Now I am over weight. I used to be thinner when I was younger but I never looked as thin and disgusting as some of the pictures in this discussion forum. I was looking at the pictures at the top of the page and then clicked through to see more. I was disgusted by 90% of them. Now people who lost weight and look healthy good for you, great job! The other pictures though some apparently of models where disgusting. They where so thin as to look like their on their death beds. It is no sexy to see every bone in a persons body. It is not cute to see the skin sag between bones. It is not pretty to be so thin that the bones of the skull look like they will break through the skin. I just found this disturbing and again this is what our woman, girls, men and boys look at and think this is how I should be. No, No it is not. Healthy yes, athletic yes, but skin and bones OMG NO!

I am overweight, too. However I understand that models needs to be n a strict diet to be n good shape for the clothes or products she would wear. It is a demand from the fashion industry and sometimes from the movie industry, too. This condition has then been adopted by people who are so fashion conscious thus you see those people with so skinny shape. Like you, I don't want to be that skinny. But other people may like them fine.

It is those who are so thin as to be literally sickly that bothers me. Being healthy is wonderful.

Remember Twiggy! OMG! I thought she was way too thin and I was just a kid! I think that the sizes that models have to wear are so tiny that it is rediculous! Alot of men are really attracted to that size and it makes me wonder how does that corolate to the perverts who are attracted to young children?

ahhh, Twiggy! She was so young, she had that androgynous look where she hadn't finished growing. Now, as an adult and she's over 60 now, she does have a shape, heck, at 17 I wasn't well endowed yet either (that came with my weight and took surgery to lose...)

I do not remember her but I have seen shows where she was brought up and WOW! I am not sure that attraction has much to do with kids as brain washing by the media.

As a teenager, I was thin (by Indian standards where people prefer flesh to bones). One day at school (when I was 17), our class teacher spoke to another classmate of mine about eating healthy since she was too thin. Another classmate asked the teacher why she picked on that particular student since she wasn't as thin as I was. The teacher replied that I was 'thin' but looked healthy...while the other student looked weak and 'droopy' (yes, that's the word she used). I wasn't thin where my bones stuck out...though it probably seemed that way because my bone structure is small and I've got thin wrists and ankles. Now that I'm married with kids and my body has filled out, I'm right for my height and have no worries on that front. I don't think bony thin is sexy.

I think that teacher was right. Thin but healthy because it is genetics is much different then those who are sickly to be thin.

i cant really say i WAS fat, but i kind of look like i was healthy. but then a few years ago, like when i was around 18, i got sick, i didn't want to eat, i lost about 15 pounds. and even up to now i am still underweight. i am skinny but not skin and bones LOL. i still wanna gain some more weight. i tried all the things that people here on mylot advised me to do because i have a discussion about wanting to get fat but still, i am skinny . i admit i don't find myself sexy nor beautiful because of how i look especially that i am skinny. but i am even more bothered seeing these teenagers nowadays being so skinny and they are even proud of it, posting on Facebook that they are binging on foods and then purging. it is still better to at least have some more meat and some fats (now that is sexy) than just being skinny.

Yes healthy is sexy and I am scared for those who binge and purge they have no clue what lies ahead of them

Oh, dear lady. I am going to agree with you. I am 5'2" and wieght around 145. I don't see myself as really overweight but I am not thin either. My husband likes me just the way I am. (Most of my weight is in my bust area..haha). My doctor thinks I should be around 120 pounds. And there is something to that. I feel really good and have more energy around 130 but 120 seems really thin. I think the scales that people, even doctors use to gauge peoples ideal weight are really on the thin side. Yes, most models and stars etc out there insist on being overly skinny. I try to instill in my family, especially my daughters that too thin is just as unattractive as heavier. Although, I have an opionion on some heavy women that are still really beautiful but that is for another day. Athletic yes, skin and bones no. I'm with you.

Thank you and I hope more people feel this way as well. I think you weight is fine. My cousin is about your height and about that weight and though thinner when younger she is happier with herself now.

It is not beautiful to be very thin at the same time to be really be over weight, there are factors to be considered in managing health one thing is our eating habits you might not eat too much fats or protein but we are unnecessary junk foods that will bol us or avoiding to eat that leads to lesser weight, let us be healthy think healthy and live healthy.

Back when I was a teenage, I had an eating disorder. It was tough. I only ate once a day, and there were even days when I ate nothing at all. I guess the reason why I developed that eating disorder is that I wanted to be like the Hollywood celebrities that I often saw in magazines such as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, and many others. I am glad that I overcame that disorder. It was not an easy task, but I was able to do so with the help of the people who loves me no matter what I look. The pictures on the forum, on the other hand, are interesting. However, I am sure that I do not want to look like that. Yes, I want to be slim but not to the extent that I will look like skin and bones.
