A movie that can provoke emotions in me....and not just a movie about fighting and killing, and war, and sexy ladies too. Not a movie filled with great CGI effects but no good story at all. Where are the movies like Forrest Gump, Toy Story, Life is beautiful.. ??

Hey urbandekay I love the Passion of Christ.. IMy eyes were so red from crying s hard upon seeing that movie.. Mel Gibson did such a god job in directing and James Caviezel portrayed the role of Jesus well.

That was a superb movie although maybe one of the most violent movies I´ve seen. The was that I felt that it could happen over and over again.

Children of Heaven- Its an Iranian movie that is nominated for Oscars, This movie is about shoes but its going to make you think how fortunate you are. It has a SIngaporean remake titled Homerun. Then there is a movie about the dog Hachiko, Its based from a true story, if you want the real story watch the Japanese version. There is a hollywood remake but it has Caucasian actors so its kinda unrealistic for the story. Winky's Horse- About a little Chinese girl who lives in Holland, she will make friends with an injured horse.

The suits are afraid to risk the money. Back in the day , movie moguls Werer exactly that, Movie moguls. Now movie companies are owner by other non film companies. They do not care about art. Or sending a message through film. All they want is to make the most money on the opening weekend. So they gear the films to 13 year old boys. They are the group who will go see a film 5-20 times! Plus these type of films are easy to ship overseas, where they can make even more money.Forrest,Toy Story and others were risks that worked. There would be more if the suits Still had the b@lls to say. : I don't care if this doesn't make money! This film Must be made!" thankfully there are still independent film makers. Sadly you have to search out where these films are showing.

Yes, people these days just want to make more money and make attractive trailers that target those teens..good thing there are independent film makers out there that make art..but their movies aren't that easy to find.

Yes, I agree, most movie these days focus on all the actions scenes, blowing things up and just the special effects.. some of them don't even have intelligent lines and a great story.. But some Filipino movies are still good.

I love watching movies too. A movie that has something more to say that the place or the lead actor or actress. I like movies like Another Boleyn Girl Sleeping Dictionary The Book of Eli The Partition 300 And a lot more. i am also choosy when it comes to movies unless my kids suggest a good animation

It has been a while since i have seen a movie that truly touched me and moved me like forrest gump or a Beautiful Mind. i know these movies still have to exist. Seeing more of them is what a cinematic experience can be all about.

Here in india we have movies in so many indian languages, most are action packed, have rape scenes etc, they attract good croud in cinema halls, the movies from which one can learn some thing good are no more To be honest I watched the last movie in our cinema hall some 30 years ago, there are no cinema hall now here in my city, some times i watch old indian hindi movies only, in home using DVD player, that is as per my choice Thanks for this discussion Cheers. God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .

hi! I also look for movies with good storylines. I am tired of watching action movies and movies with CGI effects. I think they just give us temporary thrills, but nothing more. Try watching 3 idiots (Bollywood). It has one of the best stories I watched. You'll defintely learn a lot from it! "It's Kind of a Funny Story" is also good, as well as The King's Speech and even "He's just not that into you". The last one is a Romantic Comedy, but it's realistic and relatable. :)

Lots of people here had recommended "3 idiots" too- definitely going t check it out once there's a dvd available. I've always wanted to watch "he's just not that into you" too, since most of my favorite actors are there..is it like Love Actually and those intertwined love stories?

Try watching Facing the Gints. It's all about life's ups and downs. It is such an inspirational movie. One of my favorites. Also, you can try 17 AGAIN. Starred by Zac Efron. I just think that it teaches a life lesson to its viewers. :D
