Caterpillars attack, attack some areas. In fact, I hear, attack caterpillars, have attacked Yogyakarta, in Bantul. I feel worried, if the caterpillars attack, attacked the area where I live. My child's skin is very sensitive, I'm afraid my child will itch.

it is frightening about this attack Indah.
but if your area is attacked too by them, i guess there is nothing you can do but try to heal and reduce the impact of it.
try to supply 'minyak kayu putih' and kill those caterpillars whenever you see them grown in your area

hi indahfth,
i dont think it will attack people.
last year we had a caterpillar epidemic too. they stayed in farms and ate the leaves of plants hence the farmers were so affected.
i hope it is not as bad as you say it is.

thats kinda bad.
you should really be very keen and watch the kids then.
guess insecticides will be good to use when they are there. and make the kids stay inside mosquito nets when sleeping.

We hope that the march of the caterpillars will be halted before it reaches your city.

Have you sprayed the area with a repellent? If not you can try it. I think you can take precaution by having your area clean so that you can see the caterpillars and spray them when they come close to the child, be prepared for that. If you are worried and frightened, you will not the common sense to fight it. Be calm as possible,

From the news on television, caterpillars attack, occurs because climate change is causing weather anomalies, so that there are elements of thermodynamics that lead to disruptions of ecosystems, and life cycles of insects (caterpillars), which entered the dry season at this time, the proliferation of caterpillars become very fast. Because of the availability of food, such as mango leaves, guava leaves, pine needles, etc., so that the proliferation of caterpillars, to be faster. Since Predator prey caterpillars, has been increasingly reduced, such as Birds, bats, weaver ants, spiders.

hi indahfth I am not in India but here in the US we have some states that are mainly agricultural states. there the farmers
have to battle vaiour caterpillar attacks on just plant stuff. they are not carnivorus they only eat plants and only attack herbaceous plants. they do not attack people at all.Just caution children not to pick up
the hairy caterpillars they see eating for example tomatoes. Children
are often not afraid of bugs but thee fuzzy caterpillars will pri.ck their
skin and cause irritation. I repeat caterpillars do not attack people or dogs or cats. they live on plant life, and plant life only.So I really would not panic at all. I lived on ou r farm for some 30 years and had not ever seen a caterpillar in our home ever.

How frightening to say the least. I do hope you, your family and son are not affected by this. I would say keep him indoors as much as you can, and hopefully they do not get inside the house.
If it does happen, I just read an article that recommends:
Take some over the counter allergy medicine to help with the allergic reactions. Anything that you might take for a bee sting will usually work well with a caterpillar sting. Technically, a caterpillar does not sting as it does not have a stinger. It actually delivers venom through the hairs and spines on its body.
Does not sound like they will sting because they do not have stingers. You can read more here.
