I stopped after work to pick up some deodorant at a drug store that is close to me. Well I pick a container out of the display and suddenly the two that were left behind it...shot out of the display, landed on the shelf directly below them and knocked about 15 more containers all over the floor. The worst part was the noise that it made when the spring let loose! Several other customers got a good view of all the containers laying on the floor at my feet! I was so embarassed! Has this happened to you? I think they might need to replace the spring..it's definately too tight! It also scared the beegeevers out of me!

It has happened so many times to me that I am no longer embarrassed. Seriously, frequently. Sometimes when I go into a shop I put my hands behind my back so as not to touch. As chldren, our mother made us do that. Stand with our hands behind our back so that we would not knock anything over or break something

Years ago if that happened I would have felt bad for a week. These days i would just say Oops! Smile and then start picking them up.

Oh how embarrassing...
I'm sorry, don't mean to laugh, but you described this so well, I almost feel like I was there with you..Of course if I was, I would turn and slowly walk away.
Naw, really I'd probably laugh with you and help you pick it up...
I have had bottle slam into the front, but never had anything fall to the floor..So, what did you do? Did you say anything???

Well I've dropped things and embarrassed myself, but I don't recall getting clobbered by a spring loaded display....

I truly hate those spring loaded displays. If I want to check something and pull it out of the shelf, I can never get it back in. I have to set it on top of the other ones.
I have dropped many things before. It is embarrassing, most especially when you put something back that fell, thing falls again with other items, and you pick them up and more fall down.

Now when I drop something in the store, I walk quickly away to avoid the whole shelf coming down on me! I do not mean to be rude, but goodness, I do not want to stand in an isle for an hour trying to put things back that never will stay put anyway.
How do those people stock the shelves so the stuff doesn't fall out on them, yet it falls on me all the time?

Oh, I hate when this happens. It has happened to me several times, and even one time one place where I was working in loading sodas, etc. I think sometimes it could be that the springs are too tight, and not wanting to hold everything properly like they should. Problem becomes with $$ etc. to check everything and replace them when they need too, or get them fixed if they can.

I would have been so embarrassed also with people looking at what just happened in front of me, without knowing what truly caused it. I have had stuff like that happen to me also.

Aww, I'm happy to hear it didn't get you in the face! But, I have to say the story is very funny and I can just picture it!
What I don't find amusing is the two women who were watching you and didn't at least offer some assistance. I would have surely came over, laughing all the way, and at least helped you pick them all up so you felt a little bit relieved and not so embarrassed. Shame on them. I would have made you laugh at this somehow seeing you were unharmed.
I do remember once waiting for my daughter by the dressing rooms once in a clothing store. I was getting bored and decided to just lean up against a rack of purses all in a row about 20' long. Yup, you got it,
, the whole rack which was about 50 purses came toppling down onto the floor...purses as far as the eye could see, LOL!!!
I can really laugh at that now and couldn't do too much to help out because the rack needed to be fixed, hahaha! I didn't pull on the rack, just leaned against it and boom, just like dominoes. I see some people here have had some good embarrassing moments too so I feel better.

Hi. jillhill. I have dropped items on the floor as I was taking an item off of the shelf too. It made me feel ashamed to know that I have dropped something by accident. Don't feel bad, accidents tend to happen. Just explain to the clean up crew what happened and let them know that it was not something that you have intended to, to happen. If anything they should be more concerned that you are okay and that you did not get hurt at all.

Yeah, there are certain displays I'm not crazy about at the stores.. especially the end cap displays. If I take a turn too tightly I can knock a ton of boxes right off the shelf! Then of course I have to take the time to pick them up.. and usually when I'm at the store I'm just in a hurry to get the heck out of there!

I hate those spring loaded displays! If you pull an item out to look at the label, you had better buy it because you will never get it back in. Sometimes there isn't room to put it back on top, so your stuck with it. I have bought a few things that I wasn't sure about because I couldn't get them back on the shelf. I don't like just putting merchandise on any shelf. I know myself I have seen items that I was interested in, but they were in the wrong spot so I didn't have any idea of the price. I also hate when things fall on the floor. I am handicapped and have trouble picking things up. If there is another customer near, I will ask them to pick it up.

Oh you poor thing! I think most of us have had this happen to us and yes, it's very embarassing but it happens. I usually stand there like something suprised the heck out of me - which it did! And then I keep that look while picking up the fallen stuff so that everybody will know that it was an accident that scared the marbles out of me! LOL

lol I do know what this is like. I have been in the grocery store and reach high for a cereal box when all of a sudden one fell and okay so I put it back and to my surprise many came tumbling down all over the floor. Causing several to stop look at me with a pause then laugh, though I too laughed with them I felt embarrassed at the same time.
But so glad it was not glass type items.

Yes, this has happened to me! The oddest one was the bag of cereal that fell off the top shelf at the grocery store. Dropped, busted and and scattered all over the place. To top it off my son works there and had to clean it up! He didn't get mad, he said it happens to everyone. I can attest to that. The worst is dropping a glass bottle. For the store the worst is when a customer trips over something left in the isle. So you're not the first and not the last. Believe me, everyone could empathise not blame.

luckily nothing like that has ever happened to me in a store. which is surprising considering i tend to be very klutsy at times.hope it never does happy but if it does atleast it will make a good laugh after the embarassment passes.
