Do you ever suffer from sore eyes, and what do you do?

I'm a sufferer, although it's thankfully rare. I have highly sensitive eyes, and cannot play ducks and drakes with them. For example, if I get something in my eye and poke at it too long, I'll be left with sore and red eyes. A camera flash can make my eyes sore; and recently, I opened a photocopier at the wrong time and it flashed in my face, my eyes were sore for days. If I get something noxious in them like dried paint flakes or something, they'll go like Christopher Lee in that Dracula movie. I'll get up in the night, and they'll have gone all puffy and hooded, and bloodshot. But if I'm careful, my eyes are fine. How about you? Do you ever suffer from extremely sore and puffy eyes, and what do you do? Just wait it out, or bathe them, or use eye drops, or what? Let's talk sore eyes!

Oh Love , I'm so sorry. My eyes have always been sensitive to light. For a few years I have had bouts of Iritis, a eye disorder where the iris clouds over. The type i had didn't hurt but my eye would be red and my vision would be cloudy. I had to take eye drops for a few months but it cleared. I hope you eyes get and feel better.

Hi Sarah. I'm sorry to hear about your Iritis. I get this condition from time to time, it lasts for between a day and a couple of weeks and then just heals spontaneously. My eyes are just especially sensitive. Good to hear from you!

I do not suffer from extremely sore or puffy eyes. I am sorry to hear that you do. I think a perscription dropper for the eyes would be the best thing to try to ease the pain.

Thanks Steph, yes, if it doesn't clear up soon, I'll have to get a prescription dropper from the doctor.

Doctors and nurses usually prescribe eye drops with steroids and antibiotics. You should refrain from rubbing your eyes to not further irritate them. An oral antibiotic may be required if the infection is severe.
