What day of the week was your graduation ceremony?

My niece graduates from high school this week. I am very proud of her but can not make it to her graduation ceremony which is a huge disappointment as I have attended every other graduation ceremony in the family. For scheduling reasons, her school is doing the ceremony on a Wednesday night. Needless to say, I will be there to celebrate with her & her friends next weekend but the Wednesday night scheduling is preventing many other family members from being there too. What day was your ceremony held? I have always attended on Friday or Saturday so this is a big change for me. Have you been invited to a weekday high school graduation? Is this becoming the norm?

Perhaps they did it this way to cut down on how many attend. Many high schools are having to limit attendance where I live. They did have a Friday graduation though. I believe I graduated on a Friday or a Saturday myself. Other than that, I do not remember. I am sure it makes some people unhappy. Perhaps the school district should offer an explanation for this schedule.

True. They did limit the number that could attend when our daughter graduated too. Nice that hers (and mine) were on the weekend, but I think my niece is in a bigger school district. I suppose they have more families (and weather) to schedule for. Ahhh well... It's the weekend so we'll all be celebrating tomorrow.

Gosh I can't remember the day of the week mine was but do recall my kids days and they were planned on Friday night. Most schools should plan it a bit more convenient because Wednesday seems to hard for most working parents. Colleges are done nicely because most are on the weekends. Congrats to your niece and though you can't make it have fun during the celebration weekend.

I'm sure it's hard to schedule to be convenient for everyone but our family is spread out all over Texas. Since it wasn't supposed to start til 7pm, it's definately an overnight trip for many of us to consider. Luckily most of the grandparents are retired. :) Weekend is here. Off to celebrate!

I remember our graduation was Friday. We had a baccalaureate mass Thursday, then Friday is my graduation. AT my school, graduation is always Friday, because it is the end of the week where everyone is migh be on vacation Saturday, so they can rest and Sundays too. So that if there is a party after graduation, everyone will be sleeping the day after because it is Saturday. All of my graduation rites are Friday, from my primary to tertiary school.

Ours was on a Saturday. I had friends from the other colleges who had their graduation ceremony on a weekday though. It was also due to the scheduling of the venue.

My sister's graduation ceremony from the University was on Wednesday. Parents had to have a free day in order to be able to attend the event. It is alright if it is possible to get a leave from a job on the necessary day. Possibly it will be a nice celebration the following weekend.
