Do you eat apple with salt?

April 26, 2011 3:16am CST
Whenever i get sick, eating apples helps take away that awful feeling when you're sick in bed. My mother would give me sliced apples and i would dab it in salt. for me and my family, it's a perfect food combination. but when i told about in school, my friends laughed and said that's just plain weird. i was surprised that not everyone does this. i found out that there are very few people i know aside from my family who eats apples with salt. how about you? do you eat apples with salt too? =)

hi madmarycash14... I just hear it from you. I think it's freak because apple taste sweet so it doesnt need salt to combined. But, after you add salt, how does it taste? Fruit with additional salt suitable for young manggoes and pineaples, it make fruit taste better

yum.. my sister and i put peanut butter on bananas but i want to try that with apples. maybe it's like those chocolate-coated apples or the caramel apples they sell in sweet shops.

I like peanut butter and bananas on wheat toast. I also like almonds with bananas. Carmel apples are a must for Halloween!

I've never eaten apples with salt before. Besides eating them because they taste good and are god for you and eating them when your stomach is upset. Is there a reason why they are eaten with salt?

No, I have not tried this. I don't know whether adding salt to the apple will make the apple more tasty, but I can't eat apple with salt. I used to cut the apple in to pieces and add honey to the pieces and eat them. This time I will try eating the apple with the salt.

When the apple is a bit sour, yes, I eat it with a bit of salt. We Filipinos eat anything sour with salt or anything salty. I once dipped slices of green apple in patis (salty fish sauce) and I ate some with bagoong (salty shrimp paste). It was weird but it was really good!

Nope in fact I don't like apples much unless there mixed in a pie or a fruit salad, but I never liked raw apples straight from the tree or bag so as for eating them with salt nuh lol, but I would eat them with caramel instead.

That's interesting But come to think of it, the apples that we have here can be a little sour and I like to put a little salt in any food that tastes sour -- pineapple, green mangoes, etc. I think I will have to try apple with salt one of these days. By the way, I like eating apple with cheese. Have a nice day!

I tried that once too and it is delicious. I never thought that it would taste like that, so once in a while I do that.. But I have not done that recently. I shall try it again, it's just very delicious..

Hi madmarycash14, I eat apple with salt all the time. I am not a big fan of apple but whenever i eat apple, i sprinkle some salt over it after cutting it into pieces. I also like eat vanilla ice cream and roasted apple as dessert. My hubby needs apple everyday because he always on the run. Sometimes he relies on single apple for his breakfast. He doesn't like salt on apple though!

I think that's pretty weird, but I eat honey with cheese so I can't say much in the way of weird. And my friend eats green onions with salt. THAT's weird.

I've never heard of eating apple with salt but I do occasionally eat watermelon, cantaloupe and honey dew with salt because it seems to bring out the flavor of the fruit more.

Hi. madmarycash14. Welcome to myLot! Yes, I always eat my apples with salt as well. I use lite salt onto my apples. My kids loves them this way too. I have been eating apples of every kind and color with lite salt on it for a very long time. It is very delicious too. I don't think that eating apples with salt on it is weird, I think that it is very unique.

Yeah that is the first time I heard of that habit. I only know how to eat unpeeled apples but not with any other condiments.
