Hi i'm gonna buy one digicam soon too. My uncle is the best person to ask - so even i took his advice and i'm not looking for a sony digicam. I was about to pay for a mustek cam but he refused so i think that is a big no no.

My preference is Nikon, I have the D3200 which gives 21 mgp and I get really great shots with it.

I bought my wife a Samsung Digimax S500 for christmas with a 1GB memory card, and i think the camera has become a growth on her arm. My profile picture? the camera took that. It's not insanely expensive, actually without the memory card it was under 150. it's got a lot of features, different zoom, it does amazing things. So, relatively inexpensive as far as digital goes, excellent quality, but beware. Buy rechargeable batteries if you do, and be careful, if you're a picture addict like my wife it might become permanently attached.

So are you always her first victim when it comes to her taking shots?

I couldn't find an A620 but the 630 seems to have what I am looking for...min 2.5 viewer, manual focus and exposure AND an auto focus/exposure feature. Not all cameras allow a manual exposure. Have you had any malfunctions with the camera? I bought a Sony camera c ouple of few years ago and spent a large amount it. Only to have the intermittent drive failure for a year now. I do not even want to bother sending it to Sony and think it is stupid they computer repair shops here but no digital repair shops here.

I was going to reply to this discussion but then noticed it's 3 months old. So have you now bought your camera, brokentia? What kind did you end up getting?

Your awesome Idlewild to stop and notice that. :) Yes, I have already bought one. I bought a Nikon SLR 6.1 MP. :) I need another lens because it came with one that only goes up to 55mm. So, I am saving up to buy one to go up to 200mm. Thanks for asking! :)

I guess it depends on how much money you want to spend... I have just bought a Canon D200 with 18-200mm lens. It is absolutely fabulous. My husband did about 3 months research before he bought it for me. Probably much cheaper in your country than in South Africa. I paid R 33 000.00 here, but I'm sure its cheaper in USA

I have been real happy with Nikon Coolpix. I have had three different models and they all took great pictures. I would recommend one at least 5 megapixels.
