Toothache

My friend was having severe toothache for almost 7 days. He was ready to get the teeth extracted. Advised by a friend, he brushed his teeth, especially the painful part with the following mixture; common salt, 1 part, and pure mustard oil, quite sufficient to make it a suitable paste. He gargled with hot water, and kept some cloves in his mouth. He is okay now, extraction of tooth no more required. I too have started doing this from this morning, but after doing this I brush again using a branded tooth paste having ‘herbal ingredients’ and gargle with Listerine. So far I have lost only one tooth, I have 31 intact and strong. What about you? Have you ever got your tooth extracted? Do you brush your teeth regularly using some branded tooth paste, which has herbal components? Do you gargle using something? Please respond and share your valued opinion, Thanks in advance. Professor ‘*Bhuwan*’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

The treatment suggested by you is quite good and is practiced in our country well. Ideal tooth brush is neem tree -kuchi(in tamil). Next option is brushing twice daily and especially in the night after food. I use colgate only and it is not herbal. I do gargle regularly applying a little salt in hot water. Happy to know u have 31 teeth intact and strong. Keep it up. have a good day.

hello professor, i think he should continue with the extraction. the tooth must have been aching because it has swollen with puss and the dentist will not pull it out if it is in that condition. now that it is fine and not to contaminate other tooth, it should go. i have had four teeth extracted already so i know what the doctor's advise will be. maybe those herbal meds are good for temporary relief. thank you for your discussion. ann

I do brush my teeth regularly. I also gargle some listerine. I have heard that cloves are very good in sooting a toothache. I think one should be careful though because they are strong and can cause irritation on the lips and mouth. There is an aspirin powder called Goodies here that can be poured directly on the tooth..and that will ease things too. Ultimately there will be the need for the dentist though.

Dear Jen One can keep cloves in mouth, just one or two, it stops bad odor too, one can apply small cotton piece soaked eith clove oil on the tooth that gives pain.. Thank you so much for sharing about Goodies, we don't have here. Enjoy life to fullest. Professor ‘*^Bhuwan^*’. .

I have had only one tooth taken out. It was suppose to have a crown put on it. The dentist drilled on it and I had a cavity in the tooth! It was so bad the dentist could not save the tooth and pulled it out. In place of the tooth,I have a parcal. I use Colgate tooth past ans brush just about ever day!

When I was seventeen years old I had to have all of my wisdom teeth taken out because of the fact that my mouth was not large enough to keep them in my mouth. Since then, I have not had to have any of my teeth extracted from my mouth. I tend to just use regular toothpaste that is on sale at the local grocery store. I gargle with listerine only. I really don't go any further than that because my family has genetically bad teeth and I know that I will lose them and have to get dentures at some point.

I have all of my teeth. I use a brand of natural toothpaste, rather than the mainstream stuff (crest, colgate). Seems to work pretty well.

I was just at the dentist yesterday, to fix a couple of teeth that was causing some difficulty. I've also scheduled another visit to get another tooth extracted. This one broke off a few weeks ago, but luckily did not cause any pain. The last extraction I had was more than 20 years ago, so this next one would be very interesting. I have already forgotten how painful it gets.
