Supreme Court Justice Rules in Favor of Church & Christians

Yep, you read it right. There was a time in America when the church was respected and protected by the law of the land. The term separation of church and state was not intended to build a wall keeping Christ out of government. Read this short article please. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/987191/posts Now read what Supreme Court Justice Oliver Ellsworth wrote in 1802 to the general assembly of Connecticut: Oliver Ellsworth Chief-Justice of the Supreme Court The primary objects of government are the peace, order, and prosperity of society. To the promotion of these objects, particularly in a republican government, good morals are essential. Institutions for the promotion of good morals are therefore objects of legislative provision and support: and among these religious institutions are eminently useful and important. The legislature, charged with the great interests of the community, may, and ought to countenance, aid and protect religious institutions—institutions wisely calculated to direct men to the performance of all the duties arising from their connection with each other, and to prevent or repress those evils which flow from unrestrained passion. I'm so tired of hearing that America was never a Christian nation, and that our founding fathers were Deists, and that they believed in God but were not Christians. The writings of our Founding Fathers say otherwise. http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=78 Sounds to me like they were followers of Christ. And the Congress of the United States even commissioned a printing of the BIBLE. http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=46 Now, were the founders Christians who believed in the Bible? I don't see how it can be denied...but go ahead and try.

I agree, and people will come here and argue the point until blue in the face. But if you just look at your historical writings, rituals, etc. I am with you on this matter. By the way, every Sunday at church, we pray for our military, and lawmakers. Look at the more extreme religions that are forever talking about wiping out enitre races, entire religions.

Have you checked out wallbuilders? The site is awesome if you're a history buff. I've also been sent links to some homeschool resources that have tons of documents from throughout history, even the works of the great philosophers. I know I'm weird...But I simply love history! If we are going to save our Republic, it will take Christians and moral people to do it. Notice I said moral people, our founding fathers knew that it wasn't only men who sat next to them in the pews, it was all people who followed God's moral law that made a country strong. I believe that is why the refered to the CREATOR in the Declaration of Independence and Constitituion. They wanted to include the Jewish people, who btw....fought in the Revolution along side the Christians.

Personally it is the people in Government offices here in the US that continue to deny that there is a God and that Christianity and the Bible is not important. They were the ones who took Prayer out of schools. I heard our Pastors son's teacher (He is a Freshman I think), question and ask them if anyone had a Bible at school expecting no one to raise their hand. He was shocked when Cameron did but it made me very proud of him for sure.

Mostly, it was the ACLU and the courts. But yes, the government is seeking to rid themselves and us of the inherent obligation in admitting we are a Christian nation. Because if they admitted that, they'd not have an excuse for the path they want this nation to take...to become part of the NWO. The battle has always been God vs. satan...and satan's time has come to make his last stand. In the book of Isaiah 14:12 it says How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground (earth), which did weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I wll exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north(God's throne): I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. He has used the ambitions of wicked men to try and accomplish this throughout history. In the ancient city of Babylon up until the present time, it has be Lucifer who deceives mankind and mankind has followed him into war and destruction and kingdom building. We will soon see the final battle in the valley of Meggido.

Actually, I must very respectfully disagree with you because I don't think America is nor should it be a "Christian nation" and that really has little or nothing to do with whether or not all or most of the founders were Christians or not. I was taught and have always strongly believed that America is a melting pot. Included in that pot are people of many different faiths and of no faith. Separation of church and state is necessary in a country like ours. That does NOT mean I don't think any church should be respected and protected by our laws but no church can BE our law. It also definitely doesn't mean I don't believe we should have good morals but I happen to believe there are those who at least claim to be Christians who have anything but and there are also those who are of faiths other than Christianity as well as agnostics and atheists who have great moral character. Of course it isn't correct to attack Christians in general as being dangerous but that is NOT what the Homeland Security report - which was done during the Bush Administration - or Secretary Napolitano said. The reference was made regarding EXTREMISTS and there was also a report about left-wing extremists.. There are EXTREMISTS in most every religion, political party or ideology or many other kinds of groups and they certainly can be dangerous. Annie

You make some good points. The only thing I will say in response is; is it then correct or permissable to attack Christians as being 'dangerous'? Not only did our director of Homeland Security say so, she has a CIA report to back up her claims. Kinda like saying Jews are responsible for sacrificing Christian babies and therefore its permissable for them to be run out of the country or kill them?

Let me make it clear to you. I read the report. And it's left wide open to interpretation what is meant by 'extremist'. I say, if a person is prolife and kills a doctor who does abortions, there are already laws in place to prosecute them. If a person is a member of the NRA and gets up on a water tower and shoots people, there are already laws in place to prosecute them. As for sects and cults, if they break the law in their 'practices', there are alread laws in place to prosecute them. So why do we need MORE laws like the 'prolonged detention' law? My goodness annie, I am suspect just for posting the posts I do. Do you not see that? All it would take is one good crisis and Obama can enact this law. And I could be arrested, held and have no right to due process. I will say this, I do not care for fringe groups who take things to extreme. I do not agree in much of the philosophical cr@p that is out there. BUT unless they hurt someone or break a law, they HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE AND THINK AS THEY WANT. And if they can come for them, it's possible they can come for me and you. Think about that. Think about David Koresh. Can you tell me one thing he and those people did to deserve to die? We may not have agreed with his teachings but to kill women and children CHILDREN in such a horrible way is WRONG. And the Ruby Ridge incident, what possible reason was there to shoot the man and his 14 year old son? Research it. No one in the FBI or the ATF was punished for those things happening. NO ONE.

In some aspects, the church is still respected. Studies show that there are fewer crimes in neighborhoods that have churches. I guess criminals are still afraid of God. But you're right. Once everyone knew and understood that our country was founded by men of faith on Christian ideals. Now, our kids aren't allowed to learn that in school so we have to teach them that ourselves.

I want to know how it is in a country that has up towards 90% of their citizens believing in God, and a representative congress that is suppose to REPRESENT the wishes of the citizen, that we have these kinds of laws and practices that deny God? It is the courts and I propose an ammendment to make the Supreme Court a elected position.

I so love wonderful, credible links you produce! Wow! I had some knowledge of this before, but the detail! The actual quotes in their context--proving once & for all how secular humanists have corrupted our country---! It's hideously plain to see here! I wish this were mandated reading in every G.I.C.,* but since that's run by Secular Humanists, that'll never happen... Kudos to you for fighting them, Debra! * Government Indoctrination Centers, which call themselves "schools" Maggiepie "By our form of government, the Christian religion is the established religion, & all sects & denominations of Christians are placed on the same equal footing." ~ Declared by a 1799 court

You're welcome Maggiepie. I love history and cannot abide them lying about it. I homeschooled for this very reason. And when I HAD to put my kids in public school, they argued with their teachers about history and social studies!
