I'm a bit excited over the new concept NBC has created!!! It's a new reality show called "The Voice". Yes, it's another talent show...WITH A TWIST!!!
The judges are Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton & Adam Levine who are all well established in the particular genre!!! How does this show differ from American Idol or America's Got Talent you might ask??? America doesn't get to vote during the competition. The judges are seated with their backs to the stage when the contestant enters. They cannot see them thereby not able to have a preconceived mindset as to who & what they will be!!! As the saying goes...you ONLY get ONE chance to make a first impression. These contestants chance at their first impression is to basically sing for their supper!!! The judges can ONLY listen to the contestant & then they decide if they would be interested in being a mentor & aiding them in their quest to become famous!!! If two or more accept the same contestant, then it is up to the contestant to choose which star "they" feel can best help in furthering their career. The show nor the judges are offering instant success...instead, they are offering to guide them into a career!!! I still don't understand the full process, but it sounds like something I could follow without feeling stressed because my favorite didn't win. It appears to be a sincere attempt at helping to jumpstart a new talent's career & I'm willing to give it a chance until I can see otherwise!!! It's coming up against the results show of Dancing With The Stars. I must say...since the star being voted off has already been determined that I can skip it because my watching won't change a thing!!! What are your thoughts about "The Voice"???

I never did like the concept of the audience voting--so many people vote because of physical appearance or charisma, not talent. Although I don't watch any talent shows (I skip through DWTS just to see some of the dances, though) I think this one sounds fairer than the others and we might see some genuine talent as a result.

hello! This certainly does sound better than other talent shows. Recently, I have been stressed out because the audience doesn't vote for the best talent, but based on the contestant's charisma and popularity. I hope this show will air in my country soon!

I don't always agree with the audience "vote off" & I seldom agree with the judges "vote off"!!! I like the idea of the contestant having to "work" toward their goal. In my mind, this show is like sending them to college!!!
I know it was a network teaser, but they showed a segment of the show after my local news last week & I really like the premise!!! I fully expect it to lose it's appeal after a period of time like most shows as most "reality" shows lose the reality & try to control how & what we, the viewers, think!!! I enjoy the talent on American Idol. However, I'm beginning to notice how they work at controlling the viewer & the little things they do to get their least favorite contestant voted off!!! I'm seeing "The Voice" as something new & refreshing for atleast a little while!!!!

Hey happy...
I'm hoping this one will be interesting enough that I can replace Idol!!! I've been feeling increasingly frustrated with Idol over the last several years. Unless NBC is just overselling this show, I'm going to give it a chance to show me what it has to offer!!! Tonight will be the first time the judges hear the first of the contestants. I think there will be 2 nights of auditions, with tonight being the first. IF any of the commercials are correct, they will be showcasing some REALLY GREAT talent!!! I don't know the criteria of when American shows are taken abroad, but I'd definitely check it out when it gets there!!!!

I watched DWTS because I was worried about Ralph Macchio's fate after that fall Karina took (which I don't think is fair because they are judging the celebrity, not the professional dancer). Thankfully he was saved.
I caught the second hour of The Voice. Interesting concept. Not sure whether it will hold up to all the hype and its competitors (American Idol, America's Got Talent and other shows that have fallen by the wayside). Blake Shelton was involved in a singing show a couple of years back called "Clash of the Choirs" or something like that. I really liked that show but it never came back.
I'm surprised Christina Aguilera has time to do a television series.

I like Ralph & agree he shouldn't have been sent home due to Karina's accident!!! I thought he handled that situation MUCH MORE professional than Karina did!!! I didn't watch any of it as the outcome had already been decided & my watching was NOT going to change a single thing!!! I was upset the next morning to learn that Chris was sent home. I thought he did extremely well considering he had NO previous dancing experience!!! It appears to me that Hines may very well take the Mirror Ball ...UNLESS...Romeo sneaks up & snatches it out of his hand!!!

Tonight will be the 1st night it will be on steph. I'm interested in seeing it from day one & watching it develop from infancy!!! I have high hopes that it will be a great show, but I have been disappointed before!!! The ONLY way to find out is to watch it!!!!

Hi. LadyM....Ever since the whole reality show business started up I've not been a huge fan. I occasionslly watch the Idol and DWTS mainly because I didn't like what was on the other channels. One season I really got into the America's Got Talent and actually voted for the ventroliquist that eventually won. But if they all went off the air tomorrow, I don't think I'd be crying. I might give this one a look-see but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Sounds like fun to watch. the only thing missing would be the candour that Simon Cowell brings to these types of shows. These shows need the honesty and cringeworthy television that come hand in hand with these nasty little put downs.
Lets be honest, they can be very funny at times!

ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!! I HATED Simon on Idol!!!
I believe you can have honesty WITHOUT cringing!!!
Anyway, where did I say it's going to be all peaches & cream??? Personally, I can see one of the star judges telling one of their contestants what they need to do & as usually happens, they don't listen. The mentor gets really ticked off with the mintee & the fireworks starts!!! They could add in a firing. There are soooo many different aspects of scenarios that can happen & hopefully keep it exciting!!! This a new & inventive idea here & they can take it anywhere they decide to in order to mix it up!!!

I've seen the first 2 weeks now. It has been interesting to watch them deciding who to choose & who to pass!!! I really like that they are honest enough to say you just don't have what I'm looking for WITHOUT being nasty!!! I can see a few possible pitfalls, but I'm enjoying it so far. Next week begins the elimination of half of those chosen & that will tell me more about whether I'll enjoy the show or not. Up to this point, I'm finding it very refreshing!!!!
I've also seen some outstanding talent!!!!
