Have you ever written a thread on Mylot that you thought was a good topic for discussion but it failed to get any replies whatsoever? How do you rectify the situation? What makes a good thread to you? Do you think some people receive more attention to their threads not due to content but because of the amount of "friends" they have on Mylot?

Some of my discussions got very few responses or no responses at all. I thought that the topic was interesting, but I guess the other members didn't share my opinion I think that there are many reasons why some discussions get few responses. It is not just the topic, it also matters when you post it and where (which interest) you post it. If I start a discussion about a topic that many people are able to relate to or a topic that is relatively easy to write about I tend to get many responses. If my topic is very specific I often get few responses. I think that the number of friends makes a difference. It is not the only important thing and sometimes new members with few friends get many responses, but you often get more attention if you have many friends. Many people focus on the discussions that their friends have started, and if you have many friends many people will receive the notifications when you start a new discussion.

At first, when you are just new here, and you don't have enough friend to be notified with your post, you will see that happen. It happens from time to time. But as you gain friends here, everytime someone start a topic, all the friends are notified. So, if you have hundreds to thousands of friends here, it is really impossible your newly started thread will got zero reply.

I had lots of zero's! That's part of life here. What you post doesn't matter so much as when you post, in my experience. If you watch how many new discussion come within one hour, you'll get the idea. Often it is less than ten per hour, and if most of those have got zero responses, you know not to post! Then look at the new posts again, not very good English? All God, Jesus and Christian stuff? Forget it, come back later. After a while you come to recognize those members who do reply regularly. Watch for them to come online, then make your post!
