Aloe Vera - Great for humans and pets

I have a black Labrador named Miky. He's been having some problems with skin rashes for years now. We think its the medication he's taking in the summer against all kinds of diseases. We've tried just about everything and its been costing quite a lot of money. It never really works and then as sudden as it appeared, its gone. We take good care of what he eats. He's never outside alone, always have us with him. He's healthy and the vet says it happens often to Labradors. Well I bought some aloe vera gel and told hubby we'll try this on his rash for a while. I must say that I am so happy I gave this a try. It seems to be working very well. So have you had similar experiences with aloe vera on humans or pets? Do you use the real thing or you buy the gel?

I'm real glad to hear Miky has responded so well to the gel. I've been growing the stuff for many years now so I always have some handy at home. Funnily enough, I don't always think to use it.

Hi there, Like GG above I have only used it on burns and sunburns as we go to Arkansas every summer and being that we are outdoors a lot and in water constantly our sun tan protection wears out and we tend to get too sunburned. It is a really healing and soothing gel for us. I have not tried it on pets but does make sense. Thanks for that and will let my boyfriends mother know as she has two dogs and a cat where she is always calling to complain of some type of skin rash with the dogs.

Sorry you get sunburned....ouch that hurts!! Its been doing great still for Miky and since he's trying to lick his paws, I dont have to watch him as much since its not poison for him. Im sure your boyfriend's mother will be very happy with the results and it costs less than medicinal cream that you buy at the vet's!! Thanks for sharing!

The gel is the real thing, but is just processed. For preservatives it has vitamins E and C is all. Hubby uses it before he applies shave cream, he says he gets a better shave. I use it on burns including sunburn. It is good for other injuries as well.
