it would become a chore and if it is a chore then there would be no way I can participate the way I do. I do take many breaks and do spend a great deal of time here, plus I mult-task on other sites as well as offline. Once I started to be really active it was then I realized that it was much then the money, because in reality I could earn more offline instead of spending so much time on here as I do.
I don't find that waste my time on here instead I feel that I utilize my time well because I am truly still enjoying the site.

I hope you continue to enjoy the site. I really still do, and I have been here since about six months after it opened. The more people who are active here, the more choices we all have about responding and interacting with others.

Thanks HWG for noticing.....lol. I saw it and thought, "Oh my." It is a milestone that has come in its own time. You also seem to have a good time here and I bump into your responses quite often which I think are geared toward what you know about and are interested in. You generally just seem to be having a good time (or your avatar does anyway.....lol). I do not think you would be on here so much if you were not interested. I think that time is not wasted if you are spending in it in a way that is fulfilling to you. myLot is working for ya so keep up all the good work and I enjoy reading your posts.

Wow, I do not know much about myLot history or when it first started but I am assuming that this site has been up for awhile. Then, not only do you continue to enjoy it but it has really become a part of your life and your days. Wow! It's good to know that a site can have such an impact!

I do try to make payout each month, but I am not conscious of how many I post or comment on. I am on other sites, and I have many things to do besides be on here. You will not see me counting how many I have done or my rankings or anything like that. If I am running behind, then I will probably try hard to create a new discussion to share in. That always gets me to comment back and that helps me as well as being fun. There are other times when I will be just reading, to see what is happening. I read a discussion with more than seven pages of comments last night. Is that wasted time? No, not really. I responded in that discussion three or more times. It does not change my rankings all that much, but it lets people know what I am thinking about.

No I do not think you wasted time at all GG because you were interested in the subject matter and that is why you read and continued to comment. I think that's great. I think what you did is really more in line with the spirit of the site. I also think that reading through many of the comments and posts more than once is not a waste. Usually this type of activity happens for me when I'm really interested in the topic. I haven't experienced 7 pages yet. I think I have topped out around 5. Sometimes some of the other responses in a discussion spark a new idea for you to comment on or to think about. From what I can tell and from the comments of yours that I have read, you seem to respond to things that you know about, have an opinion about or have some experience with. It's great that you can do that and make payout. I, by no means, want people to think that just because I am not structuring my time in that way, that they shouldn't. I think it depends on the person.

I must confess I slacked a lot at mylot. I used to love responding at least 20 discussions daily. Now, due to lack of time, I have hardly earned much. In fact, I have another one dollar and thirty cents to go to make it to a payout.

No worries, you will get there. Just have fun with it, if it seems too much like a chore, you will dread it and it will be slow coming. When you get on, just make it work for you. It does not matter if you have 5 min or 50, just keep it light and before you know it, you will be here and cashing out. What a feeling! Take care, my friend.

I think that you can reach a balance where you can get both fulfilled and satisfied by discussion and make some cash. In my situation, I have limited time, so I want to make the most of it. I am happy that you are enjoying this discussion and myLot! Your thoughts are reflecting the best of both worlds!

What I like about mylot is it's very informative and there's a lot of ways to get quality answers from our dear mylotters.Another great thing about mylot is of course they pay their users.I can say I am not really here for the money but I am here for discussions.I felt like this community is helping me express my feelings when I can't talk to someone else.I am also the same to you,I don't make or set limits but it's up to the users as well. I just respond to the discussions that interest me.Happy mylotting!

You have added a wonderful discussion about what I think is one of the benefits and other places on the internet where you can meet people, make friends, and have good and relevant discussions about our lives. I know that for some people, discussions and friendships online can be therapeutic and help us to express our experiences and share our lives. It is great where we can find friendships and "safe" places to share.

For me it's all about everything; the fun, the learning, sharing of ideas and most of all the money. Each time i'm loting, i try not to forget what brought me to this site in the first place, which is to make money. All i do is to search for relevant topics and comment, share my ideas, learn and make friends, that's fun and i love it. I also try to be marked 'the best response' in a discussion, it makes me happy.

Your post is joyous! You sound like you are having a good time here and responding and discussing relevant discussions that are important to you. As long as you are happy and having fun, I think you will be ok. Like I have reiterated through this thread, there's nothing wrong with making some cash also. Good for you for going for the best response. Happy Quality Posting!

I am here for the money and I am not afraid to say that. However, I have realized that if I put a more laid back structure to earning here it seems to be easier to earn what I want to earn here. However, i am still struggling with making the minutes I spend on this site count and that's also becuase I find myself being very distracted with other sites so much that I don't spend the time I could here searching as I could be for more discussions that interest me.

SomeCowgirl, I do not think there is anything wrong with being here for the money. That stance is just not my approach. I am trying to make my minutes count in all areas of my life, not just myLot so this approach feels the most authentic for me. I think we all must, ultimately, do what is best for us. Some people have tons of opinions on many subjects and want to share them and by all means, they should and be welcomed for that.

I loveyour attitude to Mylot. I have also found a love for the discussion and hope that some kind of quality might follow.
I do appriciate that mylot and it's payment might differ from country to country. For example in the UK where i come from the payment is only a bonus but in some other parts of the world it actually makes a difference. Then i can see why some discussions look so hurried. Also i love the fact that some people take their time and make lovely discussions even though they might use up valuable time making "money".
i think mylot is different things to different people but most of all mylot is a GOOD place to be! xxxxxx

I live in the land of capitalism, America. There is nothing wrong with making money. More power to all of the myLot power brokers! I spend quite a bit of time discussing opportunities and ways to make/earn money but this place (for me) is more than that. It is richer and fuller and as HWG states, "is a place where you can have fun." I know that, for some in the many countries that are represented here, the money factor can make a difference in their lives and their worlds. It is great that a site like myLot exists where they can make money. I appreciate and understand that.
For me, my approach helps me to organize myLot in my life and in my brain. I like having conversations. I like writing so this is a great place for me. I am treating each moment with more care these days and that is why I wrote this post. I am presenting my path and am looking forward to reading others who may have differing or similar ideas.

I don't have a certain goal of how many discussions I respond to daily or anything like that. I just respond to the ones that interest me and that I know I can make a quality post. I was actually just look for a good forum to join for something to do.. and I found mylot that actually pays you to post! I'm mainly interested in the interactions.

I think that being able to interact with all different types of people with things and ideas that are important to you is the most important thing (for me anyway). Some people are able to discuss many things on here and spend vasts amount of time but I am limited here by time and I want to make my visits count (hence, quality discussions).
