Why it takes a woman so long to get dressed?

We understand that it takes a woman at least double the amount of time that it takes men to get dressed. However, the woman can spend close to an hour every morning dress up than a man. I don't understand why it takes them so long to get dressed? Do women have so many more body parts to cover that it takes them so much longer?

LOL you are a man..of course you don't understand why women take longer :) Now if you went through every step a woman takes, you would understand. Besides the hair and make up and trying on and sometimes changing outfits, there is additional work many women do that men don't.
Women typcically also clean up. They leave the bathroom neat and tidy. They make the bed and straighten out the room. That takes time too.

I am not that typical woman. It takes me about 5 mins to get dressed and then go to work. I would rather spend the time sleeping coz i am quite lazy.
I should say, women spend more time choosing the clothes and then get changing. Maybe after half an hour of choosing, they go back to the original one. That's what will happen.
In another case, make up is a headache also and it takes even longer time to accomplish that. That's what i am poor at and give up directly.

hm. I personally dress 1 hour. And chrissieatu is right- it takes usually much time to choose your outfit so that you return to your first choice and rush out with being late 10 minutes.
I don't think it's women thing, maybe it's a human thing) some people are like that and some aren't'.
My friend is waking up 2 hours before me to do her make up for each day. She looks great - i always thought she didn't use make up much, until she said me that it takes 2 hours each day. imagine to wake up at 6 hour at morning, when it's still dark outside to do your make up right and in detail.
I guess not everyone can do such sacrifice. I once saw her without makeup - it was weekend, she got to bring me some lecture notes quickly, and i nearly didn't recognize her. She wasn't ugly - but i wouldn't have noticed her in the crowd of other people. With makeup she is very eye catching(and i am saying it as a girl, imagine what are thinking the man there-)). When she is walking the street, comments like - did you see her, what a beautiful girl are always there. Young man turn and look after her. So i guess- it is worth it)
If you are choosing a beautiful women to court keep it in mind - she will always be late and she will spend minimum 2-3 hour on her appearance every day).

You're generalizing, and kind of exaggerating too. I don't know a single woman that can take that long to dress. I know dozens of women, and none of them take more than 5 minutes when it comes to dressing, so I wonder where did you get that idea from 
Maybe you were waiting for some woman who was awfully late and she used the excuse "I was getting dressed"?

haha that is always an issue with dad and me. whenever he tells us we will go to the mall he always wants me to take a bath first. cause even if i take a bath first and i have my mom, sister, and dad behind me im still the last one who goes out of my room, hahaha i dont know why either,. i just try this on, and when im not happy with it i'll try another one. until i get satisfied.. :)

Usually we have more to to do than you guys. More cloth, long hair takes more time, and makeup. My husband is the first one complaining every time we are going out. But, I always use to tell him: "Men always complain about the time it take us to get dress, but how much do you all like when you see us very chic, very stylish hitting the streets right? So let me be." He always smile cause he knows I am right.

Yes they got the Bra that needs to be Adjusted for Comfort. Men just Slip on a T Shirt. They some Times Wear Tighter Clothes and Need to Wiggle in to the Jeans, Dress or Skirt. They Wear Nylons sometimes and they need to Wiggle into Them. The Shoes and Outfit sometimes need to Match. They are Built a Little Different have Smaller Body Movement and they can't Flex the Legs like Men. This also Adds Time
to the Dressing Routine.

you cant generalize it, those women who wear skirt, pant or something like that take less time. but, yes if they have to wear traditional dress, then sure they will but in most cases women take time on make up than dressing. lol

I think the reason why women takes too long to get dressed is because we still have to put make up on, some accessories and have to be more meticulous with our faces and how we look before going out. To tell you the truth though, I don't dress up that long. I usually finish every thing after 30 minutes since I'm always in a rush. I stay up late and I seem to get up late as well, that's why putting make up on and all those other women stuff are not my forte. I try to look as presentable as possible every time I go to work. But if it's a pretty important occasion, it really takes long to prepare. It really depends on the person and on the occasion or day I guess.

Oh, no, I don't think all women dress too long. I can dress for less than six minutes but still I managed to look good at least in the eyes of my students, I have to act and dress fast in order not to be late in school because I don't want my students to be ahead of me!

I think i have an answer for this isss, vanity, thats all, we as man are very simple, we dress with no extras but women dress for everyone, thye want to be pretty, cute and sexy for all others, in a few words girls like to flurt!!! so much i think is something natural on them,
and girls do not have so mach body than man heheh usually they have little tinny dress, or miniskirt, so i really would like also why they take so long.

Actually most of the women think they should be look like a bold and beauty. So may be while doing makeup or dress well they takes so long time than men.
