Most girls - even boys are fond of putting make up on their faces. It's either to enhance beauty, or to cover up something. I had my first make up kit from my mom at the age of 13. She surprised me on my birthday by giving a Mary Kay Ash make up. What age were you when u had your own make up kit? and do you agree by giving these items can lift up the self-esteem of young girls? or do you disagree? pls. send your views :)

Hello Athengenre. Well most kids do want to experiment at an early age (some even at 5-6 years, others at 11-12 years old) but the real need of make up will usually come from 14 and up (well the real sentiment of need anyway). There are some, i don't know exactly how many that aren't to desperate over make up and only later get a make up kit. I recently went with my girlfriend to get her a make up kit some mascara, the works, for her to have for special occasions or for sometimes (but rare nut often) to get something sexy on for when i go over.

I have received my first makeup kit during my 18th birthday! :). It was given by my mom's boss at her work. My mom doesn't really want me to put makeup on my face and when I put some, she makes sure that I only use light colors. :) There is nothing wrong in wearing makeup as long as you do it for the right and good reason. I agree that some girls use these things in order to lift up their self-esteem. But when young girls are to wear makeup, I think they should do it with an adult supervising them. Sometimes, young girls are becoming too overwhelmed when they have their freedom in doing things. They can overdo their makeup without noticing it which is I think is inappropriate.

hi there, I have my first make-up kit when I was fifteen and on my senior year in high school. It was actully a set-up of make-up that my sister bought me from Avon.LOL! Oh I love Mary Kay Make-up! I love their foundation set. For me, it can give teens confidence. It also can lift-up ones self-esteem, it is more of woman's empowerment. But you know, putting make-up should be done beautifully. A simple make-up that freshens the face is what I like. Of course you want to still show your natural beauty especially if you are still a teen. Happy Lotting!

Hmm... I don't wear make-up... yes I am a girl... am I weird? =P I think 13 is too young, in any case. Hmm... I suppose make-up is needed for certain jobs - either it's expected, or it's required. So maybe, because of that, I'd say college - the latter part of it. Hahaha! I expect lots of people to disagree... =P

I was fourteen when I started wearing make-up. On my fourteenth birthday I asked my mom can I start wearing make-up. To my surprise, she allowed me to pick out my first tube of lipstick and an eyeshadow pencil. However, I don't feel that make-up can give a young girl self esteem. Self esteem should come from within by how you feel about yourself, not from a make-up kit. If a young girl wants to wear make-up at a certain age, that's fine; but how you view yourself should come way before you learn how to apply make-up. The reason why I'm saying this is because there are some beautiful people that wear cosmetics but have horrible attitudes and go some of the most ugly things to themselves and others. If you're going to be beautiful on the outside, then you need to be beautiful on the inside. One's attitude plays a big part in self esteem.
