During the time that i was so depressed and all my mylot friends were here to cheer me up, i have carefully thought about my life and how i would want it to be. I thought of getting a tattoo to remind me of who i am and who i'm supposed to be. I don't want to rely on anybody for my happiness, i should rely on myself. I realized too that I am the kind of person who's supposed to bring happiness to everyone. I was like that before my depression and i want to remind myself that that's who i am.
Friends told me i'm a rare person and whoever has me as a friend would consider themselves lucky. Because of this, i remember the humming bird. Hummingbirds are delicate, splendid little birds that continually amaze anyone lucky enough to see them.
The bird and i have so many things in common and having a hummingbird as a tattoo would always remind me of myself.

Hi, fellow lotter I've always been curios about tattoos and actually I would not mind getting one but I'm kind of afraid of pain, also my mother would flip out. yeah even though I'm all grown up my mother and I are really close and she still would not like it if I got one, hey maybe you could tell me where I could get a realistic looking stick on?

There are a lot of henna tattoo shops. Don't know where your location is so can't tell you exactly where it is. But in here we can find them in the mall and sometimes beauty salons offer henna services too.

I think that if it means something to you then it is the perfect tattoo. I do not believe in getting tattoos "just because", I believe they should have meaning. I have several tattoos and they all mean something to me and I have never regretted them even now 15 years after my first. Just make sure you study up on your local artists and find one whose sty;e you really like. Call and see if they are willing to make something up for you to preview. If they are cocky and will not do this you really don't want to deal with them anyway. Good luck and don't let anyone make you think different, and if they do then you probably didn't really want it anyway.

You are right. Nobody can change my mind. It's my own decision and i didn't have to ask permission from anybody at all. My husband even told me we should go together and my mother-in-law is ecstatic and excited to see me have one. People who have bad perception about this are just shallow i think. Even if they don't like it they don't have any right to persuade anybody not to do it. They should just shut their mouth and not say anything coz i'm not asking for an opinion.

I personally like tattoo's. I like tattoo's that symbolize something. I don't believe in getting or having a tattoo just to have one. I think that the tattoo of the hummingbird is very pretty and respresents well of who you have explained yourself to be. I have one tattoo, but I am getting another soon. My current tattoo is on my right shoulder and it is of my daughters name. My second tattoo is going on my left shoulder and it is going to be my new daughters name. They are pretty obvious as to what they represent, they represent my children and that no matter where I go I am always carrying them with me. Everyone has there own preference, and I think that you should do what feels right by you. I wish you the best of luck.

thank you so much for this nice comment. I would like to have a tattoo of my son's name too but i have to start with my own first. I know that getting a tattoo can be very addictive. My husband has four and he's getting another one and we'll do it together.

I think that it is a very cute idea, and also you chose something that you can always relate to, as a symbol of your personality.
In my country, tattoos are really bad seen, as people associate tattoos with the mafia, and because of that a person with a tattoo often won't be allowed to get into a swimming pool or a public bath, unless the tattoo is well covered so it won't be visible for the others. I consider this a stupidity, as not only mafia related people have tattoos. Tattoos are an expression of art.

That is a very crude thinking. People should grow up and be more open minded about such things. And i think people should respect other's choices and not enforce their own to others.

I am happy that you are okay now. We tend to have depression bouts sometimes, it comes with being alive.
I have always wanted so much to have a tattoo, but pity cause I am a sissy and blood frightens me to the max.I have asked around if it really hurts, and most or almost all said it hurts. Ewwwww...
So i settled for henna, until i got allergic to the ink which is being applied to retouch every two weeks.
I gave up on tats..but I don't give up living, I cry, I regret, I complain..but next morning I wake up, I talk to the Almighty One.
And as my foot touches the floor to get up and start another day, I am ready to face my battle for the day and try to give up on battles that I can never win.

Great. It really takes a lot of courage to get a tattoo and it's not just for fashion but it has a deeper meaning in it. Who knows someday you'll find that courage too.

It's a good thing to be able to find something that u can relate yourself to. I have not found any for myself at the moment, but i believe i will soon. I will tattoo it on my body too because it serves as a lifetime reminder. It can be something related to my experience, happy or bad, i would gladly accept it all. Tattoo is an art to me, appreciated by me, and only me, to know the true meaning behind whatever is inked on me. Right?

I am not a fan of tattoos for any reason. I think they degrade a person's body! I also see so many people who has gone completely nuts with tattoos! I don't think they are pretty. I don't have one and I can't stop anyone who wants to get one. I just hope people would think it through before they have one done! At is for life or you will regret it someday and it is painful to have them removed!

If you have read what i have written then you would know that it's not a spur of the moment decisions and i have reasons which i considered valid. Yes you are right, you can't convince people not to get one and you will never understand what it means to those who had one. A tattoo is not simply an ornament to make one's self pretty. It's not either for your eyes but for the bearer of the tattoo.

May I ask Blue how they degrade the body or person?

I am not a fan of tattoos, either. And I'm so afraid of needles, one pricking and I'm gone!
But, I suppose you are brave enough if you consider having one. It's good to hear that you're out of depression. Sometimes, we have to undergo things like those to come face to face with our selves and take a good look who we really are, and that, yes, we do not need to rely on others to be happy.
On a thought, are you sure about the tattoo? I'm reminded of a case decided by the Supreme Court where it said that having tattoos is not an indication of being "criminal" but simply that one has bad taste. But, that is just the opinion of old men in black robes.

Definitely sure about it and the supreme court's decision has nothing to do about it. I have stated my case in getting one and people judging another base on her or his tattoo is a shallow person who only lives in a very limited world and culture.

Unlike the other comments you have gotten. I love tattoos. This one is beautiful and it is great that you got a hummingbird to remind you of who you are. I also have a tattoo. Mine is of butterflies. They remind me that I am beautiful and free spirited.
