I get a lot of Dear Sir/Madame we sell something in the US but we get money orders and checks. Will you cash them at your bank for us, so we do not pay tariffs? You can keep 10% The other scam is that someone has died with no heirs and they want to send it to me. (Why me). I think these both try to appeal to a desire to cheat. Don't rspond to either, report them as spam. A lot of people have lost money this way.

They seem to go in cycles, too. I get them for awhile, then I don't. I am on the "getting them" cycle again.

I got involved with the checks thing last year. I thought I had researched it enough; even talked on the phone to my sponsor. Long story short, they sent checks worth thousands of dollars, I cashed them at my bank, sent all but my percentage to the same two people in Russia. I did this for about 2 weeks and ended up finding out it was a scam and having to pay my bank back thousands of dollars; our life savings.
Please, please, don't fall for anything that sounds like it's too good to be true. Because the fact of the matter is, it is. I learned my lesson the hard way. I'm still married, though, which shows how much my husband loves me.
