Making and selling cards

I have been busy making cards as the owner of the campground where my kids and I have our camper wants to sell them in the lodge. At first I thought...well maybe not. But the longer I thought about it I realized it might be a good market especially for birthday cards etc so the campers don't have to drive all the way into town if they forget a card for someone at the campgrounds. So I am going to bring about 30 cards down next weekend. Have you sometimes found an out of the way place to sell your crafts?

Wow Jill, that is super fantastic!!! What a lucky break for you! How did the owner know you did cards? I know when I went camping, we would go for 1 or 2 weeks at a time. I always sent postcards from there to various people and especially to the person who was watching my cats at that time. I would also buy them a gift to thank them. Maybe you can spread out your greetings a little bit more. In other words, I would make a couple thank you cards, and would it be possible to make cards that say "greetings from...name of campground" type stuff, having a great time, miss you, etc. Just a couple of each to see how they do. Does that sound like a good idea to you? I haven't been doing much in the way of crafts lately. I have a couple medical problems I need to clear up and then I can concentrate on fun stuff. And yes, I did find a place that I like alot to bring my crafts too. It's known, but not well known and they carry crafts and antiques. That's right up my alley and the prices are extremely reasonable, even for the antiques. Really cute place and cozy. Good luck to you and I wish you the best!!

I also make cards, what with having a large family it is easier to make the cards for all ages as well as for all occassions in advance, that way none of us have to worry about not having a card when it is a persons birthday.I also have friends that ask me for a card as well as to personalise them with names, as well as ages on.Also my husbands friends have my cards as well.It is a good feeling when the same people keep saying where they get their cards from and then other people ask for you to make some for them, as they are hand made, which makes them more personal to the person that is getting them.Good luck.

I think this is a great idea. My camping experience is very limited but know something is always forgotten when it's time to pack. Who would think to pack greeting cards to take along for a weekend or longer? Hope you do extremely well selling your cards at the campgrounds. I have been thinking about consignment shops as a place to sell my crafts but am only in the "think" mode. Would probably be better to try to sell on Craigslist or E-bay. My problem is, I think about selling my crafts but never do anything about it. Duh, on my part.

The good thing is that everyone hangs out together at the campgrounds so when a birthday etc comes up ...they will be there just waiting for them to buy! LOL...I got 40 ready....then today a lady gets ahold of me and needs 10 birthday cards by monday....and I will be gone all weekend...fortunately I got three done already. Good luck with finding some motivation to sell your crafts! They are soooooo adorable!

That's great! I bet you will sell a lot of them. I love homeade greeting cards. I used to make them as well but haven't made a whole lot of them since my son was born. Just haven't had much time to do them lately. When I used to send out homeade cards everyone would always say how much they loved them. I really need to start making some again and sending them out to people. I hope you do good with selling them at the campground.

Hi jill!!! I think that's a great idea! You have to seize that opportunity. It's knocking on your door.^^ Good luck! I remember when I was in college, I was so into drawing then. I liked drawing anime characters. I was addicted to it.^^ I made coloring books and I sold them to my friends. When I got busy during my last year in college, I stopped making them. I don't make them anymore. I still have my old drawings until now but I threw away some of them already. Cheers.

I design personalized calendar and have selt it on taobao. But businees is dull. Maybe because calender is not often used, and people only buy when new years come. And now little people buy it. I have selt cross-stitch on tabao. it sells better than personalized calender, but businees is also dull. There are so many shops selling cross-stitch on tabao. So the competition is stiff. Business is difficult. So until now, I have not found a practial method tp sell my products. Maybe I can go to a university to sell these.. Set up a temporary stall to sell.

I think it is a great idea! Not only could you make some money off of the sale of your cards at the camp grounds, but it could set you up for some sales further down the road from the people who do purchase your cards there. They could always look you up down the road and purchase more cards or other crafts from you.

A friend of mine is a painter and she has produced some cards showing local views. I have a selection here and we sell quite a number to our volunteer guests. It's handy having greetings cards close to hand.

Hiya Jill, Great idea that one Jill as there are not many Cards around sometimes when you want a good one. Over where I am they are most often "funny Cards" that are not even funny but silly yes. Would make a welcome change to find a Card like that one love it. If you were over here and on the Coast oh well here as well almost right by where I am living now you would probably find a good spot here to sell your Cards too. Loads of British and American Tourists here in July and August oh and a biggest part of the Summer too. You will make a lot of sales I am sure and hope so.xxx

Hi Jill- I have never been this creative but..... Our tax/accounting firm is owned by a family and extended family. During tax season especially their children are selling Girl Scout Cookies and candy for another nonprofit childrens organization. The display them on the front desk and never push anyone to buy them. We all enjoy supporting nonprofits especially when they give our children direction. I think you would be sending some important lessons to learn if you do this. You care about your childrens endeavors and so do we. I think they will see some success doing this. Just make sure you tell the customer what they will be supporting when they buy. Rockefeller always said they way he does business several words he lived by: One of them being-Always buy anything a child is selling. He also said, a friend based on business is better than business based on friendship.

I love the handcrafted greeting cards. I love all handcrafted items and try to support the artists who make the crafts as well. I make handcrafted beaded jewelry so I try to support other artists whenever I can. Have you thought about selling online on Etsy or Ebay. I prefer Etsy as it is a website for handcrafted items only. you should check it out. It is very reasonable to get started and easy to do.

hi jillhill oh me I had no artistic genes at all but I can write lol not that anyones eager to buy my writing.you have the flair and I can believe that they will sell as a lot of people including me love handcrafed items. I have a six dollar necklace that has garnered a zillion compliments made in Africa by very talented African women embarked on a project to get themeselve out of poverty.Walmart should be ashamed to sell those for just six dollars.none are alike. I believe you will sell a lot of your cards.I think thats a great market and people on holiday are always looking for things to take home and these are practical as well as cute too.
