Late Easter

Did you know why? According to a Fourth Century ruling, the date of Easter is set for on the first Sunday following the Paschal Full Moon, which is the first Full Moon of Spring, occurring on or shortly after the Vernal Equinox. March 22 is the earliest Easter can occur on any given year, and April 25 is the latest. (according to the farmer's almanac)

Thank you for the information. Yes there would be some discrepancy with regards to dates of certain holidays. It is because of the calendars that weve been using. Like the julian calendar, chinese or lunar calendar which doesnt exist when the holidays were started. After all were not after the dates, were after the essence of the holidays that were celebrating.

It may seem complex to some folks (& I'm one of them...), but there are valid reasons for the choice. You may, if you read down a ways, figure this out by going here: http://www.oikoumene.org/en/resources/documents/wcc-commissions/faith-and-order-commission/i-unity-the-church-and-its-mission/towards-a-common-date-for-easter/towards-a-common-date-for-easter.html All calculations aside, it's easy enough to keep track due to the fact that there are plenty of on- & off-line sources which give one plenty of notice as to when Easter/Pascha arrives each year, so there's really no excuse for being unprepared. As it happens, by the way, this is the once-every-12 years event in which Orthodoxy & Heterodoxy celebrate the Holy Day simultaneously. If you get a perpetual calendar, you can plan your Easter/Pascha 12 years in advance of any given year! Here in MI, it is cold this year. Frost in the morning. Some flowers are growing, but they are late. Will be so glad for nice weather and sleeveless tops. Do have a nice Easter.

Yes I knew this SallyJ. I think is is stupid and wish it was not like this! Like other holidays, like Christmas,it is always on the 25th of December! New Years Day is always on January 1st! Why can't Easter be on the same sunday every year? I have never liked this! Leave it to the heads of religion to come up with something so stupid!

I think it should be, but that is the first thing I look for when I get a new calendar.
