Well even though they have cancelled my health insurance I am going ahead with my gall bladder surgery. I was going to have it next friday, but my surgeon said the sooner the better so I am having it done this monday. So in 2 days I will no longer have a gall bladder. I am a bit nervous because I have never had any major surgery before. The only time I have seen an operating table is when I had my c-section with my daughter a few months ago. My body has been through a lot in the past couple of months, so I am hoping that I am still able to recover quickly, since I have just healed up from my c-section. And I know that I have to take it easy for a couple of weeks, so I am trying to get everything done that I can this weekend so that I have things caught up. I am also nervous about how well I am going to be able to take care of my daughters. I have a 3 year old and a 3 month old. It is defiantly going to be challenging, because my husband has to work at least two days this week so I will be alone to do it all myself. My mom has to work, and so does my sister-in-law but I know they will come down when they can. So I've been trying to keep myself preoccupied so I don't dwell on all the negatives of having this surgery, I try to think of the positive that I will not have this kind of pain any more. So I am hoping that everything goes well, and that I can figure out away to keep things in order in my house, and my girls taken care of. Have you ever had surgery? Where you nervous about having surgery?

I have never had any sought of surgery before, but i can tell how you feel about it. Yes, i know the next obvious question would be how the hell does he know. I have had loved ones that went through what you are about to go through soon. The nervousness is expected but just put your trust in God and beleive that it is just a passing phase. Just as you rightly said, dont dwell on the negatives of the whole thing but just be positive. you will be alright, I promise u. I wish you well.

I have had major abdominal surgery three times, a hysterectomy following ovarian cancer, an hernia on that incision five years later, and then another surgery that was supposed to repair a fistula but only resulted in a colostomy because they found too much cancer and other problems with the colon. All three were on the same incision. I am recovered from the last surgery now, but I spend most of my day laying around on the computer. I am always nervous about surgeries because they always find something unexpected and it has always taken longer to get out of the hospital than what they expected. I think in my case, the fact that I was cut from my belly button to my pelvic bone in each instance contributed to my being unable to get up and walk as fast as they would have liked so I wound up getting pneumonia the first two times. This time they gave me an epidural so I didn't have as much pain, but it still wasn't easy to get up walking. Are there maybe people from your church (if you go to one) or some other social activity you are involved in that might be able to help you out during the day when your family members aren't able to help you out? It would not be good to be alone for at least the first week after surgery until you know how well you will be able to do things. I wish you luck with your surgery and hope everything goes well for you!

I have had several surgeriies in my life, but I have always had some help. When I had the last big surgery, a histerectomy, I went to stay for the first 5 days at my daughter´s home. Even though she worked, she had a helper at home for some hours so I was not alone nor had to make food for me or for the rest of the people at home. I suggest you freeze enough food to last you for the first days (remember you will need a diet) and try to get someone from your church or neighbour to help you a bit. Take care! The gall bladder surgery is not a dangerous thing but when you have to take it off it has to be done.

Yes, I had major surgery (removal of the bladder, &c) a couple of months ago. Yes, I was hellava nervous before the surgery but it was all over before I knew anything about it and it was a little uncomfortable for a bit afterwards but really nothing like I had imagined and everything was under control and I was home in 7 days (as predicted). I hope that everything goes well for you and that you can get the rest you need afterwards. You managed with a 2 and a half year old and a C-section, so you should be able to cope with this one! All the best to you!
