is germs and bacteria are the same? but we need bacteria too.... i choose Good Bacteria needed and helping us for food digestions..... lactu bacillus since there are two types of bacterias - the good and the bad bacteria.

Bacteria is just a type of germs. Under germs there are -viruses -fungi -protozoa.

In my country street vendors are regularly inspected by the Health and Safety authorities. They have to abide by the same standards of cleanliness as any restaurant and, if they don't, they very quickly lose their livelihood. I don't know what standards are like in the Philippines. Probably, if I were visiting and were tempted to try street food (which I would certainly want to do), I would wait around the stall, watching the vendors for some time before I could trust them to be careful and hygenic. If I couldn't see a place for washing hands or if I saw that the food (especially meat) was not covered, I would look for another stall which appeared to be better run.

good to your country, but mine country hopefully there's an inspector to inspect the street vendor, sometimes it hard to buy a foods for them, cos you didn't know where did it come from, what kind of ingredients they used on it.

We have extremely strict health standards in my country in regard to the preparation and sale of food. Hands must be washed regularly as required, gloves must be worn and money and food must not be handled by the same hands. We don't have street vendors like you do in your country but if you attend an outdoor event it is likely there will be food available from a specially set up van or a stall where meat is cooked for sausage or steak sandwiches. Strict rules apply here too but they are not so vigilantly checked. Bottom line is, no one wants there customers to get food poisoning so generally, all care is taken.

Street food sure is not safe. We just don't know where these foods are bought from and how is was prepared. there are so many diseases that we can get from it and it's hard to heal these kinds of diseases like hepatitis or amoebiasis. it's better if we don't regularly eat this and if we do, we should know and make sure its clean.

Street foods or hawkers are actually not hygiene. The plates or the bowls they use are not properly washed because lacking of the basic facilities at those hawkers or street foods center. However, we are still willing to eat those foods because those foods are cheaper, better taste and different eating appetite. If there are more enforcement in the ways they prepare the foods, the eating environment and the management of the waste, I am sure those foods are definitely safe to consume at a right, proper place with good facilities.

I like them from time to time, just like a "fast food" site they are in many places here and there. Some time ago, I used to eat a hot dog or drink a cola from them in the train station when waiting, but there are really many other common options I would also try. They are pretty common, mainly in bus/train stations or at big recreational sites, like the riverside, they're a classic there. Actually very few are inspected and are "guaranteed" to have all hygienic measures to take care of food safety, most are on their own most times and don't really care about the food at all, as long as it tastes well. So far, I haven't any trouble with the safety of that, but I know that kind of food, while having a good taste, may be dangerous in some places.

I am not familiar to this type of street foods. The only thing that i think of when it comes to this is hotdog stands and some fresh sandwich carts that are out. And then when there are carnivals or fairs we have different food carts, like pizza, hot dogs, kielbasa, fries, and different sweet things.

I think if hot food is kept hot or all food is kept on ice until used it should be ok. If I see someone dishing something out of a holding tray in a water bath, I might not eat there. But if I see them take fresh food from proper holding trays and cook it right in front of you, those are the ones I prefer. I'm sure that anything that is cooked in front of you will be safe. If it has been sitting for any length of time, it might not be.

I've eaten street food all over the world and never got sick. If it looks clean, it probably is. In a real restaurant they can hind the filth behind a door. They frequently do. With street venders you see everything.

Although some of the food sold in the street tastes nice and delicious, i seldom buy from them. Because no matter how they covered the food but it is unable to stay away from dust or vehicle smokes. I prefer to buy from seller who is very clean, always make sure the food they are selling are always in clean condition as well. It is worth to eat clean food for our healthy sake. I usually buy food from food shop or stall that appear very clean with the food are pre-packed in clean condition.

It not a matter from where you bought food, but the important thing is you must be aware about the cleaning and hygenic condition of place from where you bought food.

hi, Street food can be fiund everywhere in my country.Been eating street food since i'm small though at that time ,i never thought much about food hygienic then. But now,it's different because sometimes it's not safe, the food are oily & not clean. There are ,of course some street hawkers served good and clean food. So,it's best we survey how the food are prepare, cook and serve before we try it out.Must keep our eyes open and make judgement ourselves.Goodluck.

I like to eat those street foods although it's not safe enough for me. Naturally, it's bad for your health because we're not sure enough what contained in there. Maybe, it has already been contaminated by smoke or other else. Well, I'm pretty sure that eating one of those can make you have stomachache.

Here in my country, Philippines, selling street foods is becoming an important economic activity as it feeds hungry millions and provides employment and income to 80 to 90 percent of the Philippine urban poor. While street foods are definitely cheap, they are mostly unhygienic as studies monitored by Department of Health have claimed. Cholera outbreak was caused by rice noodles (pansit) and mussel soup bought from street vendors. The outbreak of hepatitis A was attributed to eating fish balls (bola-bola) sold by street vendors. Training and other measures they said, will ultimately absorb street food vendors as participants in the urban food supply system. Doing so would make the provision of credit more accessible to vendors. This in turn will provide additional improvement and upgrading of street foods facilities.

I don't know if it is safe or now... They don't look safe actually but I like eating street foods. I like fish balls, barbeque and those kind of stuff. My mom usually tells me to avoid eating those. However, I just can't. Me and my co-workers, after work, would usually drop by a place where there are lots of street foods.
