What A Day!

It's been all go, especially with Mum. She had an accident at work (nothing too serious) which means she will be having Friday off, much to her amusement as it will be chaos without her in the kitchen. The reason being, there are two others off as well, one with knee cartilage problems, the other is looking after her hubby after an operation he's just had. Therefore, the awful woman "in the office" is running around like a blue-a*sed fly trying to get staff in. If they hadn't got rid of the Assistant Cooks there would be no problem..but they did, so they have lol. As Cath (the lady with the knee problem) said to Mum on the phone, "They might take you more seriously from now on!" Also, the Union guy has told Mum that she has an extremely good case for Unfair Dismissal, especially when someone in Social Services WANTS to retire at 65 but isn't allowed to do so. They can't have one rule for one person and another rule for someone else. Mum will go back in on Monday as she's not the type to "milk" it. No doubt there will be stories of woe but at least it brings home the fact that Mum is REALLY good at her job. Age doesn't come into it. Getting rid of her would be a mistake and I think they're starting to realise it now. Anyway, you may have noticed I've been a bit quiet on the computer. This is down to my email address being "compromised" so I couldn't log in. Apparently, the free Avira anti-virus I have (or had) on my computer has let in a Trojan that McAfee from BT has now got rid of. Luckily, my bank account hasn't been hacked or anything so I'm relieved about that. Later on today (Friday) I have to ring up BT to have my email re-set which is quite funny really because we're defecting to Sky in the middle of this month. At least I managed to get that parcel off to my Ebay buyer, so that was a relief finally getting rid of it!

Ok, I'm confused, if your mom has a job, what is this about unfair dismissal?

She has a case for unfair dismissal based on her age. Today she even received a copy of a letter they claimed to have sent her in February..and Mum reckons they have "doctored" it to show the 6 months in advance time-frame. She's adamant the original didn't have this..and once they send her the letter they are frightened of sending her, she's going round in circles. And my brain hurts!

Now your Mum can breathe freely.During her absence from kitchen, they make a mull of their work.Only by comparing can one distinguish. Union guy will surely set store by your Mum here after. For your Mum part, getting rid of her may no doubt cast a shadow on her mind though she is the type to submit to adversity meekly.

Yes, I reckon Friday would be a very busy day because the accident happened to Mum really early in the morning, before everyone else was due in. Therefore, she had to be taken to hospital to get her wound dressed on her leg leaving Lorraine in the office to take care of getting more staff in. It didn't help, of course, that others were off too but that's not Mum's fault..just circumstances.

Nothing like having to take time off to emphasize how important you are. I hope your mom was not hurt too badly. Sorry about your computer being 'compromised' I am glad you are getting it taken care of.

Thanks. I now have a problem with Outlook that I have experienced before but that will get sorted in due course. As for Mum, she's ok and is going back to work on Monday.

Sounds like a good ending to a few events that is for sure. I hope your mom is okay after the accident and that she can rest tomorrow. Gee what is going on with so many computers recently being compromised. I have this from at least 6 members this week. Have a wonderful Friday Janey.

I know what you mean. My bank account got hacked over Christmas and now this with my email. I have had said email for years with no problems and for BT to blame my Avira security is a bit rich. Why didn't BT contact me about their McAfee software that can be installed for zero charge? When I contacted them that's what I was told to do but why wasn't I told to do it when we first got BT Broadband about 6 years ago lol.
