20 Worst Breakfasts

United States
May 16, 2011 5:38pm CST
I just skimmed, if you can excuse the pun , the list of the worst breakfasts and all I could do was laugh. Everything the average person grabs for breakfast is on the list. From coffee to pancakes! I just laughed and shook my head. Why? Because I never have breakfast. If I eat too much too soon, I'm sick all day! While looking at this list, I thought of that person who Wants to eat right and then they see their beloved " healthy" cereal on this list! I wonder what they will do next? So I ask you , do you follow each new " healthy" guideline that comes up or do you just eat everything in moderation? Or are you like me, eat what you like when you like?

Oh... Sorry to hear that... Eggs are on the list.. Oh, maybe because of the cholesterol thing... Am I right??? The cholesterol chokes up the veins and gives heart attack... That's what I have read about it...

Back in the 80's They said Eggs are Bad. And then in the 90's They said Eggs aren't That bad and now they are back to being bad. this is another reason I ignore them and eat what I like.

Having a good breakfast is not an issue that is debatable. One does not have to read it in health magazines for one to know that having a good breakfast is good for health. Commonsense should tell us that. Now the question is what constitutes a good and healthy breakfast. Here again to each his/her own. As long as one knows which food is rich in proteins, iron, carbohydrates or which food increases one's HDL should decide the breakfast menu and ofcourse one cannot ignore the likes and dislikes of the one who has it.

What is HDL? For me Any breakfast will make me sick. I have to wait at keast 2 hours after I wake to eat. Most days it is at least 5 hours or more.

I'm not in any kind of a routine with my job where I'd have the same thing at the same time every day..I just play it by ear each day,so some days the first thing I'd take might be some fruit juice or coffee,or toast with tea, with maybe cheese spread on the toast,or banana,or peanut butter..other days I'd have eggs, either as an omelette,or scrambled, boiled,or poached,or just cereal on other occasions..If I'm feeling adventurous,it might be pancakes or waffles,or even a muffin I made..I don't do food fads..If I like it,I'll have it!

I had a good run very early in the morning, so I treated my self to a li'l bit more for today's breakfast - beef and vegetable cooked in coconut milk and shrimp paste. My toast and grapefruit will be saved for my snacks later. I think my veggie-beef stew also is not included in the list? (Well, of course it's an unusual menu for breakfast, but, I had packed my lunch and had some extra)

I used to skip breakfast, then a few years ago I started eating pretty much the same thing everyday. I have 1/2 cup cottage cheese and add whatever fruit I have on hand. Sometimes I end up with small amounts of 3 or 4 fruits. I always keep canned pineapple chunks (in their natural juices) and frozen blueberries in the freezer. The other day I used mangos and watermelon and to my surprise they were delicious. I have grown accustomed to this and have it every single day and never tire of it because I vary the fruit. The cottage cheese is naturally good for me but I do not like it plain. I do like it with cherries, bananas, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, actually any berries, grapes etc.. It's a quick easy "no thinking" healthy breakfast.

Hmmm..I guess I didn't answer the question so I'll try again. Worst breakfasts I have had in the past consisted of any kind of donuts, pastries. One Easter I had chocolate eggs for breakfast, just because it was Easter!! :( Now I have cottage cheese and fruit :)

I don't follow the healthy guideline because I believe that the balanced diet is the best. Namely you shall eat everything with a proper portion. So every morning I prefer different breakfast. The delicious taste is important. So our breakfast can be noodles, bread, toast, sandwiches etc. It is nice if we enjoy our breakfast and we will have energy to start a new day. I love China

I certainly don't follow every new healthy guideline..lol..I am pretty much like you. I eat what I like when I like. I do go in moderation. I try not to gorge myself. I don't really have a certain time or a certain thing...just when I get hungry. I guess dinner is the most planned meal..that's because of the girls though. If it were just me, I would just eat when I got hungry.

I heard somewhere that having a sit down dinner is good for kids. They do better in school . I think it is good that they get to be with their loving parents that does it. you can talk things over. So a planned dinner is Great!

Or are you like me, eat what you like when you like? I could very much relate to this, specially with this new job of mine. I think I'm having so much fun here (even myLotting!), that sometimes I forget all the health guidelines of what to eat, and eating on time. I get so busy with work that I only rely on my stomach to know when to eat. And when I get hungry, I eat whatever I like (there is a McDonalds a couple of buildings away from my office building)!

Thata Boy! If it is a couple buildings down and you have to walk , then it should be ok. The key is to get some exercise I believe. I am on my feet All shift long at my work so by the time I Do eat , I eat what I Really want. I must confess that I have cut down on sweets but in no way do I eat healthy and I have lost weight and kept i off!

Hi Sarahruthbeth, I am following a healthy guideline as I was too lean last year. And one reason is i dont take breakfast seriously and munch whatever i get or else skip it completely. So now I am on balanced diet, with regular milk, eggs, bananas and nuts. These keeping me at ideal weight in this 1 year. But still I do eat what i like sometimes no matter whats the time, especially though diary chocolates..tempting huh!!

Luckily I don't have to follow a diet because of health reasons. But if I were told to have breakfast by a doctor, I still wouldn't do it. Feeling sick Every morning Isn't worth it.

For almost three years now I eat very healthy and on occasion eat junk with moderation. I was not bit to begin with but finally got off the roller coaster dieting because I use to starve myself and could not stand it any longer. So I finally lifted my metabolism and dropped almost 70 pounds in the very first four months and have been able to keep it off for almost 3 years while eating 3 - 4 meals a day and healthy snacks also. I do get to enjoy "junk" per se several times a week and still maintaining my slim look. lol

I have cereal in the morning with semi skimmed milk and a glass of orange juice. Healthy eating brings it's rewards later in life, the human body will eventually break down if it's not looked after.

I eat what I want and when I want...for the most part. I do follow a low salt and cholestral diet as much as possible. Before long though there won't be anything good for us to eat!
