Have you ever borrowed money from your mum?

I'm eldest sister of 05 siblings. I must say that my mother invested much on me. So, I never ask money from her when I was graduated from university and becoming a worker. However, I have just called her and I asked her to borrow money on this morning. She said 'yes'. But she asked me why I don't borrow my boyfriend? I feel sad about this. I really don't want to borrow money from my mother. So, I feel uncomfortable. I feel sad. But I can't do anything. I need money quickly. How about you? Have you ever been in this situation? How do you feel?

Hi there Tk! I am the youngest child and i have no shame asking money from my mother hehehehe! She never complains about it either way. If she asks 1k from me as a donation to a needy relative, i not only give her 1k, i give her 10k! I so love my mom!

hello tkonlinevn, When i started my business i did not withdraw any single penny from my account my mom offer me her money at first i don't want to but since she is my mom and willing to lend me some why not? after 3 months i pay her up to the last cent . It is natural they will ask why you need money or why you don't borrow from someone else don't be sad about that what important is they are willing to lend you have a nice day!

Maybe you're right. I was sad because my mum seems doesn't want to lend me. Maybe she thought that I won't pay her. Because children usually ask their parents money and never pay. This is seem natural here.

If I have money, I only want to give her. It's sad that I don't have enough. Now, I must borrow her!

Don't feel bad about it. I also borrow money from my Mother at times even from my younger sister, father and brother. However, it's fine with them. I don't feel uncomfortable because I always make sure I pay them back. Another thing is because when they are also the one who needs money I also let them borrow from me but most of the time I don't let them pay anymore. I also give my mother, father, sister and brother money sometimes when I have a lot of extra coming from my bonuses and incentives. I was brought up with a thinking that as a family we should always be there for each other always especially in times of need.

Well, it's just but natural to sometimes need an emergency loan from our parents. We always do that to our parents, specially when it was tuition time for our daughter during her College days. We would borrow from my parents and would pay it when our bonuses arrives. Just make sure though that you pay it back, so next time you could borrow again.

I'm sure that I'll pay for her. However, this is not natural with my mum. I have never done that. M

I understand what you're feeling, but I'm assuming that it is some sort of emergency and I think your mom is ok with that. She wouldn't say yes otherwise. So feel grateful that your mom was able and willing to help you out, instead of feeling sad. I have had to ask my mom to lend me money too. And she helped me when I really needed. WHen I paid her back I felt very grateful both for my mom and for the fact that she was in a position to help me. Just recently my daughter had a small car problem and asked me for help as well, and I was glad that I could help her and make sure she was safe while driving on the road. We always help the ones we love as long as we can, and that's ok :)

Sometimes, as much as it may be difficult to do so, we might have to turn to them. over the last years, I have been at university, getting my undergraduate. I have to admit that I have turned to my parents a lot for help. I have been receiving a student loan from the government, but it was not enough. It covered rent, bills, and very little else. I have felt bad to ask for their help, but if I didn't, I probably wouldn't have been able to get food and other things like that. I didn't like it, but I don't feel that I had other options.

I have borrowed money from my mom and have done it for a few time already. I don't feel uncomfortable nor feel sad about it for I know that she will really lend me some of her savings. There are really times in my life that I don't have enough money to spend with my needs that is why I borrow from her. But I do make sure I return the money on the said date that I will return it. My mom does understands though, she knows my standing in life and she knows that I will always return the money and even give her some when I have more saving from my salary.

This is common in my family. If I borrow money from the father or mother, I have to return unless there is a problem I can not return, the parents will not force me to return it. Often the loans turned into a gift. At the beginning of the loan, I can return the loan in installments but I finally quit mortgage installments and the rest of the money I requested as a gift from parents to children. Yet later in the end what is owned by the parent will belong to me too when they pass away.

Yes, I have borrowed money from my mum once. And I said I'd pay it just the same. Well, she seems to have forgotten it, but, I said I'd pay around Jan. of 2011. I intend to really pay it, but I'm still a bit short. So, maybe while she hasn't notice that I haven't paid yet, I'll keep mum about it. I'll pay when I have extra cash.

I believe that she loaned you the money because she cares for you and as long as you pay her back she will never have an issue doing so. I don't have a mother to borrow from, but would gladly loan my kids money if they needed it.

Borrowing money from your mum is just a natural thing to do. Any mum would give money anytime to their own children rather than letting them borrow it from the loan shark. Maybe it was just an unexpected thing for your mum when you asked her for money as you have not done so since you started working. Or it could be that she thought you are borrowing it for your boyfriend's use, that's why she asked you why you didn't borrow it from your boyfriend. I guess she needs some confirmation on why you needed the money. Don't worry too much. Maybe an explanation will clear some misunderstanding. And just tell her that you will pay her back once you have the money.

Yes, I did borrow money from my mom. There are just those situations that you can't avoid where your earnings just isn't enough at that time. When a sticky situation happen, I can always depend on my mother for it, no one cares for you more but your family.

I have never borrowed money from my mom before. I only borrow from banks or sources of the nature. I do not like to borrow from people I know because they need their money too. I know what you mean though.

I had borrowed money to my mother, I actually really embarrassed doing this, but I had to do it. I am very ashamed, because I was married, and it shall not ask for money to my mother.

I have never had to borrow money from her. I did have her co-sign a loan for me, and I felt bad about that. The loan is almost paid off and she never had to make any of the payments, but she was probably worried that she would.

I did borrow money form my parents to buy a condominium. I were thinking the same as you too. As a son of my parents, I should not burden them anymore since they paid me so much for me to complete my study at oversea. Moreover, they did pay me a certain sum of money as part of the down payment to my condominium. However, I did repay them the money I borrowed without imposing any interest, in the shortest period I could. ha! ha! ha! I felt good and lucky because my parents could afford to lend me a big sum of money without any interest. If I didn't repay them, they never ask for too.

I used to have 5 siblings, too, but I never borrowed money from my mother since I hadn't the habit when I was a kid.My parents invested very much on me indeed, but if I had to use money,I asked them for help, not borrowed, and I did so only twice---I separately had to buy a electric cooker and a recorder because my salary was extremely low when I began to work. After I got married,I've never asked my mum for money.
