How often do you use the positive rating button when responding to posts?

When responding to discussion posts do you reach for the three buttons positive, negative and report buttons? I see a lot of discussions with a lot of responses but there are quite a few discussions which are left unresolved. If the members do not utilize the powers invested with them the job of the admin and the moderator becomes very difficult. I am aware that my Lot is depending on the members to better run the show and we are expected to exercise our powers and by doing so we become responsible for the improvement in the standard of discussions here. My conclusions are quite simple 1. I need to use the three buttons i.e. positive, negative and report. 2. Use the positive button in a plentiful and wholesome manner. 3. The negative to be used sparingly, very sparingly.Unfortunately this button is used more frequently and without restraint 4. The really powerful button is the report button but more than the power it is the responsibility that goes with it.It is important to stand up for what is right and make decisive statements. If you do not report what you feel is wrong youmay never understand your own potential and personal power. I'd like to hear what you have to say about this.

Yes, I usually rate positive rating to all the discussions I have been, I also rate positively those who respond to my discussion or other people's discussion. I don't see the point of rating negatively to anyone who responds because we need to understand and keep in mind that everyone has the right to their own opinion on things - even if their opinions are different from ours.

I guess i have to change my perception about what other members do here on mylot.Like you , if people start to identify the positive in others and mark them positively it will make a huge difference.

I positive rate each and every member who responds to my discussions. Although I do not start very many I do get 50 - 80 responses so I am one to positive rate regardless if they agree and or not with me. I feel they took the time to read my discussion and allow me some interesting discussion feedback. Anyone who is abusive, I will simply report. In my entire membership with myLot I have only rated one person and that because he was making fun of a couple of members because of their English which is something not allowed on myLot, after I reported the member because I notice he was doing this all over the Lot. I also rate positive to a great many discussions I do respond to especially if it is a member with a great discussion and one that comments back to the responders.

That is a nice policy and worth emulating. Appreciate people liberally and have responses to respond to. It is like doing your good deeds for the time you spend on line.It is a nice positive outlook that you have towards life.

You would be surprised to know there are many like me who adopt this habit. There are many who created countless discussions a day who do respond to their responders. Take a look at your homepage and see the update daily one discussion that is the highest rated, that will give you an idea as to who habitually applies positive in their discussion. Thanks so much for my BR.

I use the positive button for everything but the following: If somebody is not being nice, I will neg them. I'm not talking about disagreements, but disgareeable personal remarks. If the remarks are also abusive I will report them.

Your response reminds me to brush up on the guidelines. It is important to know what should not be done as well. Yes, disagreements are alright but unnecessary personal remarks should not be suffered. Use of discretion to or not to punish violation rests with the member so that genuine errors can be forgiven and myLotters can correct themselves.

Quite often. I rarely use negative rating.. somedays I dont respond. Just go about rating friends even though their responses are not exactly what would invite positive rating. This is because there are others who would go out of their way to rate them negative. Its been a while however since I did that. :)

I would not expect you to behave otherwise vandana. But I suppose we all need to use this power well. Lot of improper discussions are not reported. That would protect it for everyone else.

I like to use the rate button, especially in discussions I started. I always rate anyone that responds to my discussions. I don't use the negative button a whole lot, unless someone posted and their post is of no relevance to the discussion. I think it's in the FAQ's where it says to not just rate negative if you disagree with someone. Which makes sense. Just because you disagree with someone's views, that doesn't make them wrong. That's no reason to rate them negative. I will also use the report button, if necessary. If you violate the terms of mylot, I have no problem reporting your post. A few days ago, there were a couple trolls around here (it could have just been one person, not sure) and I reported every one of those posts. The admins may not see every one of these posts and I have no problem helping them out there.

No harm in marking positive in some one else's discussion so long as the post is positive in nature.

Well I for one will use these buttons often when responding back to discussions and rate as I see fit depending on the attitude of the person responding back, etc. I for one am not the Best in keeping up with my discussions and handing out Best Responses, etc. but trying to catch up. I go thru spurts at times when I am active here, and gone a lot of the time so it is hard to keep up.
